We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer that will be responsible for the operational management of the social enterprise, facilities, and Companion community at Emmaus Greenwich. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will ensure that all areas operate efficiently, meet compliance and safety standards, and support the overall mission of the charity.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Leadership
- Ensure smooth and efficient operations through strategic and effective operational management.
- Lead and support the Retail Manager, Property & Facilities Manager, and Community Manager in delivering their respective functions effectively.
- Work closely with the CEO, Board of Trustees, and leadership team to develop and implement the organisation’s long-term strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
2. Social Enterprise & Retail Operations
- Oversee the Retail Manager in managing charity shops and retail operations, ensuring financial growth and sustainability.
- Develop and implement business strategies to enhance sales, efficiency, and income generation.
- Identify new opportunities for business diversification and expansion within the social enterprise.
- Ensure compliance with retail regulations and best practices.
3. Facilities & Property Management
- Oversee the Property & Facilities Manager to ensure all Emmaus Greenwich properties are well maintained and meet health & safety, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Develop and oversee maintenance schedules, capital improvement plans, and risk management strategies.
- Ensure effective management of utilities, repairs, and external contractor relationships.
- Oversee security, fire safety, and infrastructure projects.
4. Companion Community & Wellbeing
- Oversee the Community Manager in ensuring a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for companions.
- Work with the team to develop individual progression plans, enabling companions to build skills and move towards independence.
- Ensure that companions are meaningfully engaged in charity operations and social enterprise activities.
- Implement safeguarding policies and best practices for supporting vulnerable individuals.
5. Financial & Budget Management
- Work with the CEO and Finance Manager to oversee budgets, financial planning, and cash flow management.
- Manage financial performance across the social enterprise, facilities, and community services.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue-generation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, charity governance, and reporting requirements.
6. People Management & Organisational Culture
- Lead and develop the Operations, Property & Facilities, and Community Managers, ensuring high levels of motivation and performance.
- Establish and oversee effective recruitment, training, and performance management processes.

East Sussex Transitional Housing is a low-support service, providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for 102 young people between the ages of 18-25 who have been, or are, at risk of homelessness. We have a small, supportive, and established team which manages 19 housing properties across, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings. We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures.
We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our East Sussex Transitional team. You will be based at the YMCA office in Eastbourne but will be visiting our seven properties around Eastbourne each week, meeting with residents in their homes and at the office - main areas of responsibilities are:
Housing
- You will hold a caseload of young people who are housed across our sites with the support of the team.Support provided is light touch, and a good knowledge of partner agencies is essential for relevant signposting
- Interview young people to assess their suitability for our housing
- Support young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules in preparation for independent living.Helping young people navigate shared living skills is key to this role and includes facilitating house meetings, rotas and cleaning sessions
- Support young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent and liaise with housing benefit
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing and welfare benefits for young people
- Complete Occupancy Sign up and induction with incoming residents
- Deal effectively with non-compliance issues, such as non-payment of rent, ASB or breaches of Health and Safety, using restorative practices
- Contribute to maintaining properties to a high standard including conducting health and safety checks
Support and Engagement
- Light touch support to residents, signposting to partner agencies as appropriate
- Support each resident to develop their own person-centred Support Plan with short- and long-term goals to work towards independent living skills and their next accommodation steps
- Arrange Review Meetings with young people at least once every 3 months to update and review risk assessments and support plans
- Check in with each resident at least once a week
- Encourage a culture of education, employment and engagement
- Ensure consistent standards of safeguarding and Trauma Informed Practice when supporting young people, observing our safeguarding procedures, and keeping yourself and residents safe by respecting professional boundaries
- Maintain client records on In-Form (client database) detailing the young person’s journey in relation to their strengths and needs, any risks, and any outcomes (to monitor service performance)

Hybrid Working – 3 Days onsite in Hemel Hempstead
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Housing Department for an experienced Housing Officer to join our dynamic team.
The role involves managing a geographical patch of properties and duties will include:
- Carrying out tenancy reviews and tenancy audits with residents in their homes

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording and management reporting of the Association's debt portfolio, ensuring that all interest and other fee payments are correctly paid on time.
What you will be doing:
- Support the Head of Treasury in arranging and renegotiating loans and capital market borrowings, providing all required information for loan applications and capital market issues.
- Maintain records of the Association’s portfolio of bank loans and capital borrowings, ensuring accurate and up to date records are correctly reflected in the treasury records and finance system.
- Manage all loan rollover notices and loan drawdown documentation ensuring that information is reported to the Head of Treasury in a timely manner to allow decisions to be made.
- Responsible for all loan trade and derivative confirmations including: on-boarding counterparties for new derivative transactions; maintaining database of all financial loans and products; providing confirmation of financial hedges to relevant counterparties; reporting of mark to market valuation of derivatives and trades.
- Process all treasury invoices and interest and fee payments for authorisation on time as due, ensuring they are correctly calculated to the treasury trade and in accordance with the loan agreements.
- Regularly monitor and forecast cash flow requirements. Retain a weekly overview of development financing activity and future funding requirements.
- Provide all treasury information necessary for completion of the returns to the Regulator of Social Housing eg Quarterly Finance Survey (QFS) and Future Financial Return (FFR).
- Ensure the delivery of lenders’ information requirements in compliance with loan agreements.

