The Associate Director for Examinations and Training is a crucial and influential role at the College, as you will be responsible for providing leadership on the division’s work in relation to examinations, assessment and training standards, digital development and the College’s international relationships.

As Associate Director for Examinations and Training, you will actively contribute to the leadership of the division by providing guidance and assisting with directing the development and implementation of strategies in support of the division’s operational plan and the College’s overall strategy.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Education & Training, you will provide senior strategic direction and operational leadership for three reporting Departments, inspiring, motivating and empowering members of the division to build a high-performance culture, achieving transformational change in both divisional business and culture.

Providing senior leadership in managing and collaborating with external stakeholders and regulators both in the UK and internationally, you will sponsor and lead on strategic projects, including international, that cover multiple areas of divisional work. You will also provide recommendations and advice on business development to the Divisional Director and other committees through regular high-quality reports and data analysis.

Suitably qualified at graduate level or with relevant professional experience, you should have a background of working in a leadership role with a demonstratable ability to combine both strategic and operational leadership.

With proven knowledge and understanding of professional training, competency-based education and assessment and regulatory standards, you should also have demonstratable experience of competency-based education design and delivery.

You should have significant experience of initiating and leading programmes of change, generating new ideas and innovative ways of working and have experience in developing quality assurance procedures and systems.

Proven experience of managing multi-disciplinary personnel and of budgetary management, including budget preparation and forecasting, along with demonstrable strategic thinking and analytical skills, are essential. 

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment

Lead on recruitment, including drafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and managing the selection process. Pre-employment (including Enhanced DBS) and Right to Work checks.

Liaise with HR provider to ensure compliance with latest employment legislation.

Ensure that all employee and freelancer contracts comply with current laws and policies. Set up and maintain employee personnel files.

In conjunction with HR provider, Neathouse, conduct regular reviews of employment policies and the Employee Handbook to ensure compliance and best practice.  Communicate any changes to the workforce as needed. 

Champion EDI across the organisation and ensure that EDI is embedded in all people related processes across the organisation.

In the event of conflict, to support both the employee and line manager by ensuring there is a process for dispute resolution that is legally compliant, and to help identify solutions.

Review and implement a plan to ensure compliance with the Worker Protection Act, to ensure that Avenues meet requirements and can demonstrate ongoing compliance.

Person Specification.

Past experience working in an HR role, preferably with CIPD5

What will you be doing?

International Development at Mothers’ Union (MU)

Our central team supports and attracts funding for a portfolio of international and UK based programmes which align with our 3 strategic priorities identified by members:  ending violence, poverty and injustice. Key programmatic areas in which we work include livelihoods, literacy,  Gender Based Violence and parenting. Working with our members we have developed participatory approaches in core areas such as literacy and savings and credit groups which are inclusive of bible studies and stories to help people to discover their own capabilities and to inspire them to take action.

Over the last year, we have been working towards developing processes to ensure that we have a consistent baseline of core information about partners and programmes as well as continuing to gather stories and information about projects and work that our members are leading on which we are not directly involved in.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern

This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities and office administration

· Lead on all first aid and fire compliance duties

· Issuing and collating health and safety risk assessment forms to staff, organising fire, health & safety and first aid training as required

· First point of contact for staff re any office/building/equipment maintenance issues

· Liaise with landlord for office/building/equipment maintenance/health & safety matters

· Stationery, refreshments and printing replenishing and ordering

· Courier and postage bookings and arrangements

· Maintain a supplier contact list

· Processing, collating and reconciling credit card expenses

· Managing documents/files within the onsite storage area (crypt) and around the building

· Provide office induction to new staff, including requesting FPH/RCP passes, IT accounts, welcome pack including, IT & health & Safety induction and fire evacuation training

Events and Travel Administration

· Manage event registrations.

· Log and chase event registration RSVPs for external invites and issue joining instructions

· On the event day involvement and support including arranging set up

· Source venue space for FPH events and meetings to be held externally

· Identify and negotiate bulk accommodation for FPH events/conference

· Make travel and hotel arrangements for FPH Officers, Board members, Committee members and staff including taxi, rail, air and car.

· Identify, develop, implement and maintain administrative procedures/systems

Zoom administration

· Arrange zoom meetings and webinars as per requests, including sharing meeting details

· Log relevant meetings in the booking’s spreadsheet

· Host zoom meetings and provide support as required 

Membership Programme

· To provide administrative support to the membership team when required

· Assist with incoming membership queries/request

Workforce Programme (Revalidation & CPD) 

1. To support and administer the Faculty’s statutory duties relating to the revalidation of public health specialists including:

· monitoring and delivering the revalidation service

· responding to member and other queries in relation to revalidation.

· maintaining and updating the list of FPH revalidation appraisers

· liaising with external stakeholders, including the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges 

2. To support the development and delivery of a system of appraisal and revalidation for public health specialists from backgrounds other than medicine. 

3. To administer the Faculty’s annual programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity including:

· monitoring and delivering the annual programme

· maintaining and updating the CPD database

· processing annual CPD returns

· arranging annual training of CPD advisers

· supporting members in using the online CPD Diary

4. To administer the CPD annual review process including analysis of the review for the CPD Director. 

5. To provide administrative support to the CPD Committee including:

· organising and servicing meetings as required

· preparation of papers

· minute-taking and follow-up of action points

6. To deal with general enquiries and to assist with all routine tasks of the Education, Standards & Advocacy Department.

7. To deal with enquiries to a high level of customer service, replying, referring or responding as appropriate.

8. To liaise with colleagues elsewhere in the organisation to ensure good communication, coordination and collaboration.

9. Provide cover within the department as required and assist with general enquiries.

Endometriosis UK is the leading UK charity supporting those living with endometriosis. Formed in 1981, we offer information and support to women and those assigned female at birth with endometriosis, for example through our website and information leaflets, and via our local support groups, Helpline and online forum. As well as directly supporting those with endometriosis, we work to raise awareness of endometriosis amongst healthcare professionals, the public and the media; lobby for improved treatment and management; and support research.

The Communications and Campaigns team works to improve awareness of endometriosis and drive change for those affected by the disease. We are now looking to appoint a Communications and Marketing Manager to develop, manage and lead our external communications and marketing programme, working to support the Head of External Affairs to broaden our reach and ensure that the DPH voice has impact.

The information you collect will be reported to decision-makers responsible for health and care services.
