Kingston Race and Equalities Council’s (KREC) is an independent Charity which works towards the elimination of racial discrimination and associated inequalities; promotes equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different racial groups; addresses the Human Rights and needs of all communities

Kingston Race and Equalities Council (KREC) are working in partnership with South West London Health and Care Partners to develop an Anti-Racist approach across South West London. KREC is working on engagement with community and voluntary organisations to make sure our approach is co-designed with local people and communities, ensuring it resonates and that initiatives have meaningful impact. 

One of the ways KREC plans to do this work is to identify and work with a number of community and voluntary organisations to help determine what issues communities consider should be tackled to help address Racism in SW London. 

About the role

If you are energetic and passionate about Race and Community Engagement then this is an exciting opportunity for you. KREC is seeking to recruit a part time Officer to work within South West London to help develop an Anti-Racist approach. This is an opportunity to be in the centre of change for communities in SW London, at the same time developing a new approach to reduce race discrimination and inequality in health services. The role will manage a grants programme and work in partnership with those organisations funded to gain valuable insight in developing our approach across South West London.

Location of work: Flexible. This post holder will be based at home but daily travel to schools or other establishments within your allocated local area will be required including some early morning breakfast visits. The role will require irregular travel throughout the UK with minimal overnight stays.

BACKGROUND 

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons.  Magic Breakfast also undertakes research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.  

This is an exciting time at Magic Breakfast, as we have expanded our team to meet the challenge of ending morning hunger for now, and for good.

JOB PURPOSE 

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The Service Delivery team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of our breakfast provision. As Engagement Partner, you will work with relevant partners (schools, local authorities, parents, parent councils) to ensure that breakfast provision is optimized, encouraging reach and providing education on relevant topics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Pipeline development and cultivation:   

• To develop a relationship with the supported schools in their respective area, to enable, preserve, embed, enhance and extend stigma and barrier free breakfast pron.

• To educating and engage with the wider school community, including teachers, parents and children and young people on the importance of breakfast and implications of hunger as a barrier learning through various means including assemblies, staff meetings, online events and regional events throughout the academic year.

• To engage with the wider community to advocate for the importance of breakfast, the work that we are doing in existing schools and to support our campaigning and advocacy strategy and plans.

• To develop brand awareness in schools and local communities in line with our marketing strategy

• To support the recruitment of new schools with launching new breakfast provisions, adapting to the requirements of the school and children and young people, and advising on best practise

• To support any media requests as directed through the Policy & Engagement team

• To capture and report on “storytelling” to enable the organisation to utilise qualitative data to support external communication

• To explore, share and deliver on new engagement ideas across the department and organisation

• To enable, support and feedback on new ways of working, trials and innovations

Soteria London is a Community Interest Company (CIC) whose mission is to create compassionate alternatives for individuals experiencing crisis and distress, especially for those experiencing altered states, often called psychosis,  and their families and social networks. We are part of a larger network in the UK and abroad, which promotes the Soteria model of personal relationships, interactive activities and communities with the minimal use of psychiatric medication within a comfortable “living community” as opposed to a conventional psychiatric setting.

We are looking for a  part-time Community Development Worker to help grow supportive communities for people experiencing altered states, often called psychosis, and their families and social networks. in North London with a specific focus on Haringey/Camden/Islington. The role will focus on mapping and building neighbourhood communities that offer kinder alternatives to mainstream services,  and will involve working closely with individuals, their families and social networks.

We are planning to submit a bid in April 2025 for a 24/7 Community Mental Health Pilot as set out in the NHS England invitation and the Community Development Worker will play a key role in growing partnerships and facilitating the community led development of this bid. The successful candidate will employ compassionate, empowering, and community-centred social justice approaches that address racial, gender, and class inequities.

The freelance role include:

● Creating inclusive communities of support, that value diversity and cultural sensitivity, to support people in crisis and distress, especially people experiencing altered states, often called psychosis, and their families and social networks, with a focus on Haringey/Camden/Islington

● Building new and strengthening existing relationships with like-minded individuals and organisations

● Setting up a Soteria supportive central hub or community space to facilitate activities and collaborations

● Help people find their voice through creative, artistic and well-being and somatic initiatives, such as our "Soteria in the Pub" program and body work sessions.

● Promoting collaborative learning through events and sharing sessions to explore and reflect on existing and historical compassionate, empowering and community focused approaches to supporting people in crisis and distress and their families and networks, to identify what may work in our local communities in Haringey/Camden/Islington

● Exploring options for piloting support to individuals and their families and networks in their own homes - a ‘Soteria at Home’ approach

● Developing and gathering feedback on a pilot approach to supporting  individuals who wish to reduce or cease their medications.

