About the role

We are seeking a Branch Development Manager to develop the support provided for Headway volunteer-led branches across the UK including with volunteering, policies and processes and best practice to ensure a high-quality service for acquired brain injury survivors.

You will drive innovation to deliver sustainable volunteering opportunities that contribute towards the ongoing success of the Headway network, ensuring acquired brain injury survivors can access the support they need within their own communities.

About you

We’re looking for someone with experience of volunteer engagement and development.

You will ideally have:

• A good understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing community-based voluntary organisations at a UK-wide level
• Outstanding organisational and project management skills, able to operate at a strategic level
• Experience of building relationships and partnership working within the third sector
• Knowledge of the legal, financial and governance framework within which third sector organisations operate
• A passion for supporting brain injury survivors, carers and families and the charities that support them

Headway is the UK-wide leading charity working to improve life after brain injury. We are passionate about helping people to rebuild their lives, relearn lost skills and regain independence.

The Role

We are looking for a Deputy Cinema Manager to join the existing team at the Chelsea&Westminster Hospital in London, working closely with CW+, the official charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The roleholder will also be required to provide cover to our other London-based MediCinemas at Guys and St Thomas’s Hospitals.

The post-holder will work with the Cinema Manager and the team of nurses and volunteers who support our MediCinema, and will work closely with them, the hospital, and with central office operations team to prepare for and run successful film screenings each week.

We run 4 regular inpatient screenings each week which includes evenings and weekends. The roleholder will be required to work on a shift pattern to include weekends and evenings each week. There will also be a programme of additional Tailored and Personal screenings on top of these regular inpatient screenings. 

The role offers a unique, exciting and extremely rewarding opportunity for someone interested in a service delivery role at the heart of our charity, involving direct contact with the patients and families we support.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Service Delivery

• Support the Cinema Manager in delivering a programme of screenings each week as agreed according to the operating procedures of a MediCinema, including running and managing screenings on your own. Most screenings are held in the evenings and at weekends so the role requires regular evening and Saturday working.

• On screening days be responsible for:

o Marketing the service through the hospital’s wards, organising collecting and returning patients, and for safety and care in the cinema itself.

o Taking responsibility for health and safety of patients coming to the cinema, and the safety and appearance of the cinema space itself.

o Preparing and operating the digital projection equipment for the screening, ensuring that films are screened to the highest technical standards at all times. Training and ongoing technical support will be provided for this.

o Ensuring that all operational, welfare and safeguarding policies set out by MediCinema are followed accordingly and that, where appropriate, consent forms are obtained for photographic or filmed records.

o Ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with relevant health and safety legislation, and that areas where MediCinema might be in breach of such are dealt with immediately or brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for rectification.

o Keeping accurate monitoring and operational records, including contacts and database updating as required

• Help the Cinema Manager collate, analyse and report back on agreed metrics and KPI’s

• Assist with arranging and running any special events and special screenings

• When required, arrange and run additional personal screenings for patients unable to attend regular screenings, plus special tailored screenings with particular hospital departments and patient groups.

• Support the development and roll out of any new type of screenings we embark on.

• Support the delivery of our complementary bedside services, such as our Disney ‘Moments that Matter’ work.

Nurse & Volunteer Management

• Help the Cinema Manager build, manage and support the team of nurses and volunteers to assist in the duties outlined above and to ensure that screenings run safely and smoothly – this will include assisting with recruitment and creating monthly rotas.

Marketing and Relationship Management

• Be proactive in marketing the service within the hospital, building key relationships with hospital staff and members of CW+.

• Help develop and manage effective partnerships throughout the hospital and community

• Representing the organisation effectively and compellingly at all times.

• Support the programming and development of the MediCinema as a centre for entertainment, being pro-active in developing a creative programme of sustainable events at each site. This could include fundraising events, live performance and other relevant activities.

Administration and other duties 

• Deputise for the Cinema Manager as and when required.

• Provide holiday or emergency screening cover when required.

• Help manage the collection, loading and returning of films.

• Champion the work of MediCinema within the hospital and cinema environment, as well as confidently and positively representing MediCinema in all interactions and at any meetings and events.

• Contribute to the strategic development of the Chelsea&Westminster MediCinema, operations and MediCinema as a wider organisation

• Communicate effectively with all team members, ensuring an inclusive and whole organisation approach

About Love Barton 

Love Barton is a faith based charity established in 2022 to tackle systemic issues that keep people and families in poverty and to release them to flourish in all areas of life, focused on the Barton estate on the outskirts of Oxford. 

The charity originally grew from Barton Community Church and continues to operate in close partnership with this Church. 

About the Role

The focus of the role is to lead Love Barton during the Charity Manager’s maternity leave, managing the existing projects detailed below, as well as working with the Trustees on fundraising. 

Projects

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you. 

Your job would be to:

• Recruit, train and support volunteers

• Manage these projects to ensure they run smoothly and safely

Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton 

• Work with the trustees to identify funding streams to sustain the role and projects

• Lead all recruitment, training and management of volunteers including ensuring safeguarding training and DBS certificates are up to date 

• Line-manage any sessional staff

• Manage the budgets for each project, evaluating outcomes and supporting the reporting to funders and trustees 

• Meet regularly with the BCC leadership team to ensure a close partnership 

• Attend regular supervision and commit to personal development

Safeguarding Culture

• Embed a safeguarding culture where it is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk and safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do

• Lead on the development and implementation of The Diana Award’s Safeguarding Strategy and Framework

• Take responsibility and oversee The Diana Award’s newly formed external safeguarding Commitee, in line with the group’s terms of reference. Working with them, and internal stakeholders to ensure best practice across the organisations.  

