About us
Who we are
MaidEnergy is a community energy Society, which supports the growth of renewable energy infrastructure projects for the benefit of the local community.
MaidEnergy supports the growth of locally generated and locally owned renewable energy in Maidenhead, Windsor, Egham, Staines and the surrounding area. We are a community business, democratically run, with an asset lock to preserve our solar panels or other energy generation infrastructure for the benefit of the community.
We launched our first renewable electricity generating community Solar Photovoltaic (PV) share offer in 2015. Since then people have demonstrated their faith in us by investing £970,000. Their investment has funded eight Solar PV installations totalling 640kW and a 60kW Ground Source Heat Pump. These installations have brought low carbon, lower priced renewable energy to public organisations and seen 260 local and national investors join a movement of ethical and financially rewarding community ownership.
Our culture and values
As a community benefit society, MaidEnergy is part of the co-operative movement. There are 10 values that all co-ops are based on:
- Caring for others
- Democracy
- Equity
- Equality
- Honesty
- Openness
- Self help
- Self responsibility
- Solidarity
- Social responsibility
All MaidEnergy's achievements have been made with volunteer Directors, supported by committed volunteers and specialist contractors as required. MaidEnergy is part of the lottery funded project Community Energy People and is now looking to employ a co-ordinator to increase our capacity and improve the consistency of our response.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We actively encourage people of all backgrounds, ages, races, religions, belief systems, sexual orientations and gender identities to apply to MaidEnergy. We particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups. We are working towards being a Disability Confident employer and are open to discussing how best to make that work with our successful candidate. We are committed to offering an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role. Please let us know if you have a disability (as defined under the Equality Act, 2010) that you would like to declare. Please also let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments that we can make to ensure that the application process is as accessible to you as possible.
