The Head of Central Services is a brand-new senior role that has been created to give a higher profile to, and enhance the importance of governance, H&S, Safeguarding and compliance across The Brick.
Key elements of the role include:
· Drive a culture of compliance at The Brick by raising the profile of safeguarding, property standards and health and safety, by sharing the positive impact of compliance work, and by clearly communicating the risks of non-compliance.

· Be the primary interface with key regulators and contractors including the Regulator of Social Housing and closely manage the relationship with each to ensure that The Brick remains in line with their existing requirements and is able to plan effectively for upcoming changes.
· Deliver a comprehensive health, safety and quality programme which meets The Brick’s legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, particularly in the key risk areas, for example, safeguarding, health and safety, and accident and incident management.
· Ensure that The Brick has appropriate measures in place to safeguard the people we work with (who often have complex needs and vulnerabilities) and responds to feedback and complaints from clients, puts things right where we have got them wrong, and we learn the lessons for the future.
· Lead the organisation’s strategic and operational approach to risk management and mitigation and lead the organisation’s business continuity planning.

Background Information
WAST is run by and for women seeking asylum and currently has around 170 members. It was started in 2005 by WAST’s current Chair whilst fighting her own anti-deportation campaign and became a constituted charity in 2014. Its purpose remains to provide a safe space for women coming together in solidarity to offer support, share information and help each other to survive and to get their leave to remain in the UK. Women are at the sharp end of the ‘hostile environment’ with punitive government immigration policies and practice. WAST enables a process of empowerment through which women gain the confidence and strength to voice their experience and campaign for justice.
WAST is a place of hope and belonging with its core values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment and its continuous development of its trauma informed peer support approach.
WAST is proud of its pioneering work giving a voice to women seeking asylum and inspiring other women around the country to set up similar groups. WAST has been at the forefront of national campaigning against detention, has published three books and created two plays, giving voice to women’s experiences.
Activities are led by the WAST Management Group elected by the membership and supported by WAST staff, currently a part-time Engagement and Programme Coordinator (and we will soon be recruiting for a second part-time coordinator role).

The post is based at the WAST office in central Manchester with some opportunity for remote working. The post is for 28 hours a week.

The Chair of the Diocesan and Cathedral Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DCSAP) is an extremely important and highly influential role at the Diocese, as you will independently guide, advise and challenge the Diocese and Canterbury Cathedral to ensure that their safeguarding policies, procedures and practices adhere to national and statutory safeguarding requirements.
Acting with impartiality and independence, you will provide effective leadership to the panel by encouraging independent thought and supporting and challenging where necessary, to ensure effective safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults are maintained within the Cathedral and throughout the Diocese.
Regularly reviewing the progress of the DCSAP’s annual work programme, you will also contribute to the diocesan and cathedral safeguarding strategy and its annual progress review.
Taking responsibility for scrutinising the Church's responses to safeguarding concerns, you will advise on the diocesan/cathedral response to case lessons learned reviews, proposing adjustments to policies and practices where necessary.
Perhaps with a background in social services, a local authority, the police or in safeguarding children, you should have a strong understanding of the statutory requirements relating to safeguarding, including the Children Act, Care Act, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and relevant criminal justice frameworks.
A natural leader with experience of chairing governance or multi-agency panels, you should have the ability to lead structured discussions and reach consensus, being able to act impartially and independently and offer objective advice and challenge. To ensure impartiality, you must not hold any other role within the diocese.
With outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, you should be capable of presenting safeguarding issues clearly to senior leaders and stakeholders, whilst having the ability to influence safeguarding strategy and policy, implementing improvements based on case reviews and best practices.
Previous experience in a faith-based or voluntary setting with safeguarding responsibilities or experience working with statutory safeguarding partners (perhaps local authorities or the police) would be desirable.

