About the role
A unique opportunity to design and deliver a range of research and influencing activities on public health and prevention in support of the Improving Health and Reducing Inequalities Strategic Priority. The post holder will provide expert advice to positions on prevention across the Foundation’s work.
You will build a strong external profile through the delivery of respected reports and analysis, and through engaging in a range of external influencing opportunities on a wide breadth of prevention topics. This includes work across local, regional and national government, as well as in the NHS and wider health and public health landscape.
· Using a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods, take overall leadership for a range of policy projects including scoping, planning and analysis
· Keep abreast of relevant research and developments in public health and prevention and apply critical thinking on the implications for health and inequalities.
· Actively scan external and international developments in public health policy and practice to enable the Health Foundation to remain abreast of emerging trends
· Develop Health Foundation policy positions on public health and prevention
· Provide public health professional expertise to shape wider work across the Foundation, including on NHS policy, innovation and improvement, and data and research.
· Supervise public health registrars and provide professional advice to multi-disciplinary colleagues from across the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities
The role will include a mixture of fast-paced and impactful response-mode funding, and working closely with applicants to shape large-scale strategic research initiatives. Each role will be responsible for a different area of our research portfolio, as follows:
- Role 1: Delivering discovery and translational research funding, including a national large-scale programmatic research funding scheme.
- Role 2: Delivering clinical research funding, including a new national paediatric cancer clinical trial funding scheme. Specific expertise in clinical trial funding is desirable for this role.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence across England and Wales. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding out what works and working for change.
Key Responsibilities
Your role is to ensure YEF’s funding is directed toward the most crucial gaps in evidence – those that, if filled, will lead to meaningful change for young people. You will oversee the selection of the most promising, evaluable interventions to test in England and Wales, ensure trials are set up successfully, and work with our Evaluation team to deliver high-quality impact evaluations.
More specifically, you will:
Provide team and organisational leadership
• Provide inspirational leadership to the Programmes Team of ten people, ensuring they are best-in-class at supporting delivery organisations to engage in robust evaluation.
• Oversee the Programmes team, including direct line management of four Programme & Impact Leads.
• Ensure the expertise within the Programmes Team is embedded in YEF’s wider work, drawing on the team’s experience of working with delivery organisations to help shape policy and practice recommendations.
• Represent YEF externally, ensuring our funding programmes are well understood and aligned with our sectors’ needs.
• Directly contribute to annual and multi-year planning as part of YEF’s operational planning cycle.
• Be responsible for tracking and reporting progress against our key organisational performance metrics.
• Help build and model a culture where it is natural to perform well, and colleagues support one another to do so.
Hold strategic oversight of new evaluation commissioning
• Work with the Assistant Director of Evaluation to shape and implement YEF’s strategy for programme and evaluation commissioning.
• Oversee the team in identifying and developing proposals for new trials within our main sectors.
• Assess the feasibility and strategic value of evaluation proposals, making stop/go decisions on their progression.
• Ensure the Programmes Team effectively supports grantees to work with evaluators to co-design interventions and develop clear, robust plans for trial setup and delivery.
• Oversee the development of high-quality proposals for new trials, assuring quality and presenting clear recommendations for our Grants and Evaluation Committee.
Be responsible for the ongoing oversight of the full portfolio of evaluations
• Lead and be accountable for delivering on YEF’s Race Equity commitments within our funding decisions and grant delivery.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for a portfolio of c.50 live trials, maintaining oversight of progress across our portfolio of live trials and intervening early when we spot risks.
• Oversee the financial management of the team’s project portfolio across c.50 live trials, ensuring effective budget oversight, approving grant payments, and maintaining financial accountability.
• Provide direct advice and guidance to the Programmes Team on the setup and delivery of our most complex trials.
• Ensure the rapid mobilisation of new trials following approval.
Build meaningful partnerships and strengthen the organisation’s influence
• Be responsible for partnership opportunities with central Government—holding key relationships, assessing the strategic value of co-funded evaluation projects, and overseeing Heads of Evaluation to negotiate new partnerships terms.
• Steward strategic relationships with other key stakeholders, including other research and policy organisations, funders, and delivery organisations that will help us influence change.
• Represent the Fund on boards, committees and events, including providing up-to-date information to external audiences on YEF-funded activity, and sitting on the board of external organisations linked to YEF’s work.
• Be proactive in identifying co-funding opportunities and ensuring fundraising targets are met for new and existing evaluations.

