Who we are
Equal People mencap support vulnerable adults and children across Central and West London to:
- access, participate in, contribute to and influence their and the wider local community
- live independently pursuing their own aims and dreams
- to be in control of the decisions about their lives and their support
Staff and volnteers are supported and expected to have person-centred ethos and values, treating all with dignity and respect and enabling everyone we support to express themselves, full participate in community life and work towards their personal aims.
Our culture and values
Equal people mencap strive to be a user-led organisation in all that we do. Our staff, tutors and volunteers have a person-centred, inclusive approach working to ensure each individual is in control of the who, when, where, how of their support or the design of the activity and is supported towards achieving their personal aims and dreams.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Our name, 'Equal People' was chosen by our members. We will challenge and investigate any discrimination or harassment in line with our policies and procedures. All staff receive a full induction, regular training supervision and appraisals alongside team meetings. Policies and procedures are shared with staff for development before the annual updates.
We strive to be open, approachable ; we encourage a team based and teamwork approach - working together to an agreed to plan. We encourage ideas and initiative. We are listening and learning from each other every day.
