As a Shop Manager, you will be reporting to the Retail Operations Manager.  Your role will be to be responsible and accountable for maximising shop profit by achieving budgeted income, controlling shop expenditure in line with budget and recruiting and retaining a motivated team of volunteers.

Knowing what it takes to maximise shop sales, you will possess a sound knowledge of technical terms and commercial arithmetic, and an excellent understanding of working within a customer focused environment.  With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail.  You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Role Requirements

Income generation
To manage the Retail budget to achieve agreed targets:
• To maximise shop sales by achieving agreed targets both through donated stock and bought in/new goods. This involves proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed amounts and stock planning.
• Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
• Achieve the shops Raffle sales targets through involving the shops team.
• To maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
• Manage the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary and recording key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Assist in holding and attending Fundraising events to promote the awareness of The Children’s Trust.
• To source links with local communities to promote Retail in the community via media and other sources.
• Role involves a degree of manual handling in sorting and lifting of stock.

Administration and compliance
To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Raffle and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• To control shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• To ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures, and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• To adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Raffle.
• To be responsible for the daily management of Health and safety within the shops, completing daily checks and contributing to Risk Assessments.
• To complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embracing the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.

Personnel and Training
To ensure the Shops team are: recruited, retained and developed:
• Provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Assistant Manager and Shops Volunteer team.
• To manage all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• To be responsible for the daily management of the shop team, including contribution to performance reviews for any Assistant Shop Managers.
• To recruit, support and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Provide induction and training for both Assistant Shop Manager and volunteer team as and when necessary.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role
• Promote awareness of relevant training courses and development opportunities to others within the team.
• Attendance at Retail Sales Meetings and responsible for cascading information to Shops team as appropriate.
• To assist the Retail Sales Manager in shop openings and closures.
• Undertake relief cover within The Trust’s shops as and when required.
• Carries out duties in accordance with Trust values.

Customer Service
To ensure customer care and quality of service:
• To provide excellent customer care through quality of service, dealing with complaints both efficiently and effectively, and having a good understanding of what The Children’s Trust does.
• Support other shops and fundraising colleagues as and when necessary.
• Adheres to all health and safety guidelines, including infection prevention and control.
• Provide evidence of a valid NHS Covid Pass or acceptable proof of Covid vaccination or medical exemption and all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post.
• Adhere to manual handling procedures and complete mandatory manual handling training.
• Promotes the health and safety of others.
• Uses the incident reporting and risk assessment system (IRAR), to identify and report risks and incidents/actions if directed.
• Responsible for identifying and mitigating risk within the work environment.

Community Engagement Coordinator - Wales

Location: The role will be based out of the BookTrust Offices in Cardiff.  BookTrust works in a hybrid and flexible way with an expectation of a minimum of 8 face to face collaboration days per month which could be at the Cardiff office, visiting partners across Wales and on occasions UK wide travel.  There will therefore be reasonable travel needed to fulfil the role, with occasional overnight stays.

The Young Women’s Keyworker will work with young women aged 15-24 to provide specialist 1:1 support to those referred into the service. The service is designed to be a “whole system” response to women and girls in the Criminal Justice System, so a key part of the role will include building relationships with statutory and VCS agencies, to support and encourage more young women to access the Minerva service, as well as setting up specialist referral pathways for young women in the community. 

About You:

 To be successful as the Young Women’s Keyworker you will:

Bring an in-depth knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk of offending; both in and out of the Criminal Justice System. Have a strong understanding of the context and challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic violence, mental health, and sexual health.

Bring a significant experience of working with young women experiencing issues related to offending and experience of community engagement, advocacy and support work with young people and have proven practical experience of using motivational interviewing and coaching techniques with young women and girls, using a woman-centred approach to build trust and rapport.  You will demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary groups, developing and maintaining strong constructive working relationships.

