About us

Who we are

Dandelion Time is a nature-based charity that gives early support to children who’ve suffered from traumatic experiences such as domestic abuse and neglect. We help them overcome their emotional and behavioural issues to build self-esteem and confidence, and cope better at home, at school and in life.

Health, education and social care services face huge financial pressures and aren’t always the right solution for children with such issues: Dandelion Time fills this gap, with the potential to save services over £1m for every 100 children.* Our families take part in a ten-week programme of nature and craft activities, with one-to-one support from skilled therapeutic staff.

We are a catalyst to bring about change for each child so that they can become resilient and thrive despite the toughest of conditions, just like a dandelion.

Our culture and values

Dandelion Time’s purpose is to support children to overcome complex emotional difficulties, develop in resilience and confidence, and build closer relationships with those around them so that they can progress socially and educationally.

We believe children should grow up in a safe and nurturing environment, to feel loved and free of fear

Our vision is to be a beacon in the provision of nature-based therapeutic approaches for vulnerable children and families

Our therapeutic approach has been built on the healing power of nature and we understand clearly our responsibility to protect and restore the natural environment. The core of our work helps to reconnect children and families with the natural world, creating more appreciation, understanding and respect. We are continually working to help create a more sustainable world for children to thrive in.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Dandelion Time is committed to developing a team that reflects the diversity of the families we work with.  We welcome applications from all sectors of the community.

Dandelion Time is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  Safer recruitment practices will be followed, and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.

Successful candidates will be offered the role on a conditional basis subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS checks and background verifications.
