We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) to work mainly on our Research Grant Programme. As part of our Research Funding team, you will support high quality and innovative research on the effects of diet, nutrition, physical activity, and body size on cancer prevention and survival, managing an international portfolio of projects and working closely with leading researchers around the world.

In addition to the Research Grant programme, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other Research Funding activities such as our Academy programme and work closely with colleagues across the Science department and with other departments such as PR & Editorial and Fundraising.

The Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) will work mainly on the post award phase (e.g. active monitoring of funded projects, liaison with our grant holders, supporting our Academy programme initiative and evaluation of the impact of our funded research).

You will have experience working in a fast-paced research environment, whether in academia or research administration/management. Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential for engaging a diverse range of audiences. Additionally, you should possess a solid understanding of statistical analysis. A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or Nutrition is required, while a Master’s degree is preferred but not essential. An interest in science communication and social media is also desirable.

We’re looking for a dedicated Case Officer to manage casework and provide direct support, advice, and guidance to beneficiaries on a wide range of issues including health, social care, employment, benefits, statutory support, and housing.

In this role, you will assess the needs of beneficiaries and collaborate with regional specialist teams and external service providers to ensure that support is delivered in an integrated and effective way. You will also develop creative, tailored solutions, drawing on contributions from volunteers, our members, and branches to meet beneficiaries' unique needs.

Additionally, you will work closely with the Casework Services Manager and Head of Welfare to identify and address local beneficiary needs, helping shape the commissioning of specialist services. You will advise beneficiaries on available support and assist them in accessing the services they need, while maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of statutory benefits. Building strong connections with local organizations to reach beneficiaries in the community will also be a key part of your work.

The role is primarily homebased with will have regular travel around the London region for internal meetings and visiting beneficiaries, therefore you will need to live in a location that allows reasonable travel around this area.

There will also be occasional travel nationally to attend training / meetings.

Driving licence is essential requirement for this role.

The Role

The North West England Methodist District (NWED) is seeking to appoint a Digital Enabler. The role is home-based, with travel throughout the District. The Digital Enabler will facilitate the effective participation by all members in the life of the Church in the North West England District by supporting stakeholders at all levels to facilitate digital evangelism and building and maintaining the District’s online presence.

NWED came to being in September 2024 following the joining together of a number of Methodist Districts. We cover the geographical area of Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and parts of Cheshire and Derbyshire. Within this are inner city, industrial, post-industrial, suburban, and rural areas – no two towns are the same.

We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland.  You will be home based living in the North of Scotland.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. You will work with both statutory and voluntary organisations, clinicians, and health and social care professionals to ensure that people living with muscle wasting conditions get the care and support they need to live well and independently.

About the Programme

The Creative Minds Programme is a six-month initiative promoting mental health and well-being through creative activities like painting, music, writing, and more. Open to adults (over the age of 18) in West Kent, the programme offers inclusive, free sessions led by professional artists and supported by wellbeing workers. Participants need no prior experience, just enthusiasm and a desire to improve their mental health.

Key Objectives include boosting confidence, fostering connections, enhancing life skills, and increasing participants' ability to manage their mental health and support others.

Now in its second year, the programme aims to support 864 adults over three years, with a focus on those with mental health challenges or feelings of loneliness. In addition to creative workshops, the programme offers leadership training to select participants, empowering them to become "Creative Agents." These agents lead "Creative Places" to engage the wider public in community-based creative activities.

The programme is set to conclude in March 2026, with two more rounds of activities still to come.

About the role

Our Creative Minds programme, funded by the National Lottery, is designed to enhance mental health and wellbeing for adults in West Kent through engaging in creative activities. These 24-week programmes are held in various locations across West Kent and are conducted in collaboration with professional artists, local arts organisations, and our Creative Agents, supported by the West Kent Mind community wellbeing team.

The programme leverages creativity to support mental health and wellbeing.

We are seeking an Independent Evaluator to assess the effectiveness of the Creative Minds Programme, a three-year initiative supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Following a successful first year, the evaluator will use various methodologies to evaluate:

Effectiveness and how well the programme met its objectives and outcomes to include but not limited to:

• Impact: Short- and long-term effects on clients' mental health and well-being.
• Accessibility and Inclusivity: Measures taken to ensure activities are accessible to all.
• Collaborators: Engagement levels among staff, volunteers, artists, clients, and partners.
• Public Outcomes: Community engagement with programme results.
• Challenges and Lessons Learned: Identification of challenges and strategies used, with insights for future projects.

Methodology will include a mixed approach using surveys, interviews, observations, case studies, and data analysis, including metrics from the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS).

Deliverables:

• Evaluation plan with data collection tools.
• Interim report (May 2025) with preliminary findings and adjustments.
• Final report (March 2026) detailing programme impact, challenges, and recommendations.
• Presentation of findings to the National Lottery Community Fund.

Who you are

All previous experience may be paid or voluntary, full or part-time, in the UK or overseas.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate the following:

· Proven experience in evaluating arts and health programmes or similar community-based initiatives.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of creativity, the arts, and mental health, either independently or in collaboration.

· Ability to conduct an inclusive evaluation process, working effectively with a diverse range of adults.

· Awareness of safeguarding practices.

