Role Description

Veganuary is recruiting a part-time HR Manager who will work to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our International operation. This standalone HR position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will manage and continue to develop all HR practices and processes ensuring compliance with local labour laws and regulations across the countries that Veganuary operates in. This role is crucial in ensuring the organisation attracts, recruits and develops high performing team members. The HR manager will work closely with the wider Operations team to ensure the efficient, supportive, and compliant culture of Veganuary. 

Core Responsibilities

Recruitment

• Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, contacting candidates, arranging interviews and onboarding
• Coach and support hiring managers with recruitment processes, screening and onboarding, ensuring compliance with international labour laws
• Ensure International salaries and benefits packages are competitive and attractive

Development 

• Stay informed of changes in employment law and implement necessary changes to HR policies
• Lead learning and development initiatives to support skills development across the team
• Design and deliver training programs tailored to meet the needs of diverse workforces in various International locations
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust strategies to maximise impact
• Lead on wellbeing initiatives for team members and act as MHFA
• Coordinate performance review and appraisal processes across Veganuary

Engagement

• Act as a primary point of contact for international HR issues, providing guidance and support to team members
• Lead on all employee relations issues addressing and resolving conflicts in a culturally sensitive and compliant manner
• Coordinate initiatives and champion diversity, equality and inclusion across Veganuary

· Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that respects cultural differences and promotes employee engagement

• Coordinate our bi-annual staff survey and other HR consultations

Reporting and Compliance 

• Maintain and develop our HRIS, BambooHR
• Monitor HR metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement
• Manage the monthly payroll administration, alongside external payroll providers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws
• Maintain and update employee records and HR documentation in accordance with legal requirements
• Ensure compliance with all local labour laws, employment standards, and immigration regulations across various jurisdictions
• Partner with Employers of Record to mitigate risks and address legal issues related to international employment

Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process normally takes 2- 3 weeks and usually consists of 4 stages as follows:

1. A job specific pre interview task (to be completed between 23rd - 26th September 2024)

We’re lucky enough to receive many amazing applications for our roles and it’s sometimes difficult to select a small number of people to interview. By having a pre interview task, it allows us to learn more about our shortlisted candidates than a CV and cover letter can tell us.

2. A first interview with the hiring manager and one other team member (Interviews will take place on 30th September 2024)

This is always competency based and job aligned so there isn’t anything for you to prepare.

3. A timed trial task (to be completed between 1st – 3rd October 2024)

You will be given a job specific task to be completed with a short window of time at a time agreed with our HR team.

4. A follow up second interview with the hiring manager and one other team member (Interviews will take place on the 7th October 2024)

This final stage allow the team to ask any follow up questions or explore areas that they have reflected on since the first interview. There isn’t usually anything to prepare.

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and organised communications all-rounder to support our communication and engagement activities and assist in our mission to ‘Make Ethics Matter’.

The role

The Communications and Engagement Officer role combines work on events, stakeholder management, public affairs and communications, all seeking to build audience engagement and increase the profile and influence of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.

The is a vital role within our Executive team, working across our priority areas and workstreams, with range of stakeholders, and utilising a variety of channels including in person and online events, website, email, social media and traditional media.

The Communications and Engagement Officer reports to the Senior Communications Manager and works closely with them across all communications functions. This post will have responsibility for updating our website, running our social media channels, producing internal and external newsletters and championing and maintaining our new brand identity, which is being introduced from November 2024. The post holder will also help to deliver our media relations and policy influencing activities, playing an active role in delivering media campaigns and in supporting our Parliamentary and Government engagement.

About you 

We are looking for someone with experience across the communications and engagement mix, including in events and internal communications, stakeholder management and digital and social media content creation. Our work focuses on research and policy in health and life sciences, and while you don’t need to be an expert in those areas, you should have an enthusiasm to develop knowledge of them and the ability to quickly get to grips with the landscape in which the Nuffield Council operates, our strategy and our target audiences. 

You will enjoy working in a team environment and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, ranging from subject specialists and academics to policy makers, journalists and members of the public. We are seeking someone who can think creatively about communicating complex and technical research and can work independently on a range of projects. You will be highly organised, with good project management skills and the ability to prioritise and work across several projects at once. 

We are looking for someone with a creative mind, strong news sense and ability to tailor communications to the appropriate audience. You will be able to turn your hand to writing newsletter copy, consultation responses, stakeholder emails and event materials / briefings to a high standard. You will be able to distil key messages from our outputs and use them to create content for a range of communication channels and audiences. 

Ideally, you will have some experience of managing both online and face-to-face events. You will be confident working with audio visual equipment and systems and have experience of using data for analysis, reporting and evaluation. 

Stakeholder engagement is a big part of the role, so you will need some knowledge and experience of using databases/CRM systems to manage and report on stakeholder communications.

