Job description

St Luke’s Hospice — a beacon of compassion and care in Harrow and Brent.

Since 1987, we’ve been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those nearing life’s end. Our care extends from the serene Kenton Grange to the comfort of home, ensuring every day is lived to the fullest.

Why St Luke’s?

  • Community-Centred Care: We prioritise what matters most to our patients and their families, delivering care with a personal touch.
  • Home-Based Support: Two-thirds of our services are home-based, as we believe in caring for people where they feel most comfortable.
  • Comprehensive Services: From our Inpatient Unit to holistic outpatient support, we offer a full spectrum of care, including emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
  • Education and Collaboration: We share our knowledge with healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance end-of-life experiences.
  • Diverse and Inclusive: Our services are free, inclusive, and respectful of the diverse cultures, religions, and beliefs in our community.
  • Community Funded: Generous local support and over 500 volunteers help us provide unparalleled care.

The Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives? Do you thrive in a caring, inclusive, and high-performing environment? St. Luke’s Hospice invites you to join us as our new Head of People, where your talents will directly contribute to our mission of reaching more people and improving lives.

As the Head of People, you will be at the heart of our organisation, driving strategies to attract, develop, and support our dedicated staff and volunteers. You’ll work closely with our Director of People & Organisational Development, executive directors, and other department heads to foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and empowerment. Your role will be pivotal in shaping a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.

Imagine leading a team committed to caring for those who deliver and need our services, promoting respect and open-mindedness, and striving for excellence in everything we do. You’ll oversee the effective delivery of HR services and provide expert advice to key stakeholders, ensuring our organisation operates smoothly and efficiently.

In this dynamic role, you’ll contribute to the development and implementation of people strategies that align with our core purpose. You’ll lead initiatives like performance management, wellbeing, staff and volunteer engagement, and talent management. Your work will help transform our culture and support our mission to extend our impact through collaboration, innovation, and education.

We believe in continuous improvement, and you’ll drive this by optimising our HR information systems, leading digital innovations, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation. Your efforts will help us maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone at St. Luke’s.

Join us and be part of an organisation that values caring, respect, excellence, inclusivity, and empowerment. Use your talents to make a real impact and help us continue to be an accountable and sustainable organisation. If you’re ready to lead with passion and drive, we’d love to hear from you!
