About the role

The UK Network of Age-friendly Communities has grown significantly over the past five years and now has a membership of over 85 places.  Part of a global movement of age-friendly cities and communities, affiliated to the World Health Organisation, our goal is to support this growing network, ensuring it remains a positive and thriving community of practice, and a place for good ideas to spread fast. 

You will be working with the Age-friendly Communities Manager to achieve this goal and to inspire, connect and support network members using a range of engaging methods including:

· Creating online and offline resources such as blogs, case studies, toolkits, etc

· The design and delivery of training, events, and workshops

· Facilitating connections, information flow and exchange between members

This is hands-on role will delivering key learning activities, managing your own workload, whilst also being responsive to support Network members. The role is pivotal to ensuring our support for the Network is high-quality and inclusive of a diverse range of experience and expertise, from within the Network and beyond.

Our Nursery team are looking for a Housekeeper to work 10am-2pm, Monday to Friday, to carry out day-to-day duties across the nursery, which is located on the first floor of the Coin Street neighbourhood centre in Stamford Street, London SE1. Key duties include washing, washing up, sanitising, carpet cleaning, and sweeping as appropriate.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a confident communicator for the permanent role of Communications Coordinator, within our Communications team. 

Reporting to the Senior PR Manager, the Communications Coordinator is a key member of the team, providing support across all the charity’s communications activity. 

The Communications Coordinator provides key support such as content research and creation, and assisting with PR campaigns, events and digital communications (social media and website). They also provide key administrative support for the Communications area, to help deliver reporting, tracking and compliance.

The individual will have the opportunity to gain experience across multiple communications, awareness raising and fundraising activities, helping to connect our supporters and new audiences with the refugee cause and UK for UNHCR’s work.

ROLE RESPONSIBLITIES  

The Communications Coordinator will support the planning and delivery of communications activity as required across all aspects of communications. This includes:

About the Role

The Information and Content Manager plays a crucial role within the Sarcoma UK team, leading this function within the organisation and bringing the ability, expertise and passion to achieve real impact for people affected by sarcoma. Access to high quality information is listed as the top priority for people affected by sarcoma, and therefore we place this work at the heart of our mission at Sarcoma UK.

The Information and Content Manager will be responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and promotion of a comprehensive range of high-quality print resources and digital content for sarcoma patients, their families/carers, healthcare professionals, and the general public. This includes creating new and innovative user-led content as well as reviewing, updating and redeveloping existing materials across various formats such as print publications, digital platforms, videos, and social media

Duties and Key Responsibilities 

1. Content development:

• Work with the Information and Content Officer to research, write, edit and produce new information materials including print publications, web pages, videos, infographics and social media content.
• Work in line with Sarcoma UK’s information production process, including:
  • Liaise with clinical experts and lived experience reviewers throughout the content development process
  • Maintain formal systems within the information production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark
• Ensure all new content meets clinical standards, brand guidelines, plain English principles, and accessibility requirements.
• Be an advocate for best practice in content design and user experience.

2. Content updates & maintenance: 

• Maintain a schedule of review and updates to existing print and digital information resources to ensure accuracy and alignment with the PIF quality mark.
• Manage a comprehensive database to track all information resources and versions, and proactively manage stock levels.

3. Content promotion & distribution:

• Work with colleagues to create promotional content for Sarcoma UK's information resources across multiple channels.
• Utilise social media platforms to extend reach and engagement with target audiences.
• Collaborate with communications and digital teams on content publishing and marketing.

4. Administration & reporting:

• Manage the information and content production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark
• Undertake an annual audit of the performance of our printed information and manage the PIF assessment process
• Monitor and report on the impact of print and digital content to inform continuous improvement
• Manage budgets for content production, ensuring efficient use of resources
• Set and monitor KPIs for information resources, ensuring progress against organisational goals

5. External relationships:

• Work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure expert input and review is integrated into the development of new information and content.
• Work with our involvement network to co-create content and ensure it reflects diverse lived experiences
• Collaborate with external organisations to partner on our information and extend our reach.

6. Innovation and Evaluation:

• Explore new areas for improving and developing digital and print content, including improving web accessibility, incorporating more patient stories, and making our content more visual.
• Explore new models to evaluate impact of our resources on patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals
• Explore and implement SEO strategies to improve the discoverability of digital content

7. Line Management:

• Provide line management, day-to-day supervision, and support the learning and development of the Information and Content Officer.

