The Role
This role is all about people – connecting with church leaders and other individuals within church communities, sharing your passion for freedom of religion or belief through sermons, presentations and conversations to inspire others to take action. You’ll be a natural networker and someone entrepreneurial who takes initiative and comes up with your own ideas for how best to reach busy church leaders and congregations. You will be self-motivated and able to work collaboratively.
Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):
- Proactively source speaking engagements in churches across the UK and fulfil these engagements, both by deploying a network of staff and volunteer speakers and by speaking yourself.
- Develop a plan to reach new and lapsed churches for CSW
- Use the CRM, as well as your own connections, to identify key church stakeholders to approach about partnering with CSW
- Build meaningful relationships with new and existing church partners, with the view to supporting churches in learning about justice and religious freedom issues and establishing or renewing support through prayer, campaigning and giving

The Head of Communications is a new senior role with leadership responsibility for:
Developing and delivering an integrated communications and engagement strategy to bring the diocesan vision, strategic plan and key programme areas to life, and build buy-in with stakeholders (e.g. parishes and congregations in the diocese) across a range of media.
Leading a digital channel refresh, designing channels (e.g. new website) and content around stakeholder needs and accessibility.
Day-to-day operational activity
- Advise senior colleagues (e.g. the Bishop, Diocesan Secretary, Archdeacons, etc) on all communications and engagement matters, contributing to the formation of relevant policies meeting diverse audience needs
- Line management of the Communications Team, lead on the preparation of the team’s annual operating plan, progress and KPI reporting, and oversee the preparation of the team’s annual budget and be accountable for all related expenditure.
- Keep up to date on best practice within the charity sector, latest communications and engagement insight, learning, and tools to future proof the digital offering.
- Build and maintain contacts with the Communications and Engagement community across the Church of England (which includes the East Midlands Communications network, the National Communications network and the teams at Church House, London and Lambeth Palace) to share good practice, skills and expertise.
- Build and maintain contacts with stakeholder partners e.g. Visit Derby, Visit Derbyshire, Peak District National Park.Lead the compilation, design, production and distribution of accessible printed, audio-visual, and digital materials.
- Take overall editorial responsibility for the development and management of all digital channel content (including the website) for internal and external audiences.
- Lead an expansion of the diocese’s and bishop’s social media presence, sourcing or developing content, sharing newsworthy information from across our diocese, and sharing impact reports.

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an amazing fundraiser to join our Church and Christian Engagement team. The heart of our work centres around engaging and inspiring Churches and Christians to join us- through regular giving, one off donations, action and prayer. Whether in churches, at festivals or events you will be sharing World Vision’s work around the world helping the most vulnerable children overcome poverty and experience fullness of life. You will be a confident communicator, a sharer of stories, a focused fundraiser.
You will join a team working across various fundraising and engagement activities throughout the year. You will build and manage your own caseload of external relationships across the UK, combining face-to-face, online and telephone work, to connect with churches and individuals. Using our existing resources, you will offer people the opportunity to join us- whether through sponsoring a child, donating to our work in emergencies, using our discipleship resources or praying for our work around the world.
In this team, we love that each day is different - from online meetings with longstanding church supporters, to meeting new audiences at Christian festivals, or on the road supporting our work on tour with an event partner. As a key member of the team, you'll be confident managing your own workload within the context of our wider team plans, working together with colleagues in wider teams to bring our work alive. You will have an eye for detail and fantastic relationship-building skills. You'll be confident working to targets, and excited about sharing World Vision’s work with new and existing donors.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Confidently building connections with churches and their leaders towards engaging with World Vision’s work, creating opportunities for individual giving or gifts from the church community.
- Using existing resources, campaigns and engagement tools to engage churches and individual Christians to support our work.
- Build a caseload of engaged church contacts to meet or exceed annual fundraising & acquisition goals, managing your time & workload.
- Ensure churches are on the correct supporter journey for their level of engagement, using appropriate touchpoints (telephone, email, meetings, hand written notes etc) to intelligently engage with key contacts. Maintenance of records, use of CRM system, monthly reporting on income and financial management including making sure gifts are properly allocated.
- Sharing WV’s work through in an audience appropriate way, including (but not limited to) presentations to church leaders, speaking in church services, or other external opportunities. Making a clear and compelling ask.
- Attending events (online and in person) to connect with individuals and leaders as a member of the WV team.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent attention to detail and be able to juggle multiple projects/pieces of information and form them into well-ordered activity plans and be able to prioritise.
Key skills required for this role:
- Superb communication skills, both in formal and informal settings
- Fundraising or sales experience
- Strong relational skills, potentially with experience in nurturing relationships towards financial engagement
- A good understanding of the UK church and Christian landscape