The Director of Governance and Compliance will take accountability for driving a culture of compliance across St Mungo’s. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead strategic and operational risk management while providing effective leadership and team management.
- Serve as the primary liaison with key regulators, ensuring compliance with the Charity Commission and the Regulator of Social Housing.
- Support the Board and Chief Executive in maintaining proper governance of the charity.
- Act as safeguarding lead, ensuring client protection and addressing feedback and complaints.
- Deliver a comprehensive health, safety, and quality program that meets all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
About you
We are looking for an adaptable leader who demonstrates the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, who can demonstrate commitment to ethical conduct and compliance in all activities. To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Senior experience in governance and compliance within a charity, registered provider, or similar organisation.
- Proven experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders, including the Regulator of Social Housing and the Charity Commission.
- Effective leadership and change management abilities, with a talent for motivating and developing staff.
- Proactive, results-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Experience in health, safety, and quality assurance, ensuring programmes meet legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- Knowledge in risk management, business continuity planning, and internal audit delivery is a plus, along with relevant qualifications such as Company Secretary or governance credentials.
Whilst our main office is currently in Tower Hill, London, where you will work for at least 2 days per week, we are flexible and encourage a blended working pattern including working from home and across other London or St Mungo’s regional hub locations. About Claremont Project (Islington):
Claremont is a pioneering charity in Islington dedicated to reducing isolation and enhancing wellbeing, especially for older people. We are a community rooted in the arts, personal growth and meaningful human connection. Our centre offers an array of activities for members aged 55 and over, alongside an affordable psychotherapy service that also serves as a training placement for existentially oriented student therapists.
The Clinical Services Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our psychotherapy service, as well as providing leadership in safeguarding and fostering a culture of relational practice for both members and staff. Ideally, the Clinical Services Manager will be grounded in an existential-phenomenological approach, and will embody Claremont’s ethos of real listening, and authentic human connection while driving innovation across the service.
The role:
· Operating and promoting Claremont’s low-cost psychotherapy service such that it delivers demonstrably excellent outcomes for clients.
· Acting as a second Safeguarding lead in the absence of the CEO.
· Developing and sustaining relationships with referring organisations and local stake holders, such as GPs, social services, community groups, and trainee placement colleges/universities.
· Advocating the mission to reduce isolation and promote mental health and wellbeing not only through our 1-to-1 service but through therapeutic groups and other services provided by Claremont as part of its timetable.

The centre operates with a small team, including a CEO, Social Prescription Manager, Programming Manager, Front of House Coordinator, and a Facilities Manager, alongside a team of volunteers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Psychotherapy Service
Administer all aspects of Claremont’s Psychotherapy Service, including:
· Conducting initial client assessments and managing referrals.
· Assigning clients to therapists and maintaining waiting list.
· Tracking evaluation outcomes using CORE.
· Maintaining client database, inputting attendance data, and managing room assignments.
· Recruiting, onboarding, and ongoing support for trainee therapists.
· Liaising with supervisors regarding trainee progress and client concerns.
· Maintaining relationships with academic institutions and acting as a placement liaison.
· Providing a supportive environment for trainees.
Members & Safeguarding
· Offer practical and emotional support to Claremont members were appropriate.
· Act as the secondary Safeguarding Lead (the CEO being the primary Lead), managing safeguarding concerns and referrals to external agencies as necessary.
Outreach and Development
· Maintain, and build referral relationships with local GP Practices, social services, community groups and other organisations.
· Represent Claremont at networking events, and forums to raise awareness.
Person Specification and Skills
Qualifications and Experience:
· Professional qualification in psychotherapy or counselling, with current accreditation (e.g., BACP, UKCP)
· Strong organisational skills, including data management, and a high degree of competence using Microsoft Office.
· Ideally, experience managing or supervising psychotherapy services.
· Knowledge and experience of safeguarding procedures and responsibilities (training can be provided).
Essential skills and attributes:
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams and experience.
· Leadership qualities to inspire and support teams.
· Sensitivity to the needs of isolated or vulnerable populations, particularly older people.
· Strong commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality and client wellbeing.
Desirable:
· Experience working within a charity or community-focused organisation.

The Living Well Team:
The Bury Living Well Service is formed from an alliance of mental health services in the Bury area. The staff team is made up of staff from different backgrounds from Pennine Care Foundation Trust, Bury Involvement Group, the Creative Living Centre, and Early Break, and includes both clinical and non-clinical staff who employ a multi-disciplinary team approach to supporting individuals with significant mental health challenges in the community.
Job Summary:
You will form part of the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) provision within the Bury Living Well Model as a member of the Creative Living Centre (CLC) Service Delivery Team. The Link Worker is responsible for case loading adults experiencing mental and emotional distress, offering person-centred and trauma informed support in the community both face to face and via telephone. Ensuring that service users are provided with both initial and ongoing support in either 1:1 or group sessions, as appropriate to their needs which are identified and reviewed on an ongoing basis. You will engage empathically with those you support, providing positive emotional and therapeutic support, through a collaborative approach which focuses on individual strengths rather than deficits, enabling and promoting autonomy and self-care. You will work alongside clinical staff and staff from other VCSE organisations to form multidisciplinary team approach to collaboratively support individuals in the community. You will be supported by the Living Well VCSE Coordinator, Operational Programme Manager and Clinical Lead. CPD opportunities are available and personal interests/skills will be supported to development and growth. This is a new post and there will be an opportunity to help shape and evolve it.
What you can expect in return
The role is 35 hours per week and will have a base in Bury but expected to travel across the Bury area in community settings.
