We’re looking for an experienced Communications and Marketing Manager with a strong background in strategic communications, ideally with sector knowledge, who can spread the word about our incredible work to support people and places, and grow the movement for a more collaborative, equitable society where we all are supported to flourish.
This role will manage our external communications and marketing content. It will be supported by and report to a Director, while collaborating closely with both the operations and practice team. This role will be ‘top to bottom’, considering and developing our communications strategy, and putting strategy into action by creating marketing materials, optimising our website content, and driving engagement on social media to effectively share our content externally.
About your experience and skills
You will be a versatile and persuasive communicator, particularly in writing, who can adapt their approach to suit people from different sectors and with levels of seniority.
You will be a creative and practical thinker, capable of developing and delivering annual plans for our communications as well as adapting quickly to new opportunities .
You’ll thrive in a collaborative team environment, working closely with project team members to develop content, and help them increase their communications and marketing skills.
Strong organisational abilities are key, as you'll juggle multiple tasks across different timelines. You should also be comfortable with a variety of digital tools and quick to adapt to new platforms.
Finally, you’re passionate about improving public outcomes, curious about social change, and likely have experience—whether personal, professional, or voluntary—of working toward that goal.

About the package and benefits
- Salary range: £35,000 - £42,000 (pro-rata)
- Location: We’re a national organisation with an office in London. All of our team work in a hybrid way, which varies depending on role and location. This role requires at least 1 day per week/fortnight in the office during the induction period. Beyond that, you are required to come to London at least once every 6 weeks.
- Working hours: preference is 22.5 hours per week, open to exploring flexible working requests that match organisational needs with personal needs/preferences

Support new investments (in our Venture and Social Lending portfolio)

Support Venture and Social Lending deal teams and potential investees in applying BSC’s impact approach during DD and decision making, with a particular focus on rolling out BSC’s revised “Impact Canvas” (our de-facto impact term sheet that captures the investment’s impact thesis and measurement plan).
Implement and enhance BSC’s impact management approach (with focus on Venture and Social Lending).

Support the investment team in preparing, conducting, and learning from our “impact-focused”, annual meetings (“Annual Impact Conversations”) with fund managers during which we review our investments’ impact performance against thesis and fund managers’ impact practice.

Support the impact team in further developing and implementing BSC’s new impact scoring approach.

Work closely with our Venture and Social Lending investment team to assess the actual impact performance of our investment portfolio, drawing out and presenting insights and learnings at our Annual Impact Performance Committee meeting in June.

We are delighted to be supporting a national health focused charity to find a part time, temporary Helpline Support Services Volunteer Officer. This role is for 6 months for 21 hours per week and offers hybrid working with only one day per month in their London Office.
You will support with the recruitment, training and development of Helpline Volunteers and Befriending Volunteers. Supporting volunteers in carrying out their roles effectively in providing emotional support, information, and befriending support to people affected by MS.
You will provide support and guidance to volunteers within the Helpline services team including recruitment and training. You will also provide continuous service referral management for national befriending service and provide continuous support to Befriending Volunteers.
You will also support the Helpline Services Volunteer Manager with embedding new volunteer projects into the Helpline and answer enquiries through a range of channels giving up to date, quality, trusted information and emotional support.
The role will require you to contribute to Helpline services out of hours cover between 5-7pm on a weekly basis including supporting volunteers and staff on evening shifts and support with managing safeguarding enquiries as part of the Safeguarding Responder Group including filling in relevant forms and providing relevant. You will also coordinate volunteer recognition events at regular intervals that increase engagement and development.

- Experience of working strategically to source, secure and steward sustainable funding (grant income and individual giving) working within tight financial constraints.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and processes, safety, and quality management.
- Comfortable with digital/remote working e.g. use of One Drive, Slack, Zoom.

Young Marketeers is also a platform for School Food Matters to promote food education to schools and communities as a way to support children to live happy and healthy lives. Children learn the art of growing veg from seed, and market traders will share their secrets on how to create a winning market stall. Primary schools will be visited by our gardener in March/April and then again in May/June and receive further tips on how to ensure a bumper crop. And in July, they head to the market to sell their produce, and to meet the mayor!
