The Human Rights Fund gives grants to progressive groups and organisations which actively promote and defend human rights and seek transformational change.We don’t fund the fashionable and well-endowed, but rather seek to identify where there is real need and where we can make a genuine difference.We typically fund organisations which may be doing unique or unusual work, often in challenging circumstances.We are sympathetic to new and recently-founded organisations and those which have difficulty in raising funds.We are pro-active and do not accept unsolicited applications for funds (which explains why we do not have a website).
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, well organised and numerate.You should be well-informed about, and have an understanding of, one or more of the issues which our grant-funding programme addresses, namely:
- Palestinian rights
- Alternative media
- Violence against women and girls
- Social justice
You are likely to have experience in either grant giving, working for an NGO or campaigning. You will research potential grantees, conduct due diligence, monitor grantees (which includes developing good relationships) and review grants.

Key Tasks
- Within agreed parameters, identify and research potential grantees including due diligence and meeting with leadership of potential grantees

- Liaising with other funders, fiscal sponsors or charities
Experience and Skills
Essential
- Understanding of and commitment to human rights
- Experience with an NGO, charity or campaign, preferably in areas relevant to the Fund’s work
- Well-informed about, and have an understanding of, one or more of our funding tracks – Palestinian rights, alternative media, violence against women and girls, and social justice
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
- Good level of numeracy and the ability to understand a basic budget
- Good IT skills including good working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and other relevant software
- Well organised self-starter, methodical and accurate with good attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative

Responsibilities and key deliverables
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the primary objective of the role is to:
- Review and update Hand in Hand International’s Employee Handbook, working with the Director of Finance
- Review all organisational policies and recommend relevant updates, ranking these in order of priority
- Implement updates to organisational policies in order of priority
- Review performance management templates and update for the new financial year starting 01 April 2025 where needed, including building out the employee career development plan
- Review employment contracts and code of conduct, suggest any necessary amendments
- Provide HR guidance to employees and line managers in the event of any queries (ad hoc)
- Provide strategic HR advice to help shape the future HR function of the organisation

About the Role
HMM singing groups are expanding, and we are seeking enthusiastic Singing Group Leaders to run our established and new singing sessions in East and North Herts. This is a rewarding freelance role focused on delivering engaging and uplifting singing sessions for people living with dementia and their carers. For the successful candidate/s full training on how our sessions should be delivered will be provided however, a strong confident singing voice and your own transport is essential to this role. As well as this a good repertoire of songs is helpful and the ability to learn songs quickly is very useful. Most of our sessions are acapella but some leaders do use guitars or piano to add contrast. Whilst we use music therapy techniques a qualification in this field is not essential.
Our sessions last approximately 90 minutes (plus 15 minutes required for setting up). There will be a small amount of administration required like managing member attendance and session fees. You will be supported by a team of volunteers.
In addition to leading regular singing groups, there are opportunities to take part in events and commissions throughout the year.
Valuable skills and attributes
- Strong and confident singing voice
- Ability to engage and inspire a group.
- Good knowledge of a variety of songs from accross the decades and ability to learn new ones quickly.
- Compassionate and patient approach, particularly with individuals living with dementia.
- Basic administrative skills for managing attendance and session fees.
- Experience in leading choirs, community singing groups, or working with vulnerable groups is an advantage.
- Experience working with individuals livivng with dementia is also an advantage (although not essential).

At Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, we’re looking for a new Supporter Engagement Officer to serve the Gloucestershire area. This job primarily involves providing excellent stewardship for our supporters across Gloucestershire, but it also requires a lot of passion - for our cause, for the people we help and most importantly for the people who help us save lives.
We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to doing their best, a person who can work independently but can collaborate within and beyond their team, who has compassion for our supporters and stakeholders and who is curious about exploring new approaches and keen to learn and develop. Whilst having experience of working with a charity would be beneficial, it is not essential. The successful candidate will have great customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to manage and develop projects. Are you passionate about supporting unpaid carers? Do you have experience in raising money through individual giving, corporate support, or major donors? Are you looking for a flexible part-time role? Here is your chance to join an incredible charity within a small fundraising team.
The post holder will work with the Fundraising Manager to work on diversifying the fundraising streams for Carers in Hertfordshire. They will support all aspects of fundraising with a focus on building our supporter category and donors either via individual giving, corporate support, or major donors, although support all around will be expected.
Diversifying our fundraising is an important part of our fundraising strategy. We want to increase our unrestricted income to provide flexibility and security for projects which otherwise may cease to exist, as well as raising awareness across the county.
The post-holder will work alongside the Community Fundraising Officer and Fundraising Manager when attending events, both raising awareness, having fun, and raising funding for the incredible work of the charity.
Depending on your fundraising experience. you will be responsible for proactively developing our supporter category in the forms of corporate support, or individual giving, or major donors. The aim is to diversify our income streams and generate ongoing, long-term support.
We are looking for a self-motivated, charismatic, people-person who has a demonstrable record of raising income and profile at a local level and who understands the value in building quality, long-term relationships with individuals, corporates, and major donors.
You will communicate and work with a variety of stakeholders ranging from our wonderful team members, external groups, individuals, local fundraisers, schools, and businesses.
Main duties
To develop, support and deliver Carers in Hertfordshire’s strategy for unrestricted Fundraising.
- Develop an individual giving, corporate support, or major donor programme to feed into our Fundraising Strategy.
- Depending on your skillset:
- If you have a Corporate focus - Identify and engage with local businesses and organisations to fundraise on our behalf– with the aim of securing long-term charity partnerships
- If you have an Individual Giving focus – develop our supporter category to encourage regular donations across our donor platforms
- If you have a Major Donor focus – identify and develop relationships with key major giving stakeholders across the county to secure ongoing fundraising support
- Ensure seamless stewardship for supporters regardless of donation size
- Increase unrestricted income and support either through individual giving, major giving, or corporate supporters
- To develop and manage your fundraising campaign with the support of the Fundraising Manager
- To support the Fundraising Manager with wider fundraising activity including community events
- Ensure all fundraising activity complies with charity legislation, Fundraising Standards Board/Fundraising Regulator guidelines, Carers in Hertfordshire’s policies and procedures and Health and Safety requirements - and advise our supporters, where appropriate by sharing best practice guidelines.