  Case Management:

  • Take the day-to-day lead on managing and actioning anything which constitutes a safeguarding concern in line with our Safeguarding Policy; this includes making referrals to and liaising with The Diana Award's Safeguarding Committee, statutory organisations and other agencies/organisations as appropriate

• Provide specialist advice and support to staff and volunteers across the organisation in all aspects of safeguarding, ensuring best practice and accountability. Attend events and training as the Designated Safeguarding Lead where required

Safeguarding by Design

• Review and update The Diana Award’s Safeguarding policies and procedures, creating new procedures as required and ensure wider policies have considered safeguarding requirements

• Work with teams across the organisation to ensure a ‘safeguarding by design’ approach to all programme design, implementation and partner/stakeholder relationships

• Develop, implement and deliver a robust training programme that equips staff and volunteers with effective tools to safeguard services users and themselves

PERSON SPECIFICATION  

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

About the Safeguarding Support Officer Role: 

We are are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Support Officer to join the team working on safeguarding, welfare and vetting cases as part of the delivery of Safe Scouting across the UK. The post is based at Gilwell Park, London and is to cover the maternity leave of the current officer. The first 2 weeks of induction would take place in the office each day to learn the systems then the expectation is to be present in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week, alongside homeworking.

Key responsibilities as our Safeguarding Support Officer:

• Provide significant administrative support to the Safeguarding and Vetting team.
• Respond positively and effectively to routine queries received by the Safeguarding and Vetting team [by phone, letter or email].
• Ensure that the Safeguarding and Vetting Officers are supported in the management of their casework i.e. updating case files, liaising with appropriate staff, volunteers and statutory agencies.
• Responsibility for first incident calls referring to the Duty Officers as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain a Safeguarding and Vetting casework database and records system ensuring cases are tracked for the Safeguarding Officer to ensure that they are able to manage their caseload in a timely manner.
• Undertaking research, training and collating of statistical information for management reports as required.
• Planning and preparation for meetings, diary management collation of papers and agendas
• Provide support and guidance to Association and their volunteers regarding criminal convictions and the rehabilitation of offenders act. Establish and maintain a vetting casework database and records.

The role of Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor is;

• To manage allegations of abuse and provide support as appropriate
• To support Victims and survivors of abuse
• Progress cases to their full conclusion within the time frame stipulated by the Head of Safeguarding
• Support the triage of incoming safeguarding cases 
• Collate information regarding disclosures of abuse, allegations or concerns 
• Complete comprehensive risk assessment on individuals who pose a risk in the church context
• Prepare comprehensive safety plans for individuals who pose a risk in the church context
• Keep all case files up to date by accurately and consistently recording actions taken on cases using the Diocese case management system
• To actively liaise with relevant agencies, for example, the police and probation services, and local authorities
• To ensure known offenders within (or returning to) the church community are appropriately managed and supported by the church
• Contribute to the work of the governance structure in relation to safeguarding including attending and chairing meetings

The successful candidate must be;

A Qualified Social Worker or have equivalent experience through working in Safeguarding, eg in a health, police, local authority or probation setting. There is flexibility in background, and we ask applicants to fully expand on this in their application when addressing their suitability for the role.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of front line child protection intervention and/or risk assessment of adult perpetrators, and application of risk assessment.

The package includes a competitive salary, flexi-time scheme, an 8% non-contributory pension with an additional 5% matched contributions, hybrid working (50%), and 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).

Recruiting a vibrant youth worker with an understanding of social care and children's services to lead our team of mentors to be the positive change in young people's lives. Meticulous and thorough in their written ability we are looking for someone to also be the main Safeguarding Lead to ensure that all our practice is keeping young people safe, as well as working with MASH, exploitation team, police and youth justice teams to ensure that a truly mulitageny approach is given towards safeguarding our young people. 

The role will involve:

· Organise the referrals that come to Urban Heard from CCN and other agencies.

· Ensure that we have an appropriate number of trained mentors and take care in assigning appropriate mentors with young people who are most likely to thrive with them.

· Manage the Joy App for Urban Heard ensuring that the updates are kept thoroughly and accurately.

· Ensure that the mentoring handbook is kept up to date and appropriate.

· Ensure that supervisions and debriefs occur with mentors and undergo some form of quality checks to ensure consistency across all sessions.

· Manage mentors to ensure that they are delivering their sessions on time and effectively, reporting back efficiently.

· Hold a small case load of mentees that will need more experience to support.

· Attend or support colleagues to attend relevant stakeholder meetings regarding the young people to do with Child Protection Conferences, Child in Need meetings, Strategy meetings, Risk Management Meetings, school meetings and any other meeting where safeguarding is discussed about a young person we are supporting.

· Be an advocate for the young person with external stakeholders and ensure they have their say and feel that they have someone who is there for them.

· Report back to CCN with required feedback and reports and report back to the Projects Manager and CEO when needed.

· Ensure that all staff have safeguarding training, trauma informed practice training and motivational interviewing training as well as any others that you feel is needed.

· Support when possible on other projects and general youth centre activities.

Working alongside two other Advice and Support Managers, this role will share responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of Independent Age’s new Advice and Support Service, and lead on Evaluation and Impact. The service is delivered by telephone, email and webchat and involved a duty service, appointments and casework, targeted at older people in or facing financial hardship. We give information, advice and support to a specialist level, relating to Welfare Benefits, Social Care, Housing and other issues.

As Evaluation and Impact lead, you will be responsible for data collection and reporting, outcome and impact measurement, case studies and providing evidence to our Policy and Influencing colleagues. 

You should have experience of managing a high-volume telephone-based information or advice service and strong leadership skills to create a work environment where people can thrive. You will have experience of working within an advice context (ideally AQS accredited) and knowledge of the main issues affecting older people.