Terms and Conditions

Freelance Fee: An inclusive fee of £8000 (inc. VAT). The fee is inclusive of all expenses related to the successful candidate’s time, travel, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Hours: The freelancer will allocate the time required to complete and fulfil this agreement. Visits to the programme to be discussed and scheduled with West Kent Mind Wellbeing and Creative Arts Programme Lead. 

Location: The freelancer will work remotely. Scheduled visits within West Kent are required for in session visits.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time (minimum 28 hours a week) will be considered. When applying, please state what hours you are looking to work. Salary: Starting at £23,928 with potential annual step increases up to £26,930 (pro rata if working part-time), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, the trustees consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April.

Location: Remote or from Rainbow Migration’s offices which are based in London between Vauxhall and the Oval. Hybrid working will also be considered. ‘I AM Brent’ consortium

Step Up Hub leads a consortium, known as I AM Brent, that consists of six well-respected local charities who are working together to address the root causes and effects of violence affecting young people in the London Borough of Brent.

Programme Description

The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. The consortium is providing an array of positive opportunities for young people and support for families, including through tailored interventions. The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The work is focused on the Church Road Estate, Stonebridge Estate, St Raphael’s Estate, Chalkhill Estate and Harlesden Town Centre areas.

The Role of the Network and Communications Lead

The Network and Communications Lead will be a key member of the team delivering the I AM Brent MyEnds programme. They will lead on liaison with voluntary sector providers and statutory service providers, including Brent Council, the police and schools, and on strengthening networks between them to help young people stay safe. They will be responsible for implementing I AM Brent’s communication strategy. They will subscribe to the values of co-production and work positively in accordance with I AM Brent’s Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Data Protection and Health and Safety policies.

In addition, the Network and Communications Lead will:

· act as the primary contact for voluntary and statutory providers,

· improve the referral process through strengthening networks, and by producing effective communication,

· encourage organisations to apply to I AM Brent’s community fund and to take up the capacity building support offered          to applicants,

· write information about I AM Brent services and events, encouraging engagement,

· be responsible for ensuring I AM Brent’s website content remains relevant,

· create interactive social media content and materials for publicity campaigns,

· write press releases and news articles on key developments,

· support the production of short educational and marketing videos,

· report on progress against deliverables,

· represent I AM Brent and Step Up Hub at meetings, forums, roundtable discussions and related events,

· help recruit and line manage volunteers.

The Network and Communications Lead will be supported by the I AM Brent MyEnds Programme Manager, Step Up Hub senior leadership team and consortium members, and will work closely with I AM Brent’s Community Engagement Lead.

Salary: £24,303 (£40,505 pro-rated)

The Partnerships Coordinator will work closely with the Partnerships & Communications Lead and share some responsibilities. You duties will include: 

• Grant Writing: Write compelling grant applications, funding proposals, and update reports to secure funding from various sources, including trusts, liveries, and corporate foundations.

• Research: Identify and research a pipeline of realistic funding opportunities. 

• Donor Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing donors and prospects, ensuring their continued support and engagement with EFA's work.

• Fundraising Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of EFA's fundraising strategy. Support on diversifying our income streams, focusing on other areas of fundraising such as statutory, corporate giving, individual giving, membership, and events. 

• Collaboration: Liaise closely with the Partnerships and Communications Lead, Hub Leads and Project Managers to plan and develop strong funding proposals that align with EFA's strategic objectives. 

• Database Management: Maintain accurate records of donors, grants, and funding opportunities on Donorfy. Communicate effectively with the finance team.

• Monitoring and Evaluation: Help to monitor and evaluate the outputs and outcomes of our projects, and maintain accurate records of grant conditions.

About EFA

English for Action provides free, participatory, and empowering English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)  classes for migrants in London. Our classes are spaces to build community and support students to organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. Our work currently supports around 400 adult migrants across London. We’ve become a national centre of good practice for a radical participatory approach to ESOL, informed by the work of Paulo Freire, and we share this approach through training, research and partnerships. 

Organisation: We are a staff team of 8 people supported by a larger team of volunteers and 9 trustees. EFA promotes shared leadership and collaboration and we aim for our organisational structure to reflect this. In the last 4 years we’ve transitioned away from having a CEO to an executive team to oversee operations and decision-making. As a charity, ultimate responsibility for, and control of, the organisation lies with the Board of Trustees. 

Fundraising at EFA: We have one permanent fundraiser at EFA, who works two days per week on this area of work. The majority of EFA’s funding comes from charitable trusts and foundations but we are also funded directly by some of our partner institutions to provide courses for their members. We receive some local authority/EU funding as well. We raise additional funds through individual giving, corporate relationships and earned income. We are keen to explore new areas of fundraising and/or develop some of our less well established income streams.

Make a difference for children now and for their future

We’re looking for someone to work with schools across Lewisham to improve the education and health potential of Young Carers. You’ll work alongside our wider team supporting Unpaid Carers across the borough.

You’ll develop relationships with schools and school staff, raising awareness and supporting the identification of Young Carers within education settings, and supporting the development of policy, guidance and resources. You’ll work one-to-one and with groups of Young Carers, and carry out home-based visits to offer support interventions.  

As a Young Carers Schools Coordinator, you will also support the planning and delivery of the service’s activity package, including respite activities, online groups and face-to-face sessions.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with children, young people, and families in social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Young Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. You should be confident engaging with young people and teaching and non-teaching school professionals at all levels.
