Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to everyone who is in need of support.

Herts Young Homeless (hyh) are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic youth engagement worker to join our charity. hyh's strategic aim is to 'Be More Youth Led' and this role is crucial in supporting that commitment. The right candidate will be fun, open-minded, tech savvy and enjoy working using their own initiative. They will be passionate about youth engagement and motivated to translate youth ideas into actionable plans for the charity.

This role will facilitate a variety of fun and meaningful engagement opportunities for young people to have a voice on decisions that affect them. The successful candidate will create open, safe and inclusive spaces for young people, to enable them to form and express their voice on issues that are important to them and to hyh. The youth engagement worker will have the opportunity to inform, develop and grow our youth engagement offer; if successful this may lead to professional development opportunities such as line management of volunteers and staff.

What can you bring to the team?

• Candidates Must have a full clean driving license and use of own vehicle for business purposes
• Co-facilitate annual ‘Youth Summits’; consulting young people from across the county on issues related to the charity/youth homelessness.
• Launch and facilitate a youth advisory board (online and in person). Act as an advocate to deliver key youth board messages to our leadership team and board.
• Co-ordinate work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for young people.
• Organise and co-facilitate social events for our young people.
• Support our young housemates in completing ASDAN qualifications.
• Support the content of our digital communication to young people.
• Complete relevant data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth engagement work.
• Ensure youth engagement and coproduction is considered at all levels of the organisation to ensure decision making is youth informed where appropriate.
• Develop new an innovative ways of involving hyh services users in shaping our services and coproducing our work.
• Ensure good ‘youth voice’ communication across all hyh services, providing updates at service team meetings.

The organisation is founded and led by artist and curator Mohammed Ali MBE, who has built a strong team over the past two decades. We create events and programmes that explore commonalities and shared narratives of people across all faiths and those of differing perspectives. We are currently a small team of three employees and 3 more regular freelancers with ambitions to grow! 

We are now looking for our next hire - an experienced Senior Producer - to help us support our ambitious plans.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The  Senior Producer will support SCA’s Artistic Director in the effective delivery of all SCA activity, from planning to delivery review, whilst providing effective event support. You will supervise and manage a small team.

As Senior Producer you will work collaboratively with creative organisations and practitioners; be skilled at building relationships with speed and credibility with people at all levels, cultivating strong relationships with UK, international partners and venues alongside developing new partnerships. You will also support the Artistic Director to oversee and manage events and projects.

You will be a creative, collaborative and ideas driven individual, confident in managing people and multiple priorities, with extensive experience of producing complex productions with a range of partners.

What you will be responsible for:

• Identify artistic opportunities that further SCA artistic ambitions, nationally, internationally and digitally by developing partnerships and prospecting leads 

• Work with the wider SCA freelance team (production manager, tech etc) to deliver diverse commissions, programme strands and ideas across multiple interdisciplinary artforms. 

• In collaboration with the Artistic Director establish new relationships with potential partners and companies, programmers and producers, nationally and internationally. 

• Identify the best way to develop each project, and be the first point of contact for events and projects that are taking place locally

• Ensure artists SCA is working with are supported, communicated with, and managed to ensure the best possible experience.

• Manage event/project budgets liaising with the Executive Director providing regular and accurate updates. 

• Manage and champion representation, accessibility and inclusion across the Producing Process including setting frameworks for accountability and monitoring. 

• Ensure effective internal production communication between the SCA team, artists, production partners and staff 

• Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget 

• Work with the SCA team to collect data for Arts Council England and other funders as 

• Lead on projects that include community engagement and meet with the local community champions and figures to profile build and develop relationships, including schools and our work within schools 

• Represent the company at cultural, city council and Arts Council meetings as required locally and nationally

• Work with partner venues to ensure all spaces for projects, including workshops, rehearsals and technical support are booked 

• Work with the Production manager for site specific delivery to ensure the technical and production requirements for the artists are met. 

• Liaise with the artists to understand who is attending, what their production and technical requirements are and liaise with venues and SCA staff with regards to implementing this. 

• Liaise and work with the operations manager with regards to contracting of artists, freelance staff and access to Port Hope. 

• Advance planning of production schedules in conjunction with the Operations Manger and Studio Assistant to ensure that events can be set up in good time.

ABOUT YOU:

• Demonstrated achievement of results in proactive partnership, stakeholder and business development

• Previous responsibility for contracting and financial oversight

• Experience of managing projects and large-scale events 

• Working knowledge and understanding of operational delivery linked to projects and programmes, including the development of systems, policies and procedures and ensuring compliance

Background:

National FASD is dedicated to supporting people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), their families and communities. It promotes education for professionals and public awareness about the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.  National FASD is a source for information on FASD to the general public, press and to medical, social care and educational professionals. 