8. General:

• Gain and develop knowledge of sarcoma, keeping up to date with developments in the field
• Work collaboratively with teams across the organisation, developing effective working relationships and participating effectively in cross-organisational projects
• Attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.
• Travel occasionally to meetings and events. Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.
• Undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

The Job
The Technical Lead (SRM Capacity Strengthening) will bring extensive practical experience in NGO Security Risk Management (SRM) and training design and delivery to the GISF team.

This is a key role in disseminating knowledge generated through GISF’s network of more than 130 members. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the development and delivery of virtual and in-person trainings and workshops to enhance the SRM capacity of GISF Members and the wider NGO sector. These activities will range from addressing strategic topics for senior SRM leaders to promoting best practices in operational coordination.

Global travel will be required, up to 25% of the year. 

Drawing on your expertise, you will ensure GISF’s products and services remain relevant and impactful. This includes leading the creation and regular updating of technical guides and developing practical tools based on GISF research for our Members and NGOs worldwide.

You will work closely with GISF’s Technical Lead (SRM and Coordination), collaborating to meet the needs of Members and the NGO community.

Additionally, you will represent GISF externally, building relationships with regional NGO SRM coordination groups and attending events on GISF’s behalf.

Job Description

Research, Guides and Training

• Lead the development and delivery of trainings and workshops to strengthen Members’ and other NGOs’ SRM capacity, leveraging GISF’s technical guides, research, and projects.
• Responsible for the design and update of training material and contextualization based on the target audienc
• Identify innovative approaches to support Members in building SRM capacity.
• Collaborate with external organizations (e.g., Members, NGOs, service providers) to deliver dynamic workshops for GISF Members.
• Work with the Membership and Communications teams to engage NGO platforms at the country and regional levels, increasing awareness of available capacity-strengthening activities.
• Engage and manage consultants, as needed, to support training and workshop delivery.
• Develop new technical guides for NGOs based on GISF research and best practices, and regularly update existing guides to ensure they remain current.
• Support the Research team by reviewing and contributing to terms of reference, assessing researchers’ suitability, and ensuring outputs are practical and relevant.
• Monitor developments in NGO safety and security, identify key knowledge gaps, and coordinate with relevant teams to address them.
• Work with the Training and Travel Coordinator to maintain a long-term delivery plan for trainings and workshops, while remaining responsive to urgent requests for assistance.
• Support Members in coordinating and sharing best practices for internal training efforts.

Member & NGO Services

• May be required to travel at short notice to provide short-term SRM coordination support (up to 10 weeks) in coordination with NGO fora. Depending on access, this may need to be done remotely.
• Engage with country-level NGO coordination structures to assess and build their SRM coordination capacity.
• Contribute to GISF webinars and blogs by developing engaging and relevant content.
• Contribute to the development and analysis of member and NGO assessment tools.

External engagement, relationships, and frameworks

• Represent GISF in regional NGO SRM coordination bodies.
• Represent GISF at external events, including delivering presentations.
• Contribute to agenda development for events such as GISF’s Forums, Humanitarian Networks Partnership Week, and AidEx.
• Develop and deliver sessions at GISF Forums and other events.
• Identify opportunities for GISF to present at or convene workshops, side sessions, and meetings aligned with its policy and program objectives.
• Work with communications, fundraising, and advocacy teams to ensure effective external engagement and achieve impact.

Person Specification

Experience

• At least five years of demonstrated experience in NGO safety and security. 
  • Varied experience working across the humanitarian, development and human rights sectors. (Desirable)
• At least two years of NGO operational experience 
• Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering trainings to a range of audiences.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering technical guides, security policies, etc.
•  Experience participating in security coordination platforms.
• Demonstrable experience of project management, delivering to agreed outcomes, and monitoring and evaluating success.
• Experience in working collaboratively and inclusively with a wide range of colleagues and experts.
• Demonstrated experience working independently in difficult environments.

Skills and Knowledge

As Team Manager you will oversee the operational management and delivery of short break clubs delivered across a range of schemes across Surrey and West Sussex. You will line manage a team of dedicated frontline workers and will lead the assessment of behavioural support plans and complex need support in order to ensure safe and inclusive practices. You will ensure the meaningful participation of children and young people in the design, delivery, and evaluation of services, and will work closely with local partners to enhance the range, reach and quality of services for children and young people.
