The role of the Community & Housing Officer is pivotal within the Simon Community Creating Homes initiative in managing and sustaining tenancies for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. 

The Community & Housing Officer will play a key role in expanding housing opportunities by building and maintaining strong partnerships with landlords, housing providers, and other key stakeholders. Through these collaborations, the post holder will help increase access to affordable and secure housing, while contributing to the broader goal of ending homelessness within the community.

The position requires a proactive and compassionate approach to both housing management and community development, ensuring that tenants are supported and that the initiative’s housing impact continues to grow.

Essential Criteria:

• CIH Level 4 qualification in Housing or degree in a related discipline (e.g., Housing, Property Management, Social Policy) OR A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a housing-related role with a commitment to obtaining a CIH Level 4 qualification within an agreed timeframe.
• Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the operation and regulation of the private rented sector in Northern Ireland, including landlord responsibilities and tenant rights.
• Show a strong understanding of housing supply and availability in Northern Ireland, particularly in relation to social housing, the private rented sector, and people at risk of homelessness. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders.
• Hold a full, clean driving licence (or alternative means of travel if a disability prevents driving), as regular travel across Northern Ireland will be essential.

Desirable Criteria:

• A Level 5 or above CIH qualification in Housing or a postgraduate degree in a related field such as Property Management, Housing Policy, or Social Work.
• Previous experience working with individuals at risk of or transitioning out of homelessness, particularly in a supported housing or tenancy sustainment role.
• Familiarity with social housing allocation systems in Northern Ireland, including the Common Selection Scheme.
• Familiarity with housing or property management systems and strong IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.

You will work a combination of office, client-home, community, and home-based working. Causeway is a 4-day week employer, so you will work 32 hours over 4 days a week. The Role

To provide a high-quality housing management service, ensuring outstanding customer service and service delivery, by a being a primary point of contact for tenants. Manage a patch of approximately 100 units. Engage with tenants to provide a responsive efficient housing management service that is consistently excellent for all tenancies. Housing Officers are expected to carry out the vast majority of their duties (70%) at our managed accommodation. 

Vibrance has an exciting opportunity for a Housing Officer to join our small and busy Housing team hybrid working across North London and Essex. We are offering a full time role with a salary of £28,000 per annum, plus benefits.

About the role:

As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for providing a housing management service to the service users living in Vibrance owned and managed services. You will provide support to Vibrance services in relation to health and safety, maintenance, housing law and tenancy issues, rent collection, and arrears management. You’ll also provide specific support and advice to individuals who use Vibrance services with housing matters and money advice.

The Housing Officer role will be supporting our services located across North London & Essex and as such ability to travel is essential and a car driver would be preferable.

Responsibilities as our Housing Officer will include:

• Supporting prospective service users (and their carers where appropriate) with all aspects of the moving in/out process, to ensure that people are able to make an informed decision about whether or not to move in or move out
• Ensuring that individuals are maximising their benefits, including supporting them to make claims and liaising with the Dept of Work and Pensions and Housing Benefit staff as necessary
• Providing support to ensure that individuals are able to maintain their tenancies, including debt/arrears management, anti-social behaviour resolution, and the issues that can arise from shared living
• Working alongside our service managers and landlords to ensure that accommodation remains fit for purpose, well maintained, suitable for the individual residents and that all health & safety responsibilities are being met

The Whiteley Homes Trust “the Trust” is a charity that manages Whiteley Village in Surrey. The purpose of the charity is to provide homes for older people of limited means from all over the country.  Founded over a hundred years ago in Walton on Thames, Surrey, the Village is located in 225 acres of beautiful grounds and is a very special place to live and work.

Established in 1917 the village has many Grade 2 listed buildings and provides housing for nearly 400 older people of limited means. There are 265 Almshouses and 51 extra care apartments and the Village also has a church, social and leisure club, shop and café.

We became a Registered Provider in 2024 and the Head of Housing will lead on the Trust’s strategic and operational delivery of our housing management services.

