About you
An experienced Financial Accountant who enjoys working in a small and collaborative team, has a pro-active approach and is a flexible team player who is happy to work with team members across the charity. The programme Manager (maternity cover) will play an important role in supporting the implementation of Good Neighbours UK (GNUK)’s strategy and ensuring that projects led by GNUK and implemented by field countries are managed effectively and efficiently. They will also play in important role in designing new projects.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Project management
• Support GNUK’s fundraising team to prepare funding proposals for UK and overseas projects.
o Undertake field/needs assessments for projects.
o Ensure programmes and finance teams in implementing partners are working together to develop budgets and logframes in a timely manner for funding proposals and advise on multi-project cost effective strategies to cover country budgets.
o Manage due diligence and MoUs with implementing partners
• Manage the implementation and monitoring of overseas projects ensuring project activity plans and risk registers are in place, monitor activity progress, review field country financial and narrative reports, and track key milestone information.
• Ensure compliance with internal finance, accounting, procurement policies and procedures.
• Support and build the capacity building of field country grants and programmes staff in all aspects of project cycle management.
• Liaise with external organisations (NGOs, community groups, researchers and consultants) to deliver GNUK’s projects.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditure.
• Prepare periodic narrative and financial reports for GNUK and donors.
• Undertake periodic field visits for purpose of monitoring projects.
• Ensure project exit plans are in place and closure of projects in keeping with donors contracts.
Programme development:
• Contribute to the development of GNUK’s mid to long term strategy, 3-year business plan and annual work plans.
• Participate in GNUK’s annual budget development process.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of GNUK’s programme activities.
• Keep up to date on external changes to the economic, social and political context in the UK that could impact GNUK’s work.
• Support the organisational risk management process.
• Support the rollout of GNUK’s marketing/communications strategy.
• Liaise with GPC on project implementation and programming requests
• Prepare periodic reports for GPC and donors.
Safeguarding
• Ensure the role of Safeguarding focal point for GNUK

Responsibilities
- Finance business partner to project teams and country offices, offering financial management support.

Person Specification

- Strong IT skills, including advanced MSExcel skills. Competence in SQL an advantage.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate financial matters to non-finance staff.
- Quick learner, organised and flexible, able to meet tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English, with excellent spoken and reporting writing skills. Working knowledge of French or Spanish is highly desirable. Knowledge of German is not essential or required.

Your new role
- Reporting to the Finance Manager
- Invoice and payment processing - managing the entire invoice payment process, including receipt authorisation, and weekly payment runs in the finance system (Iplicit). Handle grant transfers to partners, setting up payments in Bankline.
- Expense management - Oversee staff expense payments and manage credit card processes, including monthly reconciliations for NatWest cards. Administer prepaid card processes, including requests, top-ups and reconciliations.
- Reconciliation tasks - Reconcile supplier payments and direct debits to the ledger. Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled against the cash book. Post monthly bank interest, charges, and fees to the ledger.
- Journal preparation - Prepare and post routine and month-end journals, including depreciation, accruals and prepayments. Ensure automated journals are run and posted correctly.
- Financial reporting and compliance - Complete month-end reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation. Maintain fixed assets and contract registers. Assist in preparing annual accounts and documentation for auditors.
- Cash management - Manage petty cash and foreign currency floats. Update the charity's monthly cash holding position as part of treasury management.

My client is one of the UK’s leading homelessness charities, supporting tens of thousands of people a year. At present they are going through a back office transformation to ensure they are delivering a first class and efficient service in everything they do.
Part of this journey is the implementation of Business Central, and before the system beds into the finance function, there is a need to bring in an interim to map, manage and significantly improve the related processes.
The successful candidate will be an experienced accountant with previous experience of working with, and mapping Business Central. With an eye for detail and efficiencies you will be comfortable working outside of BAU and focusing on project work.
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to take a strategic leadership position, driving improvements in management reporting and supporting key financial processes during a critical period of change. You’ll lead the corporate management accounts team, overseeing business-as-usual deliverables while also developing and implementing a new reporting framework. With a focus on driving efficiencies and creating impactful insights, this role is perfect for a seasoned finance professional ready to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Reporting Development: Design and implement a comprehensive management reporting framework, utilizing tools like Power BI and finance system-based solutions. Develop a standard suite of centrally produced month-end reporting products to support budget performance monitoring. Review and refine the Chart of Accounts to better reflect income and expenditure at corporate reporting levels.
- Process Improvement: Lead a review of the month-end timetable, identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation. o Optimize the month-end ledger adjustment process to enhance efficiency and timeliness.
- Team Leadership: Manage and support the existing corporate management accounts team (five members) during the transitional period. Ensure the delivery of in-year management accounting outputs, providing guidance and oversight. Support the recruitment and onboarding of a permanent post-holder, ensuring a seamless handover.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced finance leader with a strong track record in management reporting and process optimization. Key attributes include:
- Expertise in management accounting and reporting frameworks within complex organizations.
- A proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Experience with financial systems, reporting tools (e.g., Power BI), and process automation.
