About us
Who we are
Architecture charity AzuKo is working to end housing poverty in Bangladesh and the UK.
Everyone deserves a safe, clean, dignified place to call home. Yet more than 1.6 billion are living in substandard housing and it’s estimated that this will increase to 3 billion by 2030 – over 40% of the world’s population. Housing is more than a roof and four walls; it is a human right.
AzuKo works with vulnerable communities – the homeless, landless, those in extreme poverty – to improve living conditions. The charity offers low-cost, low-tech building improvements that make a dramatic difference to people’s lives. Most importantly it is the communities themselves that lead the design and construction, from start to finish.
