Our incredible volunteers run more than 200 branches and locations across the UK and Ireland. They offer their time to help to deliver our 24-hour emotional support service to callers in many ways, from answering telephones and emails, to fundraising, generating publicity, administration and finance.
You don’t need to have been through a particular life experience or be from a certain walk of life. Anyone who wants to help others, is tolerant and open-minded is welcome to apply.

About Us:
At Tenterden Mindfulness (TM), we are dedicated to supporting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of our community. We offer a variety of Mindfulness programs designed to promote personal growth, inner peace, and resilience. We are looking for passionate and experienced Mindfulness Teachers to join our team and lead mindfulness sessions for individuals, groups and businesses of all ages and backgrounds.
Role Overview:
As a Mindfulness Teacher at TM, you will facilitate mindfulness sessions, helping participants cultivate a sense of awareness, presence, and balance in their lives. You will guide participants in developing mindfulness practices, including breathing exercises, body scans, and mindful movement, to improve their focus, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mindfulness sessions for individuals, groups and businesses, both in-person and virtually
- Develop and deliver mindfulness programs that cater to diverse needs and skill levels
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants
- Offer individual guidance and coaching to those who need additional support
- Monitor and evaluate participant progress, adjusting sessions as needed
- Collaborate with other Teachers to integrate mindfulness into broader programs
- Stay current on mindfulness research and practices to ensure the highest quality instruction
Requirements:
- Certification in Mindfulness or similar mindfulness training
- Previous experience teaching mindfulness to diverse groups
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere for learners
- A deep personal mindfulness practice and commitment to ongoing professional development
- Flexibility in working hours, including the possibility of evening and weekend sessions
Desirable Skills:
- Experience teaching mindfulness to children, teens, adults or corporate clients
- Strong organizational skills for managing training schedules
- Interest in contributing to the growth of a mindful community

For 28 years The Centre Place has been providing vital services which relieve the suffering and distress of children and young people across Nottinghamshire. We are looking for Client Support Volunteers to assist in the Garden alongside our horticulturists in the supervision of our adult clients and teenagers with a variety of disabilities.
Our volunteers work in the garden with clients, helping them with various tasks such as planting, harvesting, pruning and mowing to name a few, under the guidance of our team of horticulturists.
As well as general gardening work you will be assisting our clients, both children and adults with the opportunity to achieve a qualification in horticulture.
Other tasks our volunteers help with include general garden maintenance, DIY tasks or craft/cookery activities.
No gardening experience is required, just the ability to get along with others and muck in! This can be a great stepping stone to further education or work opportunities.

We are currently looking to offer volunteering placements with our Mental Health Recovery Pathway (MHRP) – a mental health provision based across three sites in Islington responding to the mental health needs of Islington residents.
The Integrated Community Support (ICS) service provides day service opportunities for people with low and medium Preventative Care Needs.
You will be assisting service users who experience mental distress in group settings.
We ask for a commitment of at least 1 day a week 10:15am – 4:00pm for a full year (+ about 2-3 months for DBS check and induction), though there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer more than one day a week.

1 - MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
To provide confidential emotional support for people experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. To provide such support by telephone, face to face, email, letter, web chat and whatever other means of communication may be adopted by Samaritans.
2 - POSITION AND SUPPORT IN ORGANISATION
- Accountable to: There will be a duty Leader and Director
- Liaises with: Leader and Branch volunteers
- Works within a team of: Branch volunteers
3 - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide confidential emotional support as above
- To uphold Samaritans Mission, Vision & Values & Policies & Procedures
- To complete regular volunteering duties, including overnight duties, as agreed
- To support fellow Samaritan volunteers during shared duties
- To debrief with duty Leader after each shift
- To liaise with duty Leader in respect of difficult or emergency situations or when in doubt
- To follow instructions given by duty Leader or Director
- To maintain caller log sheets and/or systems as required by the branch
- To undertake continuous development training
4 - QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- To be able to actively listen without prejudice
- To be able to communicate clearly with callers and branch volunteers
- Ability to deal sensitively with all callers, including vulnerable people, those with mental health issues and children, as necessary
- Able to follow procedures and maintain systems
- Ability to recognise the need for support (in themselves and others) and to seek or provide support where necessary
- Awareness of own emotional triggers and can cope with own feelings
- Demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of Samaritans values
- Listening volunteers should be 18 or over upon completion of their training.
5 - APPOINTMENT AND TIMESCALES
- Duties to be arranged with the branch
- (As a guide, the typical arrangement is 3-4 hours per week including an overnight duty approximately once a month, or as required by the branch)

- Based at the branch
- All out of pocket expenses related to the role will be reimbursed in line with Branch Expenses Policy

The Structured Intervention Support (SIS) service offers support for people with high and complex needs.
You will be assisting service users who experience mental distress in one-to-one settings:
- help to resettle in the community on discharge from hospital
- help to develop strategies to improve their quality of life and reduce their dependence on statutory services
- provide personalised key work support to enable people with complex mental health needs progress and maintain independent living.
We are looking for volunteers who can support people with activities for a minimum of 1 day per week. Activities such as:
- Escorting people to appointments/outings/activities or events
- Organisational and administrative tasks – help with budgeting; understanding/applying for welfare benefits; letter writing and form filling; arranging activities/appointments; planning the use of other services such as shopping
- Supporting people to maintain their homes – reporting/organising repairs; organising a move; signposting and referring to services and activities
- Ad-hoc support
We ask for a commitment of at least 1 day a week 9:30 – 5:00 for a full year (+ about 2-3 months for DBS check and induction), though there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer more than one day a week.
Staff benefits include volunteers receiving 3 days of training and a fortnightly group supervision.

About the role
We are looking for Volunteer Peer Support Leads to support our Wellness Garden in Leek, Staffordshire Moorlands. You will be based at John Hall Wellness Garden and, ideally, you will be able to commit 3 per week to volunteering.
As a Volunteer Peer Support Lead you will play an integral part of John Hall Wellness Garden’s future, by delivering and leading support sessions. We currently run successful Peer Led Art and Craft and Creative Writing groups and are looking to expand the sessions that we offer. We are open to working with volunteers who can deliver sessions that would enhance the creative/learning activities – so if you feel you have the skills and drive to lead a group, then we would love to hear from you! This is a great opportunity to develop your current existing skills, and network with other volunteers.

About the service
John Hall Gardens is a Community Education Garden & Café green space for the community of Leek, local schools, colleges, and social enterprises. With the aim of enabling the local community to work/learn and socialise with people with mental and physical health support needs. This includes adults of all ages and children and young people. We are open 6 days a week (Monday to Friday 10-4 and Saturday 10-3)
What you will be doing as a Volunteer Peer Support Lead
- Give a few hours of your time on a weekly basis and be willing to facilitate a peer support group around a skill set that is familiar and you’d be willing to share i.e., creative arts, crafts, textiles, poetry.
- Provide assistance and teach others.
- Support and encourage members to thrive within the group and aim to ensure that the sessions are both enjoyed and fun for participants.