● Identifying the learning and training needs for the proposed areas of work that have come through our collaborative piloting, learning and reflection. These include the requirements for operating a Soteria House and a Soteria at Home approach; exploring and developing various forms of peer support, including models like Hearing Voices, Open Dialogue, and Intentional Peer Support.

● Drawing on the activities above to develop a bid for an exciting NHS England 24/7 Community Mental Health pilot project where people are in control of their own care, as well as exploring other possible funding options for our proposed areas of work

Community Hub Coordinator

Early Years Community Worker

We are looking for an Early Years Community Worker to join our caring, creative and resourceful Hackney Playbus early years team, with additional responsibility for coordinating the staff team schedule and ensuring that appropriate resources are in place to deliver our programme. 

Together we run stay and play sessions from a bright and beautiful double-decker bus that has been converted into a mobile early years community play space. Our sessions take place both inside and outside the Playbus in different locations across Hackney, providing a rich play and learning environment for children aged 0-4yrs old and a welcoming space for their parents and carers. We listen to the needs of parents and carers and help families to access support services where needed. 

As well as our Playbus sessions, we bring our informal, welcoming approach to baby groups that we run in community settings.

Staff scheduling

We are looking for a Community Support Worker to join our team. You will be responsible for providing advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing.

Community Support (PCN) Service Objectives

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental ill health.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental ill health, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To reduce the use of crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.
• To contribute to an improvement in the proportion of people with mental ill health who are accessing support.
• To provide an assertive outreach approach for clients who are in crisis and/ or those that may have complex or multiple needs.

The Successful Candidate will

• Provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing.
• Work closely with GP surgeries within the Primary Care Network.
• Ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• Be an independent source of support for all clients.
• Embed a person-centered and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles. The Recovery approach includes empathy, warmth, acceptance, authenticity, compassion and humanity.

Key Accountabilities

• To receive referrals a wide range of referral pathways.
• To undertake initial contact with clients and complete a holistic needs assessment, making use of assertive outreach work to achieve the initial client contact, if required.
• To provide holistic support both outreach and in our centres and advocacy services to clients experiencing mental ill health.
• Ensure all person-centered risk assessments and support plans are completed as appropriate.
• To accompany clients to initial visits and appointments as necessary in order to ensure the sustained use of existing support services.
• To liaise with other agencies to ensure that clients receive appropriate support and continue to remain engaged with the service.
• To assist clients to access appropriate mental health services, drug and alcohol services, housing/tenancy services and other services according to assessed needs.
• To establish effective pathways across a variety of agencies to maximise and provide effective partnership working.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was born out of the tragic story of Suzy Lamplugh, a 25-year-old estate agent who went missing whilst at work in 1986, was never found, and was eventually declared deceased in 1993. The Trust was set up in Suzy’s name and continues to be a pioneer in reducing the risk and prevalence of abuse, aggression and violence - with a specific focus on stalking and harassment – through education, campaigning and support.

Our Stalking Helpline offers support and advice to thousands of victims of stalking every year, while our bespoke advocacy teams work closely with partners and stakeholders across the Violence Against Women and Girls’ (VAWG) sector, the criminal justice system, and both statutory and non-statutory services to ensure our clients can live a live free from abuse and fear.

We are an organisation that has:

• been responsible for training over one million lone and frontline workers across all sectors in personal safety;
• campaigned heavily and played a pivotal role in driving changes in the law to better protect people across the UK; and
• supported over 75,000 victims and survivors of stalking since the inception of our National Stalking Helpline and stalking advocacy service.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a new role in the organisation that will work in the Policy and Campaigns Team but create impact across all of our work.  The roleis responsible for supporting and developing our social media and our awareness raising activity in communities across the UK.  You will be pivotal in promoting the Trust's mission and enhancing our online presence.  You will lead strategic social media content creation and campaigns, manage reputation, and collaborate with various teams to ensure consistency in messaging.

• Creating and scheduling social media content and reacting to key events and interactions
• Updating our website
• Developing and delivering information about stalking, personal safety and harrassment and our services to a wide range of community groups
• Supporting our experts by experience/lived experience groups to influence policy and service provision across the sector

Ability to hold a case load and carry out support work within the local community being alert to the mental health needs of residents of Newham.

Provide support and signposting in various ways as agreed upon with the PCN and in a wider partnership. This may include (but is not exclusive):

 Meeting patients face to face in informal and formal settings to encourage engagement

 Work within the MDT of the PCN, taking actions as agreed by the Multi Disciplinary Teams  and recording the outputs and outcomes appropriately

Provide individual patients support and signposting in a range of ways as agreed with the PCN and wider delivery partnership

Group facilitation Coaching, Building Trust, and Motivating people in their progress

Referrals to other mental health provision within the Borough of Newham 

Direct, individual support to patients on a case-by-case basis and assessing pertinent signs (as trained)

Signposting to community services

Ongoing monitoring of risk to build a positive but sensitive attitude to caseload

 Providing clarity to the MDT and people on their lists as to how different areas of their need are being addressed by the other provisions they are engaged with

Provide continuity and reassurance to the people on case load

Build resilience in the people on caseload and ensure themes are fed back into design, delivery, and the development of services

Provide feedback to the PCN team and upwards about the gaps in service provision as illustrated by the people they are working with

referrals should be done within 28 days of the mental health need being identified in line with guidance offered by the PCN

What does good look like for this role?

