Who we are
At Macmillan, we give people with cancer everything we’ve got.
If you’re diagnosed, we’re in your corner from day one and we will move mountains for you.
Because your worries are our worries. We’ll hold your hand through treatment. Help you pay the
fares to hospital and fight for fair treatment for you. If you can’t work, we’ll help you with the bills, if
you can’t sleep we’ll find someone you can talk to, if you need a voice we will speak out for you.
It’s never not our problem. If there’s a way to help we will find it and we will see it through.
And we never let anything stand still. We are a force for change, pioneering new and ever better
ways to support people with cancer. We’re on a mission to bring forward the day when everyone
with cancer gets life-transforming standards of care from diagnosis on.
We are making the future we want to see.
If you too are passionate about supporting people with cancer, we will make every penny you raise
count for something in someone’s life. We will cheer you on until we’re hoarse and shout your
achievements from the rooftops. Because you’re doing something amazing; helping people with
cancer live life as fully as they can. And they need everything you can give, because life with
cancer has never been so tough.
We won’t rest and we won’t settle for anything other than the best possible support for people with

Our culture and values
Together, we do whatever it takes for people living with cancer. And our Values are here to help us do just that.
Our Values guide our actions, our behaviours, the decisions we make, the way we work with others and how we deliver consistent, recognisable experiences to our customers.
They do not describe what we do but focus on how we do it – anchoring us all in a common understanding of what we expect of each other, and what everyone can expect of us.
With Strength
We are courageous. We are determined. We give it all we've got.
We put the needs of people living with cancer first, which takes real strength. We’re not expecting any one person to be unbreakable - we all have a part to play and together we are stronger.
It’s about being accountable for our actions and using our courage and determination to achieve the best possible result. This calls for everyone to speak up and sometimes make difficult decisions. We don’t do what’s easy. We do what will make the biggest difference.
With Heart
We are genuine. We are compassionate. We see the whole you.
We have big hearts at Macmillan, but this doesn’t make us soft. We want Macmillan to be a place where everyone can be their true self and feel that their voice is valued; never ignored or undermined.
We take the time to really listen and commit to an open and honest response, even when the answer isn’t what the other person wants to hear. We’ll always speak the truth, not with arrogance or cruelty, but with compassion and mutual respect.

We still share Douglas Macmillan’s ambition to ‘stand for betterness’.