You will have a strong background in in housing management and will lead a small team to deliver an efficient, professional and cost-effective service with high levels of customer satisfaction.  You will understand the support needs of our residents whilst meeting regulatory requirements of the Regulator for Social Housing, the Care Quality Commission and upholding the standards set by the Almshouse Association.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for all aspects of housing management including applications, allocations and lettings, income collection, managing antisocial behaviour and other breaches and supporting residents to manage their licences or tenancies. The position will be accountable for making business decisions that align to the Trust’s strategic goals, vision and objectives.

The role will have line management responsibility for the Housing Team and a close working relationship with the Head of Property, Head of Community Services and the Registered Manager of the Extra Care facility.

What will you be doing?

Main Responsibilities

• Leading and developing the Housing team to ensure they provide an excellent service for residents.
• Ensure the Trust’s housing management systems and controls are effective and robust, and that the Trust is fully compliant with all Landlord obligations, relevant laws, regulations and quality standards of the Regulator of Social Housing, the Care Quality Commission and the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023.
• Line Manage the Housing team with responsibility for recruiting, training, motivating, performance management and absence management ensuring an efficient, professional, responsive and customer led service.
• Maximise the Trust’s income by effective management of arrears associated with licence agreements, maintenance charges, rents and service charges and to take appropriate action to recover debts incurred.
• Manage antisocial behaviour and other breaches in line with the Trust policy as well as taking a proactive approach to resolving neighbour disputes and anti-social behaviour.
• Work with the Head of Property to develop an effective void strategy that ensures properties are let to a good standard while minimising void times and costs.
• Record KPIs and report to the Leadership Team monthly and implement processes to ensure targets are met.
• Review and update Housing policies where required.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with residents, managers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Investigate and respond to all Housing Services complaints within set timescales and proactively deal with issues prior to becoming a complaint.
• Work with the Head of Community Services to develop services to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents.
• Develop the use of the specialist IT system (Pyramid) to deliver robust housing and property management.
• Develop and manage the budgets for Housing Services, ensuring efficient allocation of resources while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
• Work with colleagues to set service charge budgets to maintain affordability while effectively providing services.
• Ensure all annual maintenance charge, rent and service charge increases are communicated and implemented on time.
• Work with the Health and Safety adviser to ensure full completion of risk assessments, inspections and audits as required. Ensure any accidents, incidents or near misses are reported in line with the Trust’s policies and appropriate action taken.

General

BIAS’s housing advice service supports members of the local Irish community with a range of complex housing issues, including homelessness, rehousing, tenancy sustainment and disrepair. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic person to join our friendly advice team. Your role will involve contributing to the day-to-day running of BIAS’s advice service, providing specialist advice on housing via one-to-one client appointments, completing casework and advocating for positive outcomes for your clients.

You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and clients, excellent organisational skills and the ability to digest complex briefs. You will be required to manage an active caseload, ensuring that cases are appropriately actioned and recorded and that deadlines are met.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

• Providing appropriate advice, information and practical help to clients, via in-person appointments, outreach visits, telephone, letter or email. Where necessary, advocating on behalf of clients in the appropriate forums.
• Ensuring that all casework records are kept up to date and completed clearly and effectively.
• Contributing to monitoring service delivery and recording client outcomes.

These are the basic duties required of the Housing Adviser. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and you may be required from time to time to perform other reasonable duties which are required for the efficient running of the organisation. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. This role will be based primarily in our advice offices in Willesden (Brent), with some outreach work in Haringey borough. There may be some options for flexible working (one day per week).

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our Active Ageing Clubs and our Be-a-friend volunteer scheme. We raise over £1.5 million in extra income for the most vulnerable every year and have over 3000 attendances at our club services. BIAS has exciting plans for expansion into Haringey in 2025 and has a range of medium- to long-term grant funding, including from Ireland’s Emigrant Support Programme.

Havering Complex Needs Pathway: Offers support to 23 residents across 5 services for individuals with low to medium level complex needs. The pathway is designed to support residents and participants in the Havering Borough to reintegrate back into the community and prepare for independent living. This role would be a floating officer based in the Havering borough supporting across the numerous services providing Intensive Housing management support. 

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 9:00AM -17:00PM or 13:00PM - 21:00PM Monday - Sunday, Onsite. 

Salary: £26,100

What You'll Be Doing

You will be joining our Elmbridge Team, a warm friendly and welcoming group, to provide a high-quality service to our clients in Walton on Thames, Molesey, Hersham, Thames Ditton, Hinchley Wood and Cobham. We currently support 65 clients with a range of needs. Our clients include individuals who are homeless, some with mental health issues, those in recovery from substance misuse, and young people.

