Our Campaign for Disability Justice, launched in September last year, is a vital initiative to tackle the systemic issues trapping over two million Disabled people in deep poverty. We address the root causes: inefficient social security regardless of employment status, barriers to employment for those capable of work, and a negative public discourse perpetuated by Government. The Campaign calls on Government to collaborate with Disabled People's Organisations to achieve these crucial changes.

As a Housing Support Worker, you will support people with a history of drug and/or alcohol issues who are living in supported housing projects.
You will assist with the daily running of the service and coordinate all aspects of the residents’ care, including referrals, move-in plans, assessments, support planning and case notes.
You will provide practical help and advice to support tenants to keep their tenancies and avoid eviction, including encourage individuals to develop practical skills such as shopping, cooking, and housework.

This is an entry-level role, and we understand that not all candidates will have direct work experience in a similar position. Whilst a passion for working with people affected by addiction or homelessness is crucial, you may also have:
- Experience of working with people with complex needs including challenging or negative behaviour, substance misuse and/or criminal offending backgrounds.
- An understanding of the harmful effects associated with drug and alcohol misuse and offending in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships.

About the role
The Capacity Development unit seeks a Capacity Development Officer to support the implementation of the Advocacy Institute Regional track.
The NCD Advocacy Institute is a flagship Capacity Development initiative designed to strengthen NCD civil society to ensure a more effective NCD response. It consists of a multi-year partnership with organizations and alliances, supporting and strengthening the growth of NCD civil society across selected geographies. Its Seed track supports the establishment of NCD civil society networks in countries/regions where these are non-existent or young. The Accelerator track works with established NCD alliances to strengthen advocacy efforts where there are windows of opportunity for specific NCD policy change.
The Regional track focuses on strengthening regional NCD civil society in their coalition building and advocacy efforts with a key element of leading mobilisation and accountability efforts ahead of and in follow up to, the 2025 High Level Meeting on NCDs. The track supports regional alliances in Africa, Caribbean, Eastern Mediterranean, Latin America and South East Asia and includes a mix of grant support, tailored technical assistance, access to relevant training opportunities (Seed, Accelerator, different thematic tracks according to the capacity needs and strategic interests of each alliance), networking and knowledge exchange opportunities across other regions. The track also focuses on enhancing the role of regional NCD alliances in the capacity building of national NCD alliances in the region and pays special attending to building close linkages with Our Views Our Voices Initiative. A key element of this track is to build effective connections between national, regional and global advocacy efforts and maximise global and regional advocacy opportunities in the lead up, and in follow up, to the 2025 UN High Level Meeting on NCDs.
The Regional Advocacy track aims to:
·Strengthen the organisational capacity of regional alliances as an enabler for effective advocacy, supporting coalition building, strengthening organisational processes and governance structures;
·Support strategic advocacy and accountability efforts led by regional alliances, strengthening linkages between global, regional and national advocacy levels, maximising global advocacy milestones, particularly the 2025 UN High level Meeting on NCDs;
·Promote and support the role of regional NCD alliances in mobilising NCD civil society and national alliances in the region, and the role of regional NCD alliance in supporting regional networks as such.
The Capacity Development Officer will play a key role in the implementation of the Regional track by supporting coalition-building efforts, strengthening regional advocacy initiatives, and enhancing the capacity of NCD alliances to drive policy change. This includes providing grant administration support, facilitating technical assistance, and ensuring effective knowledge exchange between regional and national alliances. Additionally, the officer will contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts, gathering key insights on local conditions and advocacy opportunities to inform tailored capacity development support.