About the Role

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, the Major Donor Manager sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising team.
The role involves developing plans that feed into the USPG fundraising strategy to increase engagement from high net worth individuals and cultivating new high value donors. Managing the major donor income and expenditure budgets, ensuring all activity meets income targets and expenditure remains on budget. Developing and managing a pipeline of donors to approach and build relationships, securing high value (5 and 6 figure) gifts. About You

You are pro-active and self-sufficient, equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team to achieve shared goals. You are target driven with a hands-on approach, adapting as necessary to carry out a range of tasks from writing proposals, managing events and researching prospective donors.
You are highly personable, with the ability to engage supporters and stakeholders with diplomacy and persuasiveness. An excellent communicator with strong writing skills and the ability to adapt to different audiences, you will be comfortable working closely with senior leadership, trustees and influencers to unlock peer connections and leverage new support. - As a confident communicator, you will lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work.
- Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
- Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education
Line management and training
- Manage the Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
- Be line managed by River Church staff, locally, and by Resurgo, nationally, to support with the set-up and ongoing operations of the centre and report back on KPI.
Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry
- You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members, and help the Assistant coaches to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme.
- Ensuring the Spear programme is a key missional feature of the work of the church
- Work with the Head of Operations and Fundraising Assistant to prepare successful grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
- Attend and participate in Staff Meeting, Tuesday morning Prayer Meeting, and Sunday Services (serving on a team at one or more Sunday service) • Regularly pray for Spear, River Church, and in particular our Social Transformation work.

As Supporter Care Manager you will play a key role in Viva’s Fundraising & Engagement team, building relationships with and providing exceptional supporter care to our donors – including individuals, churches and community groups. Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pioneering Project, as we develop pathways to faith on the Roundshaw Estate.
With significant grant investment from the Church of England, we are now setting up a Pioneering Project to develop these pathways, with new innovative spaces being added along the way. We will then train and support other Estate partner churches across the Southwark Diocese to try out our approach, contextualising our models of mission to their communities if appropriate. This is a really exciting project that will make a huge positive difference to individuals and communities. As such, we are looking for an experienced Operations Director to manage this project and oversee the team that will be recruited.
This role is vital to ensure we deliver on the agreed outcomes of the project over 5 years, which will involve:
- project oversight
- team management and recruitment, so new team members can thrive in their roles
- direction of our operational processes, including developing our finance, IT and communications (including a new website) to support the project.
We would love someone in this role to have a passion for Jesus, a drive to make our processes and systems as fruitful as possible, with the ability to nurture a joyful and motivated team. This global role will support our Church-focused work, as part of Tearfund's 'Crisis to Resilience' (C2R) corporate priority, and will play a special role in coordinating and supporting projects which cut across a number of teams.
As part of this role, the successful postholder will focus on a number of key areas, including:
- Development and/or adaptation and promotion of key C2R resources, policies procedures and materials
- Learning, Research and analysis (internal and external) to strengthen the evidence based for the role of the church in disasters
- Training and communications support with a focus on C2R
- Church/faith network engagement with a focus on disasters and emergencies
The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated and able to multi-task in the face of competing deadlines. Applicants should have strong written and verbal communications skills, and will have proven experience in the following areas:
- Creating training and communication materials, policies, guidelines, policies and procedures
- Working collaboratively with peer organisations in emergency response and disaster risk management work
- Project administration
- Research, evaluations or other learning activities

Location: This is a global role and can be based in any country where Tearfund is registered and legally able to employ staff.