A little more about your day as a Housing & Support Officer:

• Act as a keyworker to clients, helping them achieve their goals and live independently.
• Family mediation and support, bringing families back together.
• Working with a community of professionals to support the right outcomes.
• Problem solving together and debriefs sharing our experiences and learning as a team.
• Support clients with repair issues and repayment agreements for rent arrears.
• Carry out room inspections, health and safety checks and making rooms homely for new residents.

It is an exciting time to our Elmbridge Team as you’ll also be involved in planning and running our extra-curricular workshops which range from sport activities such as basketball, table tennis and boxing, to relaxation sessions including yoga and meditation. We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Senior Income & Housing Officer to join our Landlord Services team at our Head Office in Islington.

The Senior Housing Officer will be based at Look Ahead's head office in Islington but there will be regular travel across London and the south east . The Landlord Services team provides housing management across all of Look Ahead's owned and managed properties .

The main focus of the Senior Housing Officer's role is income collection, managing other breaches of tenancy such as anti-social behaviour ,working with compliance colleagues to follow up on fire risk assessment actions required , gas capping cases and any access issues for gas and electrical checks. You will be responsible for monitoring an on going programme of estate inspections, living standard checks and tenancy audits. You will also ensure that empty void properties and re-let within tight time frames and data systems kept up to date. Focusing on Look Ahead's unsupported properties- you will line manage 3 Housing Officers- 2 of which are based on site in our services in Southwark and Barking and Dagenham. You will also line manage 1 Estates Officer. You will act as the lead liaison manager between Look Ahead and the external Tenancy Sustainment Team which provides support to some of our customers.

What you'll do:

Income Collection

Manage the performance and co-ordination of the Housing Officers, setting and monitoring their performance via KPIs
Lead the team of Housing Officers to reduce the overall level of current and former tenant arrears within organisational targets
Responsible for dealing with escalated cases of arrears for individuals and complicated cases.
Monitor and enforce compliance with Look Ahead's Income Collection policy and procedure, specifically with Income Officers and Operation colleagues
Responsible for championing and promoting the use of Income Collection policy and procedure with contract manager's, providing guidance and support where required
Ensure that all housing management systems are kept updated regarding Income related and customer profiling matters and that customer files are being maintained appropriately
Co-ordinate and design any training related to housing management systems, the Income Collection Procedure and income maximisation

We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced, hands-on Finance professional to join our well-established Finance team as a Financial Controller. In this key role you will effectively lead the day-to-day operations of the Finance function. 

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will be responsible for leading our Financial Reporting, Processing and Compliance and Rent Setting teams, and will support them in the delivery of the department’s goals and objectives.

With the support of this team, the main duties for the role are: 

• Leading the day-to-day operations of the Finance function 

• Drafting Audit and Risk Committee and Board of Management Reports

About the role 

As a Housing First Coach you will deliver high quality person-centred support, using psychologically and trauma informed approaches, in line with Housing First principles. You will take a bold approach to establishing open and trusting relationships with people who have had long histories of homelessness or in temporary/insecure accommodation, enabling them to access and sustain accommodation and empower them to exercise choice and control over their lives. The team is multi-disciplinary – Coaches, Peer Support Worker, Clinical Psychologist – which allows us to collaboratively formulate innovative approaches to support. The team operates across London, providing numerous opportunities to build impactful partnerships and contribute towards systems change.   

About you 

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter, flexible and have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team and with internal and external partners.  You may have a background in housing/homelessness support, adult safeguarding, drug or alcohol recovery services or mental health and have significant experience of working within a multidisciplinary setting with the ability to create strong professional relationships and creative solutions.  You will have experience of working with people who have faced severe and multiple exclusion and who may have ‘complex needs’; with an understanding of the needs of people who have been homeless for long periods of time. You will be willing and able to provide practical assistance with moving into and maintaining a home – including direct help where necessary with tasks such as shopping, budgeting, cooking, and cleaning.  You will also have a knowledge of Housing First and Housing Led approaches and the ability to work within a psychologically informed approach.