NCDA seeks applicants with suitable experience and background for a full-time role as Capacity Development Officer. This position reports to the UK-based Capacity Development Manager. Core responsibilities
•Support the roll out of the Advocacy Institute’s Regional track, by strengthening regional coalition-building and advocacy efforts, enhancing the capacity of regional NCD alliances to drive policy change and accountability.
•Perform grant administration duties, to support the Advocacy Institute and its Regional track, including grantee communications, support grant awards, monitoring and grantee reporting.
•Monitor local conditions and opportunities for the Advocacy Institute participating alliances and collect M&E data regularly to help with programme development and the provision of tailored technical assistance to NCD alliances part of the Advocacy Institute’s Regional track.
•Support the development of research and knowledge products in support of CD work as needed (e.g., civil society mappings, guides, reports, programme documentation, etc.).
•Support the organisation of the Advocacy Institute trainings and live sessions, and other CD events as required, including supporting curriculum development, participant support, administrative functions, and evaluation.
•Provide written content to promote regional and national activity through NCD Alliance communication channels, including social media and website.
•Leverage NCDA expertise providing technical assistance to alliances and facilitating networking opportunities, enable access to NCDA expertise, advocacy advice and support, and access to a broader network of advocates who can provide peer-to-peer support.
•Support broader Advocacy Institute and NCDA webinars and events for regional and national NCD alliances.
•Coordinate regional and national efforts with global advocacy to ensure maximum impact of the Advocacy Institute and broader CD efforts.
On-going activities:
•Ensure an updated record of activities by organisations and NCD alliances supported by the CD projects and initiatives, to inform NCDAs capacity development, advocacy and communication activities.
•Maintain regular communications with regional and national NCD alliances for advocacy and network updates.
•Gather relevant regional information to support the offering of appropriate and relevant technical assistance to NCDA member regional and national NCD alliances.
•Help maintain an updated contacts database of regional and national NCD alliances.
•Help maintain up to date Capacity Development content in the NCDA website.
•Handle administrative responsibilities in support of CD activities as needed.
•Mobilize regional and national NCD alliances in support of global advocacy campaigns.
•Provide support to civil society regional and national meetings as required, including administrative and content development support.
•Support Advocacy Institute webinars for regional and national NCD alliances.
•Look for opportunities to showcase regional and national progress in global events and platforms.
Required experience and skills:
•Advanced university degree in public health, international relations, public policy, or similar, with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in the non-profit area.
•Demonstrated interest and understanding of global health and development; knowledge of NCDs would be ideal, particularly on aspects related to health policy and/or public health background is preferred.
•International work experience is highly desired, as well as professional knowledge and/or experience of advocacy, policy and/or programmes.
•Excellent organisational and strategic planning skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
•Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment with solid interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
•Excellent judgment, strategic thinker, initiative taker.
•Excellent analysis, writing and oral communications skills in English – foreign language skills are a plus (Spanish and/or French).
•Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

In 2024, Tower Hamlets received Trailblazer funding to develop and implement new models of community-based mental health care that integrate clinical and voluntary sector provision, in line with The Community Mental Health Framework.
The Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance (THMHA) was formed two years ago to create a bold new community-based mental health support service for Tower Hamlets residents. Alongside THMHA members, Look Ahead, and East London Foundation Trust, we are implementing a new community-based, 24/7 mental health care system that prioritises the tailored needs of individuals facing mental health challenges. Our Area Leads are new roles that will add capacity and strength to our team of Bereavement Practitioner’s, Family support workers and volunteers across a defined geographic area. The roles will work with the Head of Service delivery and lead Sandy Bear activity across their designated area, develop strong links across a variety of networks and forums to ensure our beneficiaries access the right support, at the right time.
These roles are great for those passionate about having the opportunity to support our families directly, whilst also being involved in broader development work to enable strong collaborations and partnerships which empower people to achieve better outcomes.
We can't do it alone, so you will spend time working with other organisations and services in collaboration to ensure we don't duplicate provision, instead focussing on gaps in services supporting bereavement for Children, young people and families.
Posts are offered on a full-time basis, though flexible working patterns and some reduced hours may be considered.
Welsh Speakers are particularly welcome for this position or a willingness to learn.

Surgery and anaesthesia have a fundamental and growing impact on global health outcomes. Surgical intervention could address at least 30% of the global burden of disease, and yet the poorest 33% of people receive just 3.5% of all surgery. Post-operative mortality rates 1,000 times higher than in some high-income countries can be found in parts of the world where surgery and anaesthesia have been neglected, and in some countries as many as 90% of anaesthetic departments do not have the equipment to provide a safe anaesthetic for a child.
With 142 Member Societies made up of anaesthesiologists in 151 countries, WFSA is uniquely placed to influence these inequalities and to help ensure universal access to safe surgery and safe anaesthesia. We work to achieve this through four focus areas:

Purpose of Role
In your role of Communications Officer, you will contribute to the delivery of WFSA’s objectives by helping to implement advocacy and communications strategies.
You will report to the Head of Advocacy & Communications and liaise regularly with the rest of the small staff team in the Secretariat. The Secretariat works with and supports a much larger team of expert volunteers around the world. Relationships with Member Societies and our Board and Council will also be important, and an ability to interact across a range of stakeholders is essential.
You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of WFSA’s communications, advocacy and digital learning strategy. You will strengthen WFSA by:
- Supporting the Head of Advocacy & Communications in the delivery of all aspects of our communications, advocacy and digital learning strategy.
- Maintaining and enhancing the WFSA website.
- Developing ideas and creating visual and written content for our website, social platforms, and other outlets.
- Helping to manage and expand our social media presence.
- Developing materials for our fundraising and marketing activities.
- Event coordination (this may include some national and international travel to support events).

RNID Near You Co-ordinator (East Riding)
Remote working in East Riding of Yorkshire
£14,976 pa plus excellent benefits (FTE £24,960)

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we reopen services that unfortunately closed due to the pandemic. As a coordinator, you will focus and lead on developing and delivering our community service across the East Riding of Yorkshire through drop-ins offering:
- practical hearing aid support
- information on hearing loss and tinnitus
- hearing checks
You will be responsible for co-ordinating up to 15 drop-in services and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service across East Riding of Yorkshire.
You will:
- Coordinate our volunteering team to deliver a high level of service at our RNID Near You drop-in sessions.
- Recruit volunteers across the East Riding of Yorkshire to strengthen existing sessions and open new sessions as required.
- Work with NHS audiology to induct and train our volunteers to high standards.
- Promote our sessions to ensure maximum engagement from local hearing-aid users.
- Ensure all paperwork is processed correctly and reports to stakeholders are timely completed.
You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals, and service users. You have experience managing your own workload and are able to work flexibly when required. You can motivate volunteers to assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, to give clear guidance and take into account individual wishes and health needs.
You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word. You will be able to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers and deliver an excellent service across East Riding of Yorkshire. While home based, regular travel to venues where we provide drop-in sessions will be required.

Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning processes to align with organisational and donor strategies
- Manage the implementation of the project to achieve timely and quality delivery
- Support the team in using relevant quality assurance tools
- Monitor project progress, detect, address, or escalate any issues or obstacles promptly
- Identify emerging risks, lead risk analysis, and develop mitigation strategies with support from the CD and other parts of the organisation
- Establish and maintain relationships with the partner organisation, the donor, other implementing partners, and key stakeholders
- Facilitate clear and timely communication, information sharing, and productive engagement with stakeholders
- Attend strategic meetings at the National and Consortium levels and follow up on relevant developments
- Supervise budgeting and expenditure to ensure value for money
- Verify compliance with grant contractual clauses, including financial requirements and reporting
- Guarantee accurate and timely submission of reports to the partner and stakeholders
- Promote collaborative practices and cross-learning with other implementing partners in the Consortium
- Coordinate finance and programme functions for effective operations, and take corrective actions as appropriate
- Ensure budget holders actively monitor and review budgets, addressing issues promptly
- Confirm partner expenditure aligns with approved forecasts

Jobholder Requirements
Essential:
- Medical doctor experience with public health expertise, particularly with the Polio platform
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and effectively function as a team member while respecting diversity
- Strong ability to nurture, mentor, and empower staff at every level
- Proven ability to make effective decisions across a broad range of issues, assess progress, analyse gaps, and implement necessary changes for maximum results
- Ability to identify programmatic issues requiring immediate attention, prioritise, and take timely action
- Result-oriented with a proven track record of delivering impact at scale
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Demonstrated learning agility, proactiveness, and openness to embrace new technologies at work
- Ability to manage large budgets
- Proficient in MS Office
- Strong analytical skills
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant fields related to Sightsavers' thematic areas (NTDs, eye health, disability, and social inclusion), or equivalent
- Extensive experience in an INGO/NGO environment with significant background in a senior management/leadership position and a proven track record of complex programme management at the country level
- Knowledge of project management, budget development and monitoring, and resource management
Desirable:
- Knowledge of advocacy, research, partnership development, and understanding of the Polio Platform and Nigerian Health System
