We're looking for an efficient, friendly Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our team. Much of our work is delivered by volunteers, so this post is critical to our service delivery. You will recruit, induct, and coordinate volunteers; including leading our Good Neighbours Scheme and Befriending Scheme and supporting the recruitment for all other projects.
About you: You will have experience of volunteering and in coordinating volunteers or staff, and have strong organisational and communication skills. You will be pro-active and diligent and able to solve problems as they arise. You will be the 'first point of contact' for most people getting in touch with FGN, and so you will have a welcoming, and compassionate demeanour and be able to represent FGN at events (partnership meetings, volunteer recruitment drives, fairs, etc).

MaidEnergy works by:

BACKGROUND
The External Communications Officer forms part of the Communications and Engagement Directorate, reporting into the Senior External Communications Manager. The HR and Team Coordinator will help ensure that Purposeful Ventures runs smoothly and efficiently.
You’ll work most closely with the Head of People, helping her to keep all of our HR administration in good shape and making sure that current and prospective staff are informed of and supported through HR matters across the employee lifecycle. You will also work closely with the COO and wider operations team to support the overall smooth running of Purposeful Ventures, from making sure we have a pleasant and productive physical office space to helping to maintain our digital files and CRM, to minuting meetings and supporting with finance administration.
This role would suit someone keen to develop their functional expertise in HR and gain exposure to the breadth of operational functions.

Responsibilities and duties
Provide effective and efficient HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle for both Purposeful Ventures and its incubated ventures and funds, including:
- being the first point of contact for the HR mailbox;
- managing employee onboarding and offboarding processes;
- coordinating all HR admin processes;
- upkeep of the HR Information System, CharlieHR; and
- administration of all recruitment procedures from job application to appointment, using Team Tailor.
Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Purposeful Ventures Team, by providing team coordination and administrative support, including:
- being the first point of contact for general enquiries;
- managing the team calendar;
- supporting the external IT services contractor;
- providing research and administrative support to the COO;
- ensuring the efficient management of CRM information, team and project documents and templates; and
- minuting incubated ventures’ project board meetings as needed.
Ensure that the Purposeful Ventures team has a pleasant and productive working environment by:
- supporting the operations team to make the Purposeful Ventures office a pleasant, productive, inspiring environment for staff and contractors to work and collaborate;
- keeping the Purposeful Ventures office well stocked with agreed supplies;
- managing the day-to-day coordination of the office and office visitors; and
- monitoring office IT equipment, ensuring items are working well and repaired swiftly and that staff have access to the facilities they need.
Contribute to the smooth running of our finance processes, providing support to finance staff including mailbox monitoring and expenses submissions.

ABOUT DEMOCRACY CLASSROOM
Democracy Classroom is a partnership between over 100 civil society organisations that supports young people to engage in elections and democracy. The network supports collaboration through newsletters, training, meet up’s and an annual conference, as well as providing resources and training for teachers and youth practitioners. Democracy Classroom pools the collective support of the sector through the Democracy Classroom Platform, where teachers and youth workers can access the collective support of the membership.
Following the recent General Election, the network has experienced growth and is now preparing to support upcoming elections, votes at 16 and new developments such as changes to democratic education and the curriculum review. The network is non-partisan and works across all 4 nations in the UK.
The aims of the network include:
Increasing the number of young people engaging with democracy and elections.
Increasing the number of teachers and youth workers delivering democratic education, and strengthening their capacity to deliver impactful democratic engagement and voter registration activities in schools, colleges and youth settings across the UK.
Improving coordination between organisations engaging young people across the youth, education and democracy sectors, through growing the Democracy Classroom network.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The post holder will work with the Director and the Programme Manager of Democracy Classroom to support the growth of the Democracy Classroom network by managing the website / platform. They will:
- Liaise with partners to compile learning resources and training opportunities to share on the platform.
- Add resources, training opportunities and other relevant information to the platform as required.
- Ensure the platform is kept up to date and accessible.
- Support Democracy Classroom communication channels - producing Democracy Classroom newsletters and creating engaging social media content to highlight the work of partners, their learning resources and training opportunities, on the platform.
The post holder will also:
- Coordinate training for teachers and youth workers to deliver election education materials.
- Manage the Democracy Classroom database.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide administrative support for the Democracy Classroom network and other The Politics Project programmes and activities where required.
The job is based on a 12 month, fixed term contract (including a 6-month probation period), with opportunities for extension.
The Politics Project is based in London, and the post holder will be expected to work from the office at least two days a week. The hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week. Occasional travel to elsewhere in the UK and working unsocial hours in the evenings and at weekends may be required.
