We are looking for a dynamic and organised Volunteer & Community Lead to join our team. This role will focus on managing and growing our network of volunteers while also strengthening relationships with the community through outreach initiatives.You will play a key role in recruiting, supporting, and retaining volunteers for our hub and community programmes, as well as leading fundraising initiatives to engage schools, businesses, and individuals.
About Sebby’s Corner
Sebby's Corner is based in Barnet, EN5 and our aim is to ensure that no child goes without the basic essentials they need to thrive. We supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty. Families in need get referred to us by social workers, health visitors, family support workers, midwives and other professionals. We work with almost 800 different referral partners across 400 different organisations.
We also offer school uniform support and we have a Birthday Club that ensures that a child who would otherwise go without has a gift, cake, balloons and decorations to celebrate their special day. At Christmas, we host a Grotto where parents can come and choose a gift for their child at no cost. We have a new partnership with Citizen’s Advice Barnet that allows families to book an appointment with an advisor at our hub.
In addition to our baby bank services, we work to engage and inspire the community through fundraising, volunteering opportunities, and outreach programmes. At Sebby’s Corner, we believe that a connected community can make a lasting impact, and this role is pivotal to achieving that. Key Tasks and Accountabilities
Volunteer Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management of volunteers, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and their time is used productively.
- Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract new volunteers and new hub leaders including targeted campaigns and partnerships with local schools and community organisations.
- Create and maintain a volunteer database, tracking availability, skills, and engagement.
- Deliver volunteer induction sessions and ongoing training as needed.
- Build a welcoming and inclusive volunteer culture, ensuring volunteers feel valued and motivated.
Community Outreach
- Represent Sebby’s Corner by speaking at schools, community groups, and local businesses to promote our mission and encourage support.
- Develop and deliver outreach programmes to inspire community involvement, such as fundraising initiatives and challenge events.
- Act as a key contact for schools, organising donation drives and volunteer days.
- Recruit participants for fundraising activities such as marathons, walks, or bake sales.
- Send thank-you letters and certificates to fundraisers and donors, recognising their contributions.
Event Planning and Support
- Assist in planning and running Sebby’s Corner events, including seasonal fundraisers and awareness campaigns.
- Support the organisation and delivery of volunteer and community recognition events.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, community partnerships, and event outcomes.
- Develop reports and insights on volunteer and outreach activity to inform future strategy.
- Support the team with general administrative tasks related to volunteers and community outreach.
About your skills and experience

What we can offer
Salary and pension
The salary for this role is £28,500 annum FTE (this will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week and is subject to normal deductions). If eligible to join the pension, we will match your contributions by 5%.
Annual leave
You will be entitled to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (these will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week). We usually give the team time off between Christmas and New Year that doesn’t come off your allowance.

To raise voluntary income from a range of Grantmakers including Trusts, Foundations and local Government grant funders contributing to an overall team target of £1-million. Working effectively within the team unit and across the organisation you will meet individual targets through building excellent relationships with funders, leading to more young people reached by Eikon’s services.
Responsibilities:
Income generation
· Raise voluntary unrestricted and restricted income through submission of high-quality proposals (60% of time)
· Lead on developing the portfolio of funders, joining external networks, seeking out leads from internal staff/ trustees and developing intelligence on potential funders.
· Provide support as requested for significant strategic opportunities to support the Grants & Partnerships Lead.
· Develop an effective approach for raising unrestricting income.
· Work to agreed metrices including an annual target of £120,000-£150,000/year (exact target will be dependent on working hours agreed and level of experience), a set number of bids and reports submitted monthly, number of multi-year commitments and lifetime value of grants (to be agreed).
Target Audience:
Portfolio to include Surrey and Regional based funders including trusts, foundations and local government grant funders. Some of these will be existing, and some to be identified.
Account Management:
· Provide excellent account management to grant funders.
· Optimise funding potential and retention of funders through quality and timely reports, regular communication including meetings, and through building excellent relationships.
· Thinking creatively, working with colleagues organise own events/opportunities to increase engagement of funders e.g. project visit, garden open day
· Identify other funding opportunities through relationships, for example for Major Donors, Corporate partnerships and Individual Givers.

Internal Reporting:
· Manage accurate and up to date pipeline information on Donorfy, being able to pull reports for information and analysis including:
o Provision of data and narrative for monthly team meetings
o Contribution to Board reporting with narrative and pipeline information

Quality and standards:
· Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and deliver within Eikon’s safeguarding policies and practices when taking part in fundraising activities.
· Ensure all activities follow the relevant Fundraising Codes of Practice and Eikon’s Ethical Fundraising Policy.

Strategy and planning
• Deliver the existing Community and Events strategy and maximise opportunities for income growth

Fundraising events management
• Manage delivery of the event portfolio to achieve financial and sign-up targets, delivering effective on the-day support for event participants. This includes ensuring our events are accessible for visually impaired participants
• Deliver excellent supporter care to ensure supporters are motivated to achieve (and exceed) their fundraising targets, feel valued and build engagement with us
• Key point of contact for high level event participants and community fundraisers via face-to-face meetings, phone calls and emails – providing timely and personalised support
• Support the Events and Community Officer with enquiries, applications and registrations for challenge events, ensuring high levels of conversion, and capturing relevant supporter data
• Support the Head of Community and Engagement, or other teams within Fight for Sight with the successful delivery of key special events, including fundraising gala dinners or receptions, virtual events and mini conferences, and third party or established supporter events.
• When required, support the Events and Community Officer in managing guest lists, enquiries, and ticket sales for special/major donor events and receptions, delivering a seamless guest experience and timely follow-ups supporter care and relationship management
Marketing
• Oversee all paid Facebook advertising activity for events, updating web listings, and utilising our networks
• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to raise awareness/increase recruitment across all activities, highlighting case studies and media stories
• Develop and deliver effective and engaging content, and materials for supporters to increase recruitment, retention, and average fundraising amounts
• Oversee the creation and delivery of quarterly events e-newsletter, plus additional e-blasts
Managing information and reporting
• Work with the Database Manger to ensure accurate records within our CRM system (ThankQ) and management of income from online and offline giving

ROLE PURPOSE
The Community and Events Fundraising Manager will be a vital member of the Mass Fundraising team, responsible for leading activity across Community and Events. They will be instrumental in driving the Community and Events team to achieve our income targets and grow Community & Events from £400,000 to £550,000 over the next five years and by 29/30.
This role will focus on identifying and nurturing impactful fundraising relationships, providing exceptional stewardship and delivering a calendar of community and events fundraising. The ideal candidate will be able to implement effective income growth strategies, particularly in working with local companies and in memory fundraisers. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning & Delivery
- Develop and implement the community and events fundraising strategy in line with KPIs and budgets set out in the annual business plan and fundraising strategy.
