About us
Who we are
Our History
The FSRH was established in March 1993. The foundations of the FSRH date back to 1974, when approximately 1000 family planning clinics that were run by the Family Planning Association (FPA). were handed over to the National Health Service (NHS) to be managed by the Local Area Health Authority Public Health departments. This left no medical body to represent doctors working in this field that could facilitate sharing of good practice and the development of standards, guidelines and training.
About us
The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) is the leader in the field of sexual and reproductive healthcare, and we are the voice for professionals working in this area. As a multi-disciplinary professional membership organisation, we set clinical guidance and standards, provide training and lifelong education, and champion safe and effective sexual and reproductive healthcare across the life course for all.
We believe that access to SRH is a fundamental right. We work together with our members and partners to shape better sexual and reproductive healthcare for all.
Our vision is of high-quality sexual and reproductive health at every stage of our lives.
What we do
We offer evidence-based clinical guidance and standards; a range of qualifications and training in SRH alongside our BMJ SRH Journal; webinars and events. We also develop and manage the CSRH specialty programme which trains future SRH Consultants.
We provide an important voice for SRH clinicians, including doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and physician associates.
We influence policy, legislation and public opinion working with national and local governments, MPs, commissioners, policymakers, the media, patient groups and other decision-makers.
