About us
Who we are
The 999 Club is a dynamic local charity in Deptford working to end homelessness, one person at a time. We work as a fantastic, inclusive, empowering and respectful team, making a difference to people’s lives By developing talents and helping to build confidence and self-esteem we encourage people to take personal responsibility for making positive changes in their lives.
The 999 Club works to tackle the impact of homelessness in and around Lewisham by creating a sense of safety and belonging for our members and providing opportunities for respite, recovery and reconnection. With around a third of our members being female we also have a dedicated, women only space.
During the day, we are a wraparound services for people experiencing homelessness, people who are unhoused and those with no recourse to public funds. Services on site range from hot food and drinks, shower, laundry, telephone and internet access to advice and advocacy, support finding accommodation, identifyng training and employment opportunites and supporting people as they move out of homelessness and into accommodation.
In the evenings and at weekends, the service switches focus and transforms into The Bridge, working with people experiencing mental health difficulties and struggling to cope. A non-clinical service, The Bridge provides intensive, time-limited and recovery focused support which helps people manage their immediate situation and uses progression planning to help people access further support where appropriate and develop strategies to sustain their recovery.
