You will bring a strong understanding of the communications challenges that charities face as well as demonstrable expertise in training for charities, innovative programme design, securing grant income and other forms of funding, and working with multiple stakeholders.

This role would suit someone with deep knowledge and experience of the UK charity sector combined with a strong interest in the latest media and communications trends and applications.

We are looking for a thought-leader who is confident about speaking at conferences and events and using social media to raise awareness about Media Trust and our work.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies and new initiatives to drive growth and innovation in the range of charity programmes we currently provide, drawing on sectoral insights and taking a user-led approach as much as possible.
• Programme Oversight & Line Management: Manage the delivery to a very high standard of all our charity capacity-building and training programmes, including being a highly effective line manager for our team of dedicated programme managers.
• Grant Writing and Income Generation: Develop proposals to secure new and repeat funding support for Media Trust's charity programmes and lead the development team in meeting income targets through paid for training for clients including charities and funders.
• Partnership Development: Forge effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders including other charities, infrastructure bodies like NCVO and ACEVO as well as delivery partners including Equally Ours and Climate Outreach, government bodies, and trusts and foundations.
• Representation: Represent Media Trust at charity sector conferences and other events and on social media, to raise awareness about Media Trust and our work.

What we are looking for in you

• Senior Leadership Experience: Proven track record of senior leadership in the charity sector, ideally at an infrastructure or membership organisation, including line management experience and responsibility for managing programme delivery and budgets.
• Training & Capacity Building Programme Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering and measuring the impact of training and other capacity-building programmes for charities and under-represented communities.
• Business Development: Demonstrated expertise in designing and pitching for paid for training and other services.
• Grant Writing Experience: Strong grant writing skills with a successful history of securing funding from diverse sources including government grants, trusts and foundations, and corporates.
• Charity Sector Knowledge: A strong understanding of the communications challenges charities are facing and what interventions are working/not working.
• Knowledge of Media & Comms Trends and Applicability to Charities: Knowledge of the latest media and communications trends and how we can work with our industry partners to ensure charities are using emerging platforms, applications, etc.
• Confidence in Public Speaking & Using Social Media: Experience of speaking at conferences and other public events and facilitating training for large groups. You will also be confident about using your social media profile to raise awareness about Media Trust and our work.
• Outstanding Communication Skills: Very strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, with the ability to adapt tone and approach for different stakeholders.

Duties and key responsibilities

Support and Information

• To deliver the Sarcoma UK Support Line, a confidential telephone and email support and information service for anyone affected by sarcoma. This includes:
  • Providing individual information and support to service users on sarcoma and related issues, by telephone, email and other media as the service develops.
  • Adhering to quality standards, confidentiality, Sarcoma UK policies and the standard operating procedures of the Support Line.
  • Under direction from the Director of Research, Policy and Support and Support Line Manager, contribute to Sarcoma UK’s social and other media as appropriate.
• To provide clinical input to the development of the charity’s information materials including the revision of existing information materials and the development of new information products.
• To provide input to the clinical content of the charity’s website.
• To raise awareness of the charity’s information and support services within the health professional field.
• To contribute sarcoma knowledge and clinical expertise across all the charity’s programmes.

Maintain Professional Knowledge

• Keep up to date with treatment and care of sarcoma through research and review of publications, horizon scanning, and attending study days and conferences, and disseminate this information within the charity.
• Adhere to the standards of good practice outlined in the AHP / NMC professional code of conduct, or relevant professional body’s standards.
• Maintain professional registration and compliance with revalidation requirements ensuring ongoing clinical education and professional development.
• Attend mandatory clinical supervision sessions.

External Relationships

• To maintain positive relationships with key Sarcoma UK stakeholders including sarcoma patients, family members/carers and support group leaders.
• To develop and maintain contact with sarcoma specialist healthcare professionals, including clinicians, specialist nurses and allied health professionals who have reviewed our information materials.

Other

• To support new work within the information and support team. 
• The role will require some travel to meetings and events throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.
• Attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.
• Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.
• The post holder will be working in a developing environment and will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual, who has a flexible attitude to lead on our translation service within the Fund.