Job Summary

• Implementing fundraising plans for identified St John Ambulance fundraising volunteers/groups in order to deliver the community fundraising strategy, key products/campaigns and messages
• Managing all community fundraising supporter relationships to agreed budgets, deadlines and stewardship levels
• Analysing and proactively managing fundraising group development in order to achieve agreed targets
• Work closely with other teams in your area to optimise the impact of engagement in your communities 
• Manage, recruit, induct, training/coaching, retaining and rewarding volunteers in line with the volunteer strategy
• Delivering leads and developing prospects to support the community fundraising strategy
• Monitoring and feeding back intelligence relating to identified St John Ambulance markets and competitors in order to inform future product development

As Research Officer you will support the development and implementation of Co-operatives UK's strategies through research, surveys, and feedback. In conjunction with the Leadership Team, you will set the strategic research priorities for Co-operatives UK.

• Align research efforts with Co-operatives UK’s goals and priorities to support policy and strategy formulation.
• Plan and conduct market research to understand public perceptions of co-operatives; Undertake survey and questionnaire-based research with co-operatives to identify trends, opportunities and challenges within the co-operative sector.
• Maintain awareness of ongoing initiatives across Co-operatives UK and actively collaborate with other departments to identify emerging research needs.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will be enthusiastic about the organisation and its mission, and you will have experience working as a Research Officer in another organisation.

• Educated to degree level or equivalent

• Experience in commissioning, designing and delivering quantitative and qualitative research projects 

• Project management skills including experience in managing data analysis projects 

• Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate them effectively to various stakeholders. 

• A proactive approach to identifying and addressing research needs. 

• Strong organisational and analytical skills with proficiency in database management and manipulation. 

• Good understanding of research processes and methodologies, data analysis techniques, and data protection regulations. 

• Proficiency in using data analysis tools and statistical software. 

• Ability to work with attention to detail, accuracy, and within specified deadlines.

As the Senior Volunteering Manager, you’ll be someone that can inspire people that you manage and wider staff in the team, and help lead key areas of our volunteering programme.

You’ll be someone who sets high expectations for the people that you manage, ensuring that they deliver the best experience possible for our volunteers through quality programme delivery and outcomes. You’ll do this through empowering them to deliver whilst supporting their professional development and investing in their skills.

This role will be responsible for some key department projects, setting expectations and targets with colleagues across the team, learning from our data, leading quality within our programme and looking to develop new ways of working.

We are looking for an experienced leader to run our Crosslight Branch, staff and volunteers in West Kent (with locations in across Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells), and to provide debt advice, case management, and money education to Crosslight’s service users. 

Our ideal candidate has prior debt advice experience combined with experience of leading and supervising staff and volunteers. We understand that these are unique skills and therefore if you have leadership experience gained in other social welfare settings, there may be an opportunity to train as a debt advisor if you can demonstrate that you possess the skills, maturity and determination to become proficient in this element.

Versus Arthritis tackles this holistically - they have services caring and providing advice for those living with arthritis and their carers, they campaign to ensure arthritis stays on the public agenda, and they research for a cure.

The corporate partnerships team is in a new phase of strategy. The incoming Corporate Fundraising Manager will focus primarily on new business in the first instance, building up new and exciting cases for support from their wealth of programmes, projects and services, and taking these to market. Over time, the role will shift more towards a 50-50 split between account management and new business.

The position will:

• Create a detailed prospect pipeline and development plans for all corporate and commercial relationships
• Provide new business expertise to drive the aims and objectives of Versus Arthritis
• Take responsibility for growing a portfolio of corporate partnerships - be they one-off gifts, multi-year grants or partnerships that deliver strategic impact
• Work cross-organisationally to ensure other teams are aware and bought into the work of the corporate partnership team
• Build and retain a network of contacts across the spectrum of corporate partnerships and the commercial world, which ensures you remain abreast of developments, ready to adopt new practices and are primed to capitalise on new opportunities
• Work closely with the Senior Manager on developing and implementing the corporate partnerships strategy

Purpose of the role

The purpose of the role is to enable more Disabled people and carers to use technology in their daily lives to aid wellbeing and independence. 

You will provide engaging one-to-one and group training to people who are digitally excluded, mostly in their own homes.

Main tasks

1. You will plan and conduct face to face, one-to-one (or group where required) training sessions with tech members – you will teach them how to use tablets and other devices, how to stay safe online, how to access services or do shopping online, or just help them get more confident in using technology – no two training sessions will be the same!

2. You will write reports from your visits, and will closely collaborate with volunteer coordination team

3. You will actively seek out tech members who may be willing to share their stories as case studies, and you will write up the case studies

Person specification

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in with a variety of audiences

· Great organisation skills

· Excellent problem-solving skills

· Good level of computer literacy including all Microsoft packages

· The ability and willingness to travel around Surrey to deliver face to face training in homes (daily)

· The ability and willingness to travel to the main office base in Burpham (when needed)

· The ability to work safely from home and willingness to do so, or the ability to work from our office base in Burpham