Goals will be agreed upon with you in collaboration with your line manager at Aston-Mansfield and with our lead partners Community Links MIND and ELFT The successful management of your respective caseload – strong initial assessment, action planning and goal setting, networking with relevant stakeholders, and active, engaging patients both face to face and remotely will be critical aspects of the role. Working with multiple agencies collaboratively that promotes patient welfare and outcomes whilst sharing learning and impact is essential in the role's success, as is inquisitiveness and confidence in the approach. Induction and training will be provided for this role.

Main responsibilities

· Development and implementation of a fundraising strategy including a portfolio aimed at generating in the region of £500,000 per annum, building on existing fundraising activities and developing new fundraising initiatives.

· Use the portfolio indicators to enable us to make informed projections regarding future income.

· Be proactive in identifying, engaging and building good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. Deepen our engagement and grow our relationship with existing corporate donors.

· Work with the team to develop our church and faith partnerships to ensure these are increased, ongoing and become regular supporters.

· Explore and implement ways of promoting Good Company and its projects to successfully attract individual donors, some of which will be in the high value supporters' field alongside provide regular communications to current funders and run one off campaigns.

· Explore and increase our income from grant giving trusts and foundations. At times working in fundraising partnerships with support of external consultants and colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network

· Implement a CRM system to oversee the above aspects.

· Share best practice and learning from other charities across the Trussell network.

· Support our partnership work with other Trussell based foodbanks in Surrey to address poverty.

Through this new organisational role, you will proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, community groups, the faith sector and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll be at the heart of our local community, bringing our cause to life and building lasting donor relationships.

Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with individuals, community groups, trusts and foundations and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets. You’ll have the capacity to create and craft compelling proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

About the role

The Engagement & Outreach Service Manager will lead the development and implementation of this service, combining previous work from CIT and Wellbeing teams, as well as managing a team of Outreach Workers and Complex Needs Case Workers. The Service Manager will deliver effective service within the Passage Resource Centre and across the outreach footprint and will develop and implement an EASL service within the Engagement & Outreach Service, liaising closely with the EASL team to tailor the service to meet clients needs.

Main duties

• The lead on the development, implementation, and day to day running of the service, treating every client with dignity and respect.
• To take a key role in the smooth running of the Passage Resource Centre, carrying out Duty Manager responsibilities in collaboration with other Community Services Managers.
• To provide inspirational leadership and day to day management/supervision of the team, which includes the CIT Coordinator, CIT Outreach Workers, and specialist Complex Needs Case Workers.
• To develop and foster positive working relationships with diverse partner organisations, with a specific focus on outreach, health and treatment related partners.
• To be the lead expert for the organisation around the themes of health and wellbeing, dual diagnosis, mental health and substance use, translating this to providing expertise.

Desired experience

• Leading a team or teams delivering effective services to groups of vulnerable clients, in either a supported housing, support, care or other relevant environment and monitoring the performance of those services.
• Experience of writing and implementing operational plans and contributing to longer term planning.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a manager for our Aldgate East Charity Shop. The ultimate aim of the Manager’s job is to manage staff, volunteers and available resources to the optimum benefit of SCT, terms of both income and the mission of the Charity in supporting people in recovery from addition, achieved through:

Charity retail management (60%)

• Ensuring the safe and profitable running of the shop leading a team of staff and volunteers to motivate them to deliver exceptional customer service to customers and donors; recruiting, training and managing and team according to SCT’s values, policies and procedures.
• Maximising sales, engagement and impact to achieve set targets to raise Unrestricted Income for charitable objectives by contributing surplus of in excess of £100,000 per annum.
• Establishing and maintaining effective retail processes and merchandising standards to industry standards of best practice.
• Maintaining effective stock management.
• Carrying out shop administration.
• Interpreting and acting on basic financial reports and KPI’s
• Taking necessary action to repair and maintain the premises and to take all reasonable steps to protect SCT property from theft, damage or fire.

• Ensuring that the community shop is a safe and supportive space for everyone, working closely with SCT’s Community Recovery Team to help individuals access specialist support where relevant.
• Developing a programme of onsite small-scale community activities drawing on the expertise of SCT’s community tutors, local community and SCT’s wider recovery community in their design and delivery.
• Building and developing relationships with local community agencies, with the support of SCT’s Community Recovery Team, to promote opportunities to support those vulnerable to addiction and/or homelessness.
