What is a Nutley Edge Activity Break?

Nutley Edge Activity Breaks are Outward’s supported holidays for adults with learning disabilities and autism. They are five days and four nights long and take place at our beautiful holiday site near Uckfield in East Sussex. Every break is themed and guests take part in a range of activities such as archery, art, music, yoga, and day trips to local towns, cities, and historical sites. Our breaks give guests the opportunity to get away for a holiday, meet new people, and explore the best of East Sussex.

What is the role of the Manager? 

As manager, with the support of the deputy(s), you will organise varied and fun breaks for our guests. This includes carrying out assessments for new guests, supporting the team to deliver respite care, coaching the staff team, and embedding high standards in the service. We run 20 breaks a year and wish to grow this number, around about 10 of which are led by the Activity Team Manager on site in East Sussex. During activity breaks food and your own room is provided and an additional sleep in payment for each night supporting a break is paid.  

We are a London based charity and welcome applicants for this role on the understanding they are able to support at least 10 breaks throughout a year (providing day and overnight support for 5 days/ 4 nights at a time in East Sussex), are able to travel to our North East London offices to attend meetings and training sessions, and travel to assessments and marketing events as required. 

In the role, you will: 

• Manage all aspects of the activity breaks

What qualities and experience should the ideal candidate have?

We are looking for somebody who has:

• Experience managing the support provided for people with a learning disability, autism, and complex needs (including behaviours of distress)

• Excellent communication skills and IT skills

• Experience of staff management and the ability to lead by example to develop a strong team

• Creativity and flexibility, with experience of dealing with the unexpected

• Experience carrying out needs assessments and creating support and risk management plans

• A commitment to providing high quality and personalised active support 

• A commitment to upholding the rights of people we support to be involved at all levels of decision making. 

• A passion for engaging, enabling, and empowering people with autism or a learning disability to lead the lives they want

• Knowledge of managing a budget

• A driving licence and willingness to drive a minibus is desirable

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. We also provide a small year round night shelter provision. 

APAP works in close partnership with a number of key agencies locally including drug and alcohol teams, street outreach services, local authority housing teams and the wider VCS. We are a gateway service in the community through which our clients can access a range of support. 

The Community Fundraising and Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships within the local community to support APAP’s fundraising efforts, including schools, local businesses, faith and community groups. A key feature of this role will be developing increased year-round community engagement and fundraising, leading into the planning and delivery of at least one annual fundraising campaign. Our family support workers really focus on what we do at a grass roots level. Providing support to families on a daily basis as well as supporting and coordinating volunteers. Prior work with children and families is advantageous as is some knowledge of bereavement. However, full training and support will be given to the successful candidate.

Bereavement support is a challenging area of work, but also extremely fulfilling whether as a long-term career, or to develop experience and knowledge that can be transfered into other roles within the education, health and social care sectors. Attitude and aptitude are as important as prior skills and experience.

Our Area Leads are new roles that will add capacity and strength to our team of Bereavement Practitioner’s, Family support workers and volunteers across a defined geographic area. 2. Supporting the FOOD Club Coordinator to carry out regular compliance checks to ensure the quality and safety of the service, in order to protect service users and Family Action. 

3. Ensuring all aspects of the role are carried out in line with food safety/hygiene standards.

4. Ensure volunteers are using up-to-date allergies forms to prevent any risk to service users.

5. Support the FOOD Club Coordinator with financial checks, stock control, recruitment, induction and training of volunteers.

6. Recording accurate data to enable the FOOD Club Coordinator to report on KPIs, including uptake of the scheme, service user income, and the positive financial impact on families. 

7. Encourage regular attendance at FOOD Clubs to ensure income is maintained and to prevent food wastage. 

8. Provide regular feedback to the FOOD Club Coordinator on the quality of food and resources from suppliers.

At Endometriosis UK, we are passionate about driving political change for the 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth living with endometriosis in the UK. This role will play an instrumental role in supporting the campaigns and policy function within the wider Communications Team.

This will be a busy, varied and important role working closely with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Head of Campaigns and Communications to provide administration and wider support for the charity’s growing policy and campaigns function. Key Responsibilities 

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work.
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear trainees. This includes running application workshops with past trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics. 

Relationship Management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations.
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre.

Church Community

• The Assistant Coach is directly employed by River Church, though it is not a requirement of the role for the successful candidate to join River Church as their worshipping community if they are already part of another local church
• Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within River Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation.

This role will suit you if you are:

• An active Christian, able to personally represent the values and beliefs of Resurgo and River Church, Ipswich.
• Passion for social justice and for working as part of the church to transform communities, especially supporting young people in employment or education.
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills, both over telephone and face to face; particularly a confidence in group facilitation.
• A commitment to grow and learn as a Christian leader, and a desire to learn and understand coaching techniques.
• An ambitious and self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritise workload, exercise initiative and work well under pressure.
• High emotional intelligence, a sense of humour and fun!

A couple of things to note:

• This role requires occasional evening work, for our termly Spear Celebrations (where we celebrate our trainees as they complete the initial six weeks of the programme).
