Herts Young Homeless (hyh) are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic youth engagement worker to join our charity. hyh's strategic aim is to 'Be More Youth Led' and this role is crucial in supporting that commitment. The right candidate will be fun, open-minded, tech savvy and enjoy working using their own initiative. They will be passionate about youth engagement and motivated to translate youth ideas into actionable plans for the charity.

Young people are experts in their own lived experiences; at hyh we recognise that they are key to ensuring our services are relevant and work effectively for young people now and in the future.
This role will facilitate a variety of fun and meaningful engagement opportunities for young people to have a voice on decisions that affect them. The successful candidate will create open, safe and inclusive spaces for young people, to enable them to form and express their voice on issues that are important to them and to hyh. The youth engagement worker will have the opportunity to inform, develop and grow our youth engagement offer; if successful this may lead to professional development opportunities such as line management of volunteers and staff.
What can you bring to the team?
- Candidates Must have a full clean driving license and use of own vehicle for business purposes
- Co-facilitate annual ‘Youth Summits’; consulting young people from across the county on issues related to the charity/youth homelessness.
- Launch and facilitate a youth advisory board (online and in person). Act as an advocate to deliver key youth board messages to our leadership team and board.
- Co-ordinate work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for young people.
- Organise and co-facilitate social events for our young people.
- Support our young housemates in completing ASDAN qualifications.
- Support the content of our digital communication to young people.
- Complete relevant data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth engagement work.
- Ensure youth engagement and coproduction is considered at all levels of the organisation to ensure decision making is youth informed where appropriate.
- Develop new an innovative ways of involving hyh services users in shaping our services and coproducing our work.
- Ensure good ‘youth voice’ communication across all hyh services, providing updates at service team meetings.
- Co-ordinate young people’s involvement in staff recruitment, training and induction

In addition to the generic communications support, this post specialises in pensions media and communications and will provide content for employers through both the UCEA and USS Employers websites.
You will be expected to operate effectively across a broad range of pensions communications and membership areas, with a blend of autonomy and teamwork. Your communications background will be at a major pension scheme, at an employer offering one or more such schemes, or in delivery of communications in other financial specialisms such as actuarial or insurance. Experience of membership organisations and/or some knowledge of the HE sector would be advantageous.
The postholder will have outstanding communication skills and the ability to prioritise and help deliver a complex and varied workload.
The post is offered as full-time on a permanent contract and is hybrid, working at our offices in Bloomsbury, central London, as well as some remote working each week.

The Digital Communications Officer will support the delivery of communications, campaigns and marketing elements by developing, implementing, tracking and optimising website and digital communication channels. This includes social media, digital advertising and fundraising, integrated campaigns, SEO, marketing automation, content design and development, website development and maintenance, specific channel selection with alignment for relevant audiences.
Working on campaigns, appeals and projects that directly relate to conservation and people’s connection with nature, whilst maintaining the proactive/reactive pace of digital communications day to day. They're looking for those who have an excellent understanding of digital communications concepts and best practices, that have experience of effectively using various digital platforms (e.g. MailChimp, Crowdfunder and social media platforms) and emerging technologies for awareness raising and/or income generation; to engage with different audiences at relevant journey milestones.

Job purpose
This is a pivotal role created to support an ambitious £80m fundraising appeal that will culminate in the creation of the new Royal Free London Cancer Centre.
The RFL, is one of the busiest cancer services in London, combining local care for a population of 2.5m with specialist services relied on by patients from all over the UK and beyond. By 2030, the number of people diagnosed with cancer in north central London is forecast to increase by 42% to 66,000 as the population ages.
The RFL urgently needs to increase its diagnostic, treatment, research and development capacity to meet the needs of our patients. In response, the Royal Free Charity is preparing a major fundraising appeal to support:
- the capital costs for the construction and equipping of a dedicated centre
- the delivery of cancer-related support services.
The campaign communications manager will support the activities of our fundraising directorate in the private phase (Autumn 2024 onwards) and the launch of the public phase of our appeal in early 2026.
The postholder will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans to engage philanthropists, existing supporters, grateful patients, stakeholders and the public. It promises to be a varied and rewarding role in a small but highly collaborative and friendly team.
The role will report to our head of communications and work closely with the campaign director and colleagues in our fundraising directorate and with key clinical leads in the RFL.
The role is ideally suited to someone who is comfortable working across strategic planning and operational delivery, relishing the opportunity to translate plans into activity.
Engagement and communications department
The communications team is responsible for keeping our supporters and local residents informed about the difference we make to the patients and staff of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

The objectives of the post are to:
- develop and deliver the overarching communications and engagement plan for the cancer campaign
- work with the campaign director and colleagues in our fundraising directorate to support the development and delivery of donor-specific communication plans

Key responsibilities

Ensure our work is delivering on the objectives of the programme

Monitor multiple strands through their entire programme cycle in line with budgets
-
Amplify the impact of our work at all levels; from primary through to alumni of LAET
-
Develop a communications journey to maximise school engagement and share programme successes
-
Support the Programme Director and Partnership Teaching Coordinator in setting the strategic direction of the programme
-
Support the Programme Director in funder engagement.
Specific tasks
-
Manage the communication plan with schools, parents and students and liaise with the Programme Coordinator in delivering that plan
-
Oversee the content for social media, bulletins and for the website
-
To closely monitor school progress and evaluate the impact of the programme
-
Collate and compile funder reports and reports for governors
-
Lead on sharing stories from our first Impact Report due this Summer

Oversee strands of Chrysalis East work to ensure high quality delivery
-
Support in the planning and delivery on aspects of the programme, summer schools, event university mentoring schemes
-
To provide a high level of support to Chrysalis East team members and partner schools; being organised, professional, and responsive
-
Contribute to new staff induction and staff development
-
Deliver to a high standard all project actions in line with school policies and procedures, for example safeguarding and GDPR.
