Major Giving at Friends of the Earth is looking for a new Trusts and Grants Manager, to set the strategic direction of the team and give dynamic and thoughtful leadership to the trusts and foundations portfolio.
The Trusts team is well-established and experienced, and this is great time to take the team forward and take ownership of a varied pipeline of funders. As the team manager, you will be responsible for:
- Setting the direction of the team and leading by example in exceptional account management
- Collaborating with teams across the organisation to bring our work to life for funders
- Communicating the importance of trusts and foundation funding to internal and external stakeholders
- Inspiring the team to seek out new opportunities and build meaningful long-term relationships
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Proven track record of securing and managing five and six-figure, multi-year grants and delivering first-class donor cultivation and stewardship
- Experience in leading strategy development and delivery
- Evidence of a dynamic and innovative approach to presenting a range of funding options and scenarios
- The ability to proactively build and manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to support strong bid and proposal development and reporting

The team:
The Major Giving team is made up of corporate partnerships, philanthropy and trusts and raises £6 million a year from our partners, funders and donors. It is part of the Income Generation directorate, which includes Individual Giving, Organisational Insight and Supporter Relations.
Working closely with all areas of the organisation, we match high-net-worth individuals, funders and partners to our projects and campaigns and motivate them to give significant gifts to Friends of the Earth.
The Major Giving team is ambitious, well-established, dynamic, and collaborative, with each income stream working closely on projects, events and proposals to ensure donors are stewarded in the most effective ways.

Hours: Full time (30 hours over 4 days)
Location: Flexible across England, Wales and Northern Ireland
Salary: Regional £42,528 - £44,568 per annum, or London £45,902 – £47,972 per annum (London salary applicable to candidates who are based in the London office a minimum of two days a week)

- help to develop new partnerships and relationships, and use the insights and evidence gained through the ‘Hub’ to craft advocacy recommendations, connecting with policy makers and other relevant stakeholders, to influence changes to policies and approaches around the protection of children.

Our mission is to supports adults, young people and children living with long-term neurological conditions and/or neuro diversities to access specialist therapies, support, and information in a safe, supportive environment to help them improve their physical and mental well-being.
The Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre, located in mid-Cornwall, is a Cornish charity providing a place of support, therapy, information, and community for people living with a long-term neurological condition and/or those who are neurodiverse. We give financial assistance to our beneficiaries in the form of subsidised specialist therapies. Our purpose built, fully accessible Centre, opened in 2009 and offers physiotherapy; exercise classes; Ayres’ Sensory Integration (ASI) therapy (a discipline of Occupational Therapy), and oxygen therapy. The Primrose Hydrotherapy Pool facility, which was built in the grounds, opened in 2019, providing both individual and group hydrotherapy sessions.
Living with a long-term health condition brings many challenges, not just for those diagnosed, but also for family members. Symptoms can affect physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychological health. For our clients who have sensory processing difficulties, due to being neurodivergent, everyday situations and relationships can be perplexing and taxing.
Our main aims are to improve the health and well-being of our community; help people manage their symptoms and situations; and support their main care giver, often a family member. Services are delivered by a highly experienced team, with a broad range of skills and experience in delivering specialist therapies.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven individual to join our team as the Business Development Officer with a commercial sales focus. This role requires a unique blend of fundraising expertise and commercial acumen to drive our vision forward.
Additionally, this role will focus on developing commercial sales strategies to generate revenue through partnerships, sponsorships, and product sales. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both fundraising and sales, with a proven track record of achieving targets and building lasting relationships.

About you

Identify, cultivate and manage corporate accounts. Working with the wider Income Generation team, ensure strong stewardship and fulfilment of marketing returns for each corporate account.

Deliver tours of the centre to supporters autonomously.

The Community Energy Adviser will deliver energy support sessions in local communities, empowering individuals and families through workshops and one-to-one support. The focus will be on assisting those facing challenges with their energy needs by providing practical advice, support, and advocacy on energy conservation, switching providers, and accessing grants or benefits.
Fixed term until March 2026, 35 hours per week.
The hours for this role will be varied over shift patterns from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and may also include some Saturdays.

In this role you will be:
- Planning and delivering engaging and informative energy support workshops within local communities, tailoring content to meet the diverse needs of attendees.
- Providing one-to-one support to individuals requiring more in-depth assistance, including conducting home energy assessments and offering tailored advice.
- Collaborating with local organisations and stakeholders to identify and reach out to communities and individuals who would benefit most from energy advice and support.
- Developing and distributing educational materials on energy saving, bill management, and the benefits of renewable energy sources.
- Tracking and evaluating the impact of community sessions and one-to-one interventions, adjusting strategies to improve outreach and support effectiveness.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of energy sector developments, including changes in legislation, available grants, and best practices in energy conservation.

About You
- You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written to be able to support communities and individuals who would benefit most from energy advice and support.
- You be able to plan and deliver engaging and informative energy support workshops within local communities, tailoring content to meet the diverse needs of attendees.
- Showing empathy and being able to respond positively to change while being able to deal effectively with conflicting priorities will allow to succeed within this role. The service will help customers through their unfair extra costs and additional vulnerability to fuel poverty.
- It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office Products and are confident user of digital technology demonstrating a positive approach to the adoption of innovative products and tools. You will be able to track and evaluate the impact of your community sessions and one-to-one interventions, adjusting strategies to improve outreach and support effectiveness.
- You will bring drive and enthusiasm to your role and can demonstrate that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people and their families. It is desirable that you have a good knowledge of Energy and Utilities advice. If you do not already have the qualification, you will be trained to a Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced team manager with expertise in community, corporate or relationship fundraising. This role will enable you to demonstrate your impact by both growing the overall income within your sub-region by managing and developing your amazing team of 4 Regional fundraisers, and also through leading by example on securing new sources of income where the opportunity is greatest. This could range from new business acquisition through to delivering higher level bespoke stewardship and key account management for our high value supporters. The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will focus on increasing donations from individual supporters. Barnsley is a city with high numbers of people seeking asylum and refugees living there, within a community with high levels of social and economic deprivation. The Barnsley Refugee Advice Project (BRAP) service exists to enable people seeking asylum and refugees to live with safety, connected to the expert support they need to live with dignity and independence in their local community, and able to rebuild their lives in Barnsley. BRAP is a partnership project with Barnsley CVS funded for 5 years by the National Community Lottery Fund, funded until 2026. The BRAP service plays a vital role bringing together statutory and voluntary and community sector partners to develop collaborative solutions to shared issues such as access to legal advice, while also providing solutions to key service gaps such as immigration and housing and welfare advice.
The post holder will develop and implement a community development strategy centred on the needs of people seeking asylum and refugees designed to achieve systemic change with refugees in Barnsley. They will achieve this by work with like-minded partners to create a coordinated ‘whole town’ change strategy that if successful could be replicated elsewhere as a model of good practice.