SafeDeposits is Scotland’s leading tenancy deposit protection scheme and dispute resolution provider. As a not-for-profit, SafeDeposits donates surpluses generated to its charity, the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust (“the Trust”). The Trust aims to improve standards in Scotland’s private rented sector by promoting education, training and best practice.
In addition to its grant-giving, the Trust is developing an ambitious research programme designed to inform future policy making and debate. This includes two new national representative surveys: “The Voice of the Tenant (Scotland)” and “The Voice of the Landlord (Scotland)”.
SafeDeposits and the Trust are part of the TDS [The Dispute Service Ltd] Group; a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee that operates equivalent deposit protection services across the UK and delivers a range of initiatives to raise standards in the private rented sector.
We have a new opportunity within our Policy, Research and Strategy team to join them as a Research and Programme Officer.
This is a full-time, permanent position ideally based within commuting distance of our Glasgow office. However, we are open to considering home-based candidates from other areas of Scotland, depending on their skills and experience.
The purpose of this role is to deliver and support the expansion of SafeDeposits research programme. The successful candidate will work on qualitative and quantitative research projects and ensure findings are disseminated effectively. Our priority is to recruit an individual with the requisite research skills and experience. Where required, appropriate training and support will be provided for the aspects of the role involving coordination of the grant-giving programme. The role offers a unique opportunity for a researcher to not only contribute to the evidence base, but to also work with TDS and SafeDeposits colleagues to commission evidence-based solutions for positive change.

The Sentencing Academy is a charitable incorporated organisation created in 2019 to promote more effective sentencing practices and to further professional and public understanding of sentencing across England and Wales. Our mission is to inform decision making and improve awareness and understanding of sentencing through evidence led research, working in collaboration with experts in the field.
We are looking for a Research and Policy Officer on an initial one year fixed-term contract. The primary responsibility for this role will be to create content for our forthcoming Sentencing Hub, which will draw together an array of resources on sentencing in England and Wales, including research summaries and data trends. The Sentencing Hub is currently in the early stages of development and will become a key research and statistical resource for those seeking the latest evidence on the effectiveness of the sentencing process. It will be of interest to sentencers, the Judicial College, the Sentencing Council, those involved in the policymaking process, Members of Parliament, journalists, and other stakeholders. We anticipate that the Hub will become the Sentencing Academy’s primary research and dissemination vehicle.
This role is a mostly remote working one but with regular meetings in London (approximately four times a month). Attendance at other locations may sometimes be required. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) but with flexibility to work reduced hours of no less than 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week). Occasional work outside of normal working hours may be required.

The Royal Foundation is seeking an exceptional Project Analyst to play a vital role in shaping and delivering high impact strategic initiatives across Homewards’ priority thematic areas: homes; funding and finance; employment; and data. ARC Blackburn (ARC), an established local charity, has recently been commissioned by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to deliver an asylum seeker integration programme for newly arrived asylum seekers in the borough. The purpose of the role is to work with new and existing partner organisations as well as existing staff, volunteers, and service users to deliver the programme.
This role requires an experienced individual who will encourage clients’ engagement in the community by welcoming, supporting, signposting, running social activities, connecting communities and supporting organisations, organising events and trips, and engaging with clients who require additional social engagement support. The Partnerships and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for measuring the impact and outcomes of all small activities and events using surveys, questionnaires and focus groups.
The other strand to the coordinator role will be to support local asylum seeker and refugee support hubs in the delivery of both formal and informal learning of English and Digital skills. Enabling access to these learning opportunities is vital to our clients’ resettlement and integration in the UK and local environment.
To be successful in the role, you will have relevant experience in community engagement and/or building partnerships in the charity sector. You will have proven experience in delivering activities and events that focus on community connection and co-creation, thus improving community integration and reducing social isolation. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and inspire diverse groups of people.