- Professional Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

An exciting opportunity exists for an Estates Compliance Lead to join the team. As Estates Compliance Lead/Administrator, you will be the lead point of contact for Estates administration and all Health and Safety activities, including creating and maintaining accurate and up to date H&S records. You will also be providing facilities management support across all parts of the organisation including lead on purchasing and stock management. This is a full time, permanent role, working primarily from the Crouch End Office with travel to other sites in London.
Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will have strong administration knowledge and experience, including working with complex procedures and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of buildings maintenance and managing the health, safety and welfare of staff and contractors working in a complex, multi-site environment. Two years’ experience of conducting internal Health and Safety audits and identifying potential hazards is essential for this role as well as two years’ experience of facilities administration. You will have an IOSH qualification and will be working towards NEBOSH or equivalent. The ability to manage contractor relations and undertake research and negotiations as part of a purchasing role is also essential for this role. You will be a self-motivated individual with personable approach to work and be flexible to work with colleagues in different sites.

About the role:
Our Haig team is looking for a passionate and proactive Fundraising Officer to help grow our income and build strong corporate and commercial partnerships. Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and Communications team, you’ll play a key role in securing support from trusts, grants, corporates, individuals, and legacy giving. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser ready to take on greater responsibility and drive new opportunities while nurturing existing donors.

You will:
- Act as the Trust’s Fundraising Officer, responsible to the Fundraising Manager and members of the Communications team.
- Be responsible for trust and foundation funding applications and other bids and proposals, liaising with other departments to ensure that relevant information is provided in support of bids.
- Be responsible for challenge events and in supporting those fundraising on behalf of the charity.
- Liaise internally and externally with colleagues and third parties in the pursuit of fundraising from corporate bodies, individuals (incl high net worth), the organising and execution of fundraising and other events, including logistics, risk assessments and overseeing volunteers, and in procuring branded and other marketing materials and resources.
- Assist in raising awareness of the Charity’s fundraising activities and events using social media, the website and printed materials, including their research and updating. To contribute to the charity’s printed newsletter for its beneficiaries, and other e-newsletters.
- Assist with the department’s legacy programme.
- Assist in monitoring of and the subsequent reporting to grant providers of funding received and the impact and benefit derived, including the production of beneficiary case histories.
- Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and the Communications team lead on establishing and running a new supporter/fundraising database, for which necessary training will be provided.
- Assist the Fundraising Manager with media and PR and in ensuring the maintenance of good external liaison with the media.
- Assist the Fundraising Manager in maintaining good external liaison with other Veterans charities, including the organisation and running of events that promote the charity, incl Armed Forces Day and Armistice Day.
- Oversee the charity’s Community Fund which supports its beneficiary communities, liaising with the Fundraising Manager.
To be successful, you should also have the following:
- A degree (or equivalent).
- Extensive computer literacy with experience in MS Office and digital marketing systems, together with excellent administrative, data protection, numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience in using MS SharePoint.
- Demonstrable experience in fundraising, including from trust and grant applications, corporates, legacies, events and individuals.
- Knowledge and experience of running challenge and other events.
- Marketing and communications experience including updating websites, using social media and in the production and editing of both electronic and printed publications.
- Knowledge of the charity sector and fundraising trends in particular.
- Knowledge of/experience in the British Armed Forces (or a willingness to learn).
- Demonstrable enthusiasm for fundraising and a keenness to develop and expand your knowledge and experience in this chosen career: a problem solver, able to work to tight deadlines.
- Evidence of a proactive, collaborative & agile mindset, able to build relationships, trust & credibility with colleagues and external partners and stakeholders.

Reporting to our Branch and Restricted Funds Manager and working closely with the Senior Branch & Restricted Funds Accountant, key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring that Branch Fund Initiative, Branch Property Trust and legacy accounts are properly administered and maintained and that all reconciliations are accurate
- Providing accounting support and advice to Branch Treasurers, ensuring that requests for assistance are addressed in a timely manner
- Joint management of queries coming into the Branch Accounts team and ensuring they are responded to by team members in good time
- Ensuring that legacy and property trusts are accurately accounted for and that relevant and accurate information is provided to the Senior Branch & Restricted Funds Accountant
- Preparing financial reports to assist the Senior Branch & Restricted Funds Accountant with internal and external stakeholders
You will be AAT qualified or part-qualified CCAB with experience working in a finance role in a complex organisation, dealing with a range of stakeholders. Experience working within a helpdesk style customer service and/or data environment would be beneficial.
You will be contracted to our London, Haig House Hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday) working in person at the Hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home for the remainder of the week.
