Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 (dependent upon experience)

About the Role

The Head of HR & Operations role is a key position within a Youth Zone, you’ll wear lots of different hats, leading and managing the back-office functions, overseeing monthly payroll administration to serving as the secretariat for the Board of Trustees.  It’s up to you to ensure the team deliver the best possible service to the thousands of young people who rely on them.

Before the Youth Zone opens and during its construction, there will be elements of hybrid working in place and opportunities to visit Youth Zones across the Network.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced and professional operational manager with HR expertise, who is passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives and thrives in a fast-paced, varied environment.

You will have experience of:

• General HR functions, including HR practices, procedures and policies.
• Basic accounts work and/or payroll
• Working in a senior administrative roles within a busy office environment
• Operational management & line management responsibility for a large, varied staff team
• Managing budgets
• Providing support at Board or Chief Executive level
• Working with external stakeholders and partners, e.g. contracts, service agreements, commissioning

About the Organisation

This is a brand-new locally run youth charity, set to provide thousands of young people with the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, try something new and feel safe. CHT is a dynamic, innovative and expanding charity in the adult mental health sector. To help realise our ambitions we are looking for an experienced fundraising and communications expert as Head of Fundraising and Communications. This is a new role and we are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and creative person with the expertise and drive to make the role their own, to expand our capacity and reach, and to grow the role, their team and the charity.

CHT

CHT is a mental health charity that provides seven rehabilitative residential communities in London and Sussex for people experiencing severe mental health difficulties, and training in the field of relational practice in mental health.

Poor mental health is a national crisis. Those with the severest of mental health difficulties experience  a high risk of suicide and self-harm, a lack of independence, and a loss of hope. Though many are still young adults, most of our residents have spent years in psychiatric hospitals before coming to CHT; medication alone is not the answer. For 30 years, CHT has provided a unique approach with a distinct clinical model. We work with individuals with a history of multiple or prolonged hospital admissions, providing an alternative, longer-term solution that enables the majority of our residents to move on to lower support, with many taking up education, training or employment while still with us – a stark contrast to psychiatric hospital. 

Purpose of role 

As part of our five-year strategic plan two years ago CHT commissioned a part-time consultant to develop our fundraising and communications capacity from scratch. We now feel that the time is right to build on the work done so far and to step up a gear and appoint our own full-time Head of Fundraising and Communications who will lead on the further growth of our fundraising capacity and fully develop our marketing. This is a new post for someone creative and innovative who wants to step up in their career and help CHT step up in our fundraising and communications capabilities. We are a growth-oriented charity both in terms of personal learning and development and in terms of our role in the mental health sector, and we are looking for an individual who brings established fundraising and communications skills and who is looking for an opportunity for personal and professional growth.

The purpose of the Head of Fundraising and Communications role is to lead on implementing the Board of Trustees’ strategic objectives in increasing our fundraising capacity and income; developing our marketing capacity and reputation management so that we enjoy high levels of referrals and a higher sector profile both as a provider of services and as a training organisation; and to line manage CHT’s small existing fundraising and communications team.

Youth Action Wiltshire (YAW) is the youth arm of the award-winning charity Community First. We are looking for someone to manage the suite of YAW services, including Young Carers services, Splash, employability work, Youth Clubs Support and young people’s mental health programmes including BeMindful. You will oversee operations, plan, develop and implement a strategy for operational growth and development across Youth Action Wiltshire services. As part of the Community First Leadership team you will also contribute to the strategic development of Community First to meet the charity’s objectives and Business Plan.

You will have relevant experience of successfully managing high quality youth support services, experience of motivating and supervising staff and volunteers. A successful track record of fundraising, service development and delivery, budget management and report writing. We are looking for someone who is creative, flexible and able to relate to and inspire young people, staff, partners and funders.

The role will include some evening, weekend and school/college holiday working.

Line Manage the team of Quality Managers, providing direction, support and development where required.

About the opportunity

The Head of School Marketing will lead and deliver comprehensive, cross-organisational marketing initiatives that result in an increase in the number of schools partnering with Action Tutoring. This role will define, deliver and adapt marketing strategies that effectively communicate the charity's value proposition to schools, leading to increased interest and sales. Essential qualifications and experience criteria:
 

• Significant experience shaping and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to engage a range of audiences, with experience in B2B marketing ideally with schools. 
• Proficiency in lead generation and demand generation techniques and technical skills to engage a range of audiences.
• Experience designing and delivering campaigns that drive conversion of leads into sales opportunities (e.g. booking of a sales call).

We are working in partnership with Blind Veterans UK, a military charity, who provide veterans with rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support. They help blind ex-Service people of every generation lead the life they choose, rebuilding lives after sight loss, away from isolation and towards a life of fulfilment.

The charity is in a period of transformation. Over the next two years they will be revising the organisational strategy and planning for a new future, so that they are able to deliver the best possible support to their existing and potential beneficiaries from a financially sustainable position. The Head of People & Culture will provide support and leadership to the HR partners and advisors and ensure fair and consistent delivery of the Charity’s HR service. This role will be a change agent, and strategic partner, contributing to, and leading business conversations. 

The Head of People & Culture will play a key role in change management, employee relations, talent management, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Current, extensive knowledge of key HR processes and best practice.
• Experience of leading, motivating, and supporting HR teams.
• Relationship management, especially at managerial and stakeholder levels.
• Business management, including financial management and strategic planning.
• Comprehensive understanding of employment laws, including inclusion and diversity programmes.
• Comprehensive understanding of the charity sector, focus area and business trends.
• Demonstrable experience of applying the principles of coaching and/or mentoring.

Celebrating its 110th anniversary this year, Buckinghamshire Mind is an independent charity that is proud to be affiliated with national Mind. With a recently refreshed strategy this is  an exciting time to join the organisation and champion mental health – ensuring that no future mind is left behind. Buckinghamshire Mind is part of a network of over 100 Local Minds, which provide trusted and innovative mental health services to their communities. The charity provides services that promote wellbeing and recovery;  prevent mental ill health, offer talking therapies and provide support in times of crisis.

This is a permanent, part-time (30 hours) role paying a salary of £50,000 FTE per annum. The role is hybrid  from their offices in High Wycombe. 

As a pivotal, newly created role for Buckinghamshire Mind the Head of Income Generation and Communications will be a member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the strategic direction and operational management of the charity. In addition to Buckinghamshire, this also includes their services in East Berkshire – as part of their Mind in Berkshire partnership with Oxfordshire Mind.

In this role, leading a small team, you will develop, implement, and monitor the fundraising strategy, introducing new initiatives to diversify and generate income. You will also oversee the delivery of the communications strategy. You will be innovative in your approach and have a passion to see Buckinghamshire Mind, and Mind in Berkshire, expand their portfolios of mental health services to fulfil the mission of ‘a mentally healthy society’.

They are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of leading and delivering on income generation and associated activities such as fundraising, corporate engagement, marketing, networking, and relationship management. You will have proven experience in leading on external communications (including digital), developing campaigns to generate donations/corporate giving and associated activities such as public relations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with great interpersonal skills and an advice background, to manage our advice services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of advice services including oversight of training, supervising the quality of advice given and managing the performance of staff and volunteers. This busy and varied role will rely on your ability to bring out the best in the team as well as to ensure the highest quality of advice across our many and varied projects.,

You will be part of the Senior Management Team, inputting into the running of the office. You will ensure new initiatives are implemented smoothly and that volunteers, staff and supervisors are appropriately supported and developed.