Lead Music Therapist

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service

Contract: Permanent, 28-35 hours days per week, 4-5 days per week

Location: Coram campus, London

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service offers art, music and drama therapy, therapeutic parenting, clinical psychology and family therapy to children and families at our dedicated creative therapies centre and in schools.  We work primarily with adoptive and connected carer families, and children who have low level mental health difficulties.  We are a trauma-informed service and have specialist expertise in neuro-diversity and children with special education needs. The well-established team has a strong track record in therapeutic interventions, including music therapy, art therapy and narrative therapy based multi-family groups for younger children who are adopted or with a Special Guardianship Order.  We have a purpose built therapy building and have recently built a music studio for our adolescent work.  We work within very diverse communities and we consciously challenge ourselves and our practice, seeking at all times to be inclusive and anti-racist. We welcome applications from therapists who come from global majority communities.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HCPC qualified Music Therapist to provide leadership, supervision and management of music therapists and other creative therapists in the service.  You will carry out therapeutic multi-disciplinary assessments and music therapy interventions with adopted and Special Guardianship Order families.  This work involves trauma informed approaches, family work and life story work.  The team is led by a Clinical Psychologist and provides creative, relational, and evidence based approaches, collaborating with wider networks and reaching schools and communities to inform child centred and trauma informed practice. The post holder will receive supervision by a highly qualified Music therapist, and be line managed by a Clinical Psychologist.   The post offers a unique opportunity to work alongside skilled creative and family therapists. We seek to empower children and families using strengths based narratives, as well as accepting vulnerability and seeking opportunity for connection, strengthening resilience and support. 

The successful candidate will be experienced at working with managing and supervising therapists, developmental trauma, and child and family work and operates with initiative and responsiveness in a dynamic professional environment.   A background in CAMHS and/or a social care services would be desirable, with a good understanding of safeguarding planning and managing highly emotive situations. Experience of running multi-family groups would be an advantage. This role requires a supportive professional, a team player, who enjoys working in a diverse, respectful and challenging team.

Who will I be changing the lives of?

All of our learners are aged between 16-25 years, have some level of additional need and as a result have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).  Some of the most common areas of need that our learners experience are Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASC), ADHD although we work with learners with a much broader range of needs.

Main Responsibilities

• To be responsible for a caseload of learners with EHCP's aged 16-25 years
• To act as the main point of contact for staff and services with SEND related queries
• To arrange and carry out Annual Reviews and PEP’s as well as completion and submission of all relevant paperwork, acting as chair for these meetings when required
• To assist the Change Leader with the transition process for learners starting at Really NEET as well as those learners leaving Really NEET
• Responsible for over-seeing the progression of learners on completion of the course

We are now recruiting for a Lead Coach in Brighton - an outstanding opportunity to work as part of a local church to deliver the Spear Programme.

You’ll be working with the local church to manage the delivery of Resurgo's award-winning Spear Programme. Over the last 20 years, Spear has supported more than 10,000 young people across the UK with the work-ready skills and mindset they need to succeed in employment, no matter the challenges they face. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively
• Handling safeguarding
• Taking a lead on rating the work readiness of the trainees and making sure data is inputted and used correctly on salesforce
• Tracking trainee progress on the dashboards
• Liaising with volunteers for key programme engagement events such as mock interviews and external panels. Leading on briefings and communications with these volunteers

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees

Training the Graduate Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Graduate Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback

Trainee recruitment [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics

Continuous professional development

• Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and possibly supporting on leading internal training such as Grad Coach Training

Active participation in and support for church team and mission

• As the Spear programme is run in partnership with a local church partner, you will establish a strong personal connection with the church to develop the engagement and backing of church members and help build a strong network of supporters for the Spear programme. As part of this you may be asked to speak at church/events and contribute to prayer meetings as per Resurgo’s Christian ethos and the mission of the church

The RSAP (Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme) Lead Worker will provide support to individuals, who have a history of Rough Sleeping, following them being accepted into the RSAP ‘move-on’ programme. 

The Lead Worker will provide intensive, holistic, strengths-based, trauma-informed, flexible and responsive support to individuals accessing this service as well as work alongside external agencies to help ensure they are linked into the local community such as activities and groups which offer health, wellbeing and Education, Employment and Training (ETE) opportunities.

The Lead Worker will provide support to the Team Manager to manage referrals coming into this element of the service and lead on assessing the individual. Working within SHP’s policy and procedural framework, the worker will carry out a comprehensive assessment of needs and risks in agreed timescales.  On-going high quality support plans & risk assessments will then be drafted and reviewed on a regular basis. 

