About us
Who we are
The Global Clubfoot Initiative (GCI) is an international coalition of member organisations working together so that all children born with clubfoot will get the treatment they need to walk, play and run free. GCI uses advocacy, education and collaboration to achieve greater impact by enabling action towards a world free of clubfoot disability. Clubfoot affects around 1/850 children born worldwide, 90% in low and middle income countries (LMIC). Clubfoot treatment transforms a child’s life from one of social exclusion, pain and loss of mobility, education and future opportunities to a life where they can run and play with their friends, wear normal shoes, go to school and look forward to a productive future. It is cost effective and can be done anywhere in the world. If not treated (and sadly, this applies to 80% of clubfoot worldwide), the condition leads to severe, lifelong disability.
Our RunFree2030 Global Strategy lays out how we and our members will scale up high quality, sustainable clubfoot treatment globally so that all children can walk, play and run free!
GCI is governed by a Board of eight Trustees; the secretariat is led by CEO Rosalind Owen, with a small staff team. We have 60+ member organisations working worldwide to support the provision of treatment for children with clubfoot.