The Fund is a truly bilingual organisation. Our principle is to treat the Welsh and English languages equally by offering a bilingual service to our customers and grant holders on a day-to-day basis.

You will work independently alongside numerous teams to ensure an effective and accurate translation service for the whole organisation.  You will ensure that all our online and off-line materials, including new web pages, publications and corporate initiatives, are translated in accordance with agreed deadlines.

You will work closely with our Welsh Language Officer to ensure that the Fund fulfils its statutory legal requirements to comply with the Welsh Language Standards under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.

The ability to speak and write in Welsh fluently and confidently is essential for this post.

The Senior Fundraising Officer will play a key role in the Fundraising Team helping to generate significant and increased income from charitable trusts and foundations and corporate partners.

Community and Engagement Manager

Position: Community and Engagement Manager

Location: Teddington, TW11 8HT

Salary Range (depending on experience): pro rata of £32,910 – £38,745 incl. OLW

Hours: Part-time 21 hours per week. We are able to offer some flexibility with the role such as term time only or flexibility with days/times.

About the role

Richmond AID is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person who will support our vision of putting Deaf and Disabled people at the centre of everything we do. We are looking for an experienced person who can develop and implement an engagement and co-production strategy. You will work closely with our other managers and play an integral role in the management team.

The role involves leading the delivery and development of our dynamic Community and Engagement team. This multidisciplinary team currently has 6 direct reports and services include: BuddyUp, Spade gardening service, Mental Health Peer Support service, Connect to Tech digital training, Campaigning and our wide range of peer group activities.  There is a variety of skills and experience which will require someone to We are looking for someone to not just manage these services, but to lead their development and widen our coverage across the borough of Richmond. This will predominantly involve supporting the people involved to be leaders of their own projects, developing/modernising our delivery model, ensuring projects meet targets and quality standards and when required also being involved in supporting direct service delivery.

About you

You will have strong leadership skills with experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team. You will lead our engagement, co-production and campaign strategy and manage our Community and Engagement team instilling these values through all our work. You must be committed to the value of participative community engagement, have a great understanding of the needs of diverse communities, and a passion for social justice and supporting Disabled people.

You must have experience in the delivery of community facing services and be able to  demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by Disabled people. It is essential you bring passion, dynamic ideas and creativity to the role.

You will be an excellent networker internally and externally. You will have strong influencing skills, and will have the right blend and balance of people skills with excellent communication and project management abilities. You must be comfortable connecting with the wider community, able to listen, gather the views of local people, and feed these back into our wider programme of work. You’ll be confident in participative strategies and tools such as facilitating groups, arranging events, developing surveys, gathering views and responding to consultations.

You will have experience of managing a team covering a wide range of projects and interests. You will know what it takes to set up and manage a project and ensure it meets the intended outcomes.

You will be skilled in managing group dynamics and supporting your team to have boundaries with clients. You will also have experience of managing Safeguarding issues. Above all you must bring a positive, solution focused attitude.

Experience of campaigning work, with a track record of delivering innovative digital campaigns that have led to real change, would be an advantage.

About Richmond AID

Richmond AID offers 25 days annual leave plus eight bank holidays pro rata. Normal office hours are 9am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Fridays. You will be expected to operate effectively across a broad range of pensions communications and membership areas, with a blend of autonomy and teamwork. Your communications background will be at a major pension scheme, at an employer offering one or more such schemes, or in delivery of communications in other financial specialisms such as actuarial or insurance. Experience of membership organisations and/or some knowledge of the HE sector would be advantageous.

The postholder will have outstanding communication skills and the ability to prioritise and help deliver a complex and varied workload. 

The post is offered as full-time on a permanent contract and is hybrid, working at our offices in Bloomsbury, central London, as well as some remote working each week.

The Role

The Marketing and Campaigns Officer is responsible for developing and delivering multi-channel marketing plans, with responsibility for marketing across the charity. This will have a particular focus on digital channels and campaigns, providing copy and strategic direction, but also including marketing of events, products and services. You will collate, analyse and interpret campaign and marketing data to ensure KPIs are met and makes recommendations for future marketing activity.
