About us
Who we are
Herts Musical Memories (HMM) was established in April 2017 to continue the vital work of the Alzheimer’s Society’s 'Singing for the Brain' program, which was set to be discontinued due to funding changes. HMM recognised the urgent need for ongoing, accessible support for individuals with dementia and their carers, therefore we formed a month after Singing for the brain ceased to exist. Ever since, HMM has been providing music therapy based sessions across Hertfordshire in our 10 locations, supporting approximatley 250 indivuals per week.
Our services aim to stimulate memories in people with dementia (PWD), slow the progression of the disease and reduce isolation. This is done through musical therapy techniques (which have been developed by the Alzhiemers society in accordance with scientific research), alongside the opportunity to socialise with others that benefits both PWD and their carer/family members.