You will be working to upskill the client to manage their accommodation and feel ready to move on from the RSAP property into fully independent housing, within 2 years where possible.

About you:

You will possess the relevant knowledge and experience, including:

• A level of experience and understanding of provision of services to people within the areas of offending, mental health, homeless people with complex needs & a history of substance use; 

• A good and current understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures;

• Experience of effective liaison with social care, health, housing and criminal justice agencies;

• Experience of writing client records, completing monitoring materials and contributing to project evaluation;

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to your direct reports and overall team to achieve both the organisation’s overall vision and ensure excellence in delivery.
• Devise and design programme concepts and specifications and provide strategic recommendations for programme developments using effective research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring projects meet needs of individuals, families, and the community.
• Ensure our programme delivery model is financially viable and sustainable, and underpinned by quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Maintain oversight of the deployment of financial, people and organisational resources, ensuring effective budget management and use of resources across all programme delivery teams.
• Engage proactively with relevant stakeholders, networks, and particularly those who benefit from our projects, to support and directly inform the design of person-centred services. 
• Continue to build and sustain strong relationships with our families and young people.
• Ensure programme delivery adheres to legislative requirements, good practice guidance and organisational policies and procedures.
• Ensure a proactive culture of continuous review of programme-based procedures, systems, and controls to ensure they are fit for purpose, provide person-centred support and outcomes, and safeguard the organisation and those we support.
• Cultivate links with other organisations with a view to identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnership working.
• Contribute at a strategic level to the capacity building, organisational development, resilience, sustainability, and impact of the organisation. 
• Effectively build evidence, including the quantification of the positive impact of current / future programmes, utilising lived experience examples where appropriate. Work closely with colleagues to enable effective external messaging and communication including external fundraising activities.
• Work with fundraising lead to co-produce compelling cases for support for potential funders.
• Represent the organisation externally at relevant networks, forums and events as required.
• As a senior leader in the organisation, visibly demonstrate KLS’ values and drive a positive, collaborative, and inclusive culture across the organisation.

Administration

• Recruit, train, manage and support the team, holding regular supervision sessions, annual appraisals and appropriate training and development.
• Ensure performance management and quality systems are in place to monitor and evaluate the project’s work, processes.
• Follow KLS’ safer recruiting process and ensure safeguarding members is a priority across the team.
• Ensure all member and project records are kept up to date on Salesforce.
• Work with the Senior Leadership and Finance Director to manage the programme budget, maintain financial records, monitor income and expenditure against budgets and targets, and report regularly and accurately to KLS’ Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
• Oversee the team’s use of our database, Salesforce, for managing the programme, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and working with external consultants to customise and integrate the database with KLS’ website, referral, and evaluation forms.

Safeguarding

• Responsible for embedding safeguarding best practice and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures across the programme team, ensuring that safeguarding is at the forefront of KLS’ delivery.
• Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Refugee Family Programme Team, working with Safeguarding Officers and Duty Leads to ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed and recorded appropriately and safeguarding cover is maintained across the team in line with KLS’ procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Extensive leadership and management experience, coupled with a track record of leading the strategic development of services for adults and children (of all ages) from the refugee community that improve their access to education and justice, reduce their isolation and improve their ability to navigate their journey.
• Extensive experience of working with people from vulnerable groups, especially children and young people, ensuring that clients’ needs are at the forefront of service planning and delivery.
• Experience of working with refugee communities.
• Up to date knowledge of the English education system, rights to education, the barriers facing refugee communities in accessing education and how these might be addressed.
• Understanding and experience of safeguarding, and health & safety (including trips and residentials for children and families), in theory and in practice.
• Experience of providing advice and advocacy support to people from vulnerable groups.
• Direct involvement in adopting a strategic approach to either replicating existing or developing new services / programmes in response to anticipated future demand or a change in the landscape.
• Evidence of successful strategic and operational resource management
• Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior and strategic level.
• The ability to take a creative approach in respect to packages of support.
• Strong approach to performance management with the ability to define and measure outcomes of success.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively represent the organisation.
• Financial acumen in relation to costing programmes and managing and monitoring budgets
• Strong problem solving and strategic planning capability with creative skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proven skills in influencing, communicating, and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
• The ability to drive and deliver change using a range of influencing, negotiation, facilitation, and process skills.