Role purpose:

The organisation is going through a period of growth and needs a proactive, experienced financial/admin coordinator to help us ensure our financial oversight administration runs smoothly and efficiently as we grow the organisation. This person will work closely with our Chief Executive.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with bookkeeper and accountants overseeing accounts, budgeting, financial reporting and management accounts 
• Preparing regular financial updates and other documentation for trustees' meetings
• Exploring ways to develop internal financial systems to sustain long-term growth

Location:

Person specification

The ideal candidate will be dynamic and creative, energised by the idea of contributing to a charity with an important mission. Candidates should be at ease with computers and budgeting, and be ready to work with a team of consultants, colleagues and like-minded organisations to ensure National FASD is implementing best practices financially and administratively with sensitivity for our key stakeholders and under the guidance of our trustees. 

Qualifications: 

• Preferably at least 3 years’ experience working in a related field, either in paid work or through volunteering
• DBS check is required

Knowledge:

•  Experience with FASD (or another neurodevelopmental condition) either through professional experience or lived experience is preferred
• Familiarity with the charitable/third sector

Skills, abilities, competencies:

• Ability to work independently and juggle several projects
• Must have experience using a range of computer programmes such as Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or an ability to easily learn new computer software

Post Title: Young Women’s Worker

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated person with a passion for volunteering and training who can aide in helping to build and sustain a solid and quality framework for the volunteering and workforce training provision at Mind BLMK.

The successful candidate will aide in the creation and administration of cohesive processes and systems for workforce training and in ensuring that Mind BLMK increases its engagement of volunteers, which will include establishing community links and supporting the organisation’s vision and values.

Key Duties

• Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and mapping of Mind BLMK’s current workforce training offer, helping to identify gaps in provision (e.g. through staff appraisals, supervisions etc.), evaluate alternative solutions and making recommendations for effective and impactful training pathways as needed for all staff and volunteers.
• Continue the ongoing audit of existing staff and volunteer training records and maintain the framework for storing and reviewing staff and volunteer training records.
• Monitor and develop if necessary the monitoring system that shows staff and volunteers are completing the training required for their role and taking action when gaps are identified.
• Manage the staff training inbox and coordinate the administrative aspects of the training cycle, such as scheduling, booking, invoicing, and reporting.
• Promote and support the value of volunteering within Mind BLMK and with external organisations.
• Continue to review and monitor all existing volunteer roles on an ongoing basis to ensure an effective volunteer contribution in line with contractual obligations where appropriate is maintained across all departments.
• Aide managers with procedures for designing volunteer roles, managing enquiries, applications, interviews, references, DBS checks and provide a supportive oversight of each candidate’s volunteering cycle.

Financial Controller

This is a nonprofit distributing Community Benefit Society (a form of co-operative). Since 2010 when it was set up, it has built 14.5 MW of community owned solar power systems and one small hydro scheme, enough power to meet the equivalent annual electricity demand of around 5,000 homes.

The Role

They are looking for a technically minded management accountant with an interest, or experience, in the renewable energy sector. This new post will take on a range of responsibilities within a successful and growing community business, including financial reporting, financial planning, debt financing and budget management. This is a critical role with the opportunity for progression within the organisation for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversight and checking of outsourced production of quarterly management accounts and monthly cashflow
• Supporting the MD on reporting to full board/Finance Sub-Committee meetings and to external grant funders/finance providers
• Leading budget setting process, monitoring against actual performance, identifying trends and recommending action where necessary
• Maintaining BWCE’s long term asset portfolio financial model, analysing and reporting on trends and recommending action where necessary
• Overseeing asset revaluations and the annual audit process
• Collaborating with and reporting to the Senior Management Team around establishing effective financial controls and processes including grant funding budget management systems
• Supporting/overseeing project managers with implementation of budget and WIP analysis processes
• Supporting the MD and the Senior Management Team with strategic financial decision making linked to:
  • business planning
  • fundraising including share/bond offers and senior debt
  • cashflow management
  • asset investment and revaluation

Skills and Qualifications

• Qualified or part qualified ACCA Advanced Diploma, CIMA or equivalent accountancy qualification
• At least 3-5 years proven experience as a finance professional
• Experience of preparing financial reports for senior staff
• Working knowledge of accounting standards and practices, VAT and HMRC regulations in England
• Ability to effectively use data to produce informative reports for use by others
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivation and initiative, ability to learn quickly and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with experience of working to tight deadlines and budgets

You will need:

• A passion for working with victim/survivors & an understanding of domestic abuse & its impact

The role

Role Purpose

To support the development of high quality, trustworthy, current and effective information resources for the lupus community. This role plays an important part in our work to empower people living with lupus and supporting families and carers impacted by a diagnosis of lupus.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery

• Help to review, update and co-develop health information content for the lupus community in line with our schedule, maintaining a high standard of evidence-based information production, following appropriate criteria for accreditation by professional organisations. This could include support with research, liaising with external experts for input and review, copy writing, proof reading and production (including design).
• Work with colleagues, healthcare professionals and people with lived experience of lupus to codevelop high quality information resources.
• Communicate health-related updates, such as website articles on changes to access to vaccinations.
• Respond to emailed queries related to lupus and related conditions, health system access, treatments, etc.
• Support with co-ordinating the production of the charity’s magazine 3 times a year.
