DCF are a family-founded charity basee in South London, focusing on supporting children and young people's wellbeing. We provide youth groups, workshops and 121 support in schools and in the community.
This is an exciting, key opportunity to develop our income generation, therefore supporting us to reach more young people.
We are looking for a Trustee to lead on financial oversight of the charity, set up financial controls and processes and oversee our treasurer.
Our board currently has six Trustees however, the two who oversee financial controls and treasurer responsibilities are stepping down in May. We currently have a lack of financial oversight which impacts on grant applications and planning. We have a need for trustees with specific skillsets so that each board member can take ownership of their areas related to the charity. Currently our CEO has a very active role within Board meetings and would benefit from support from proactive members.
We would like to grow the Board to around nine members and create processes and procedures that diversify our income and sustainability. We currently deliver services in two boroughs (Croydon and Merton) and have a 5 year plan to expand to four boroughs.
What are we looking for?
This individual should have:
Knowledge and experience of charity finance practices
Professional accounting, finance or similar qualification
Strong understanding of financial management and reporting
Experience in establishing and setting out strategic goals and direction in organisations
Ability to explain financial procedures to other Board members
Experience of providing Governance to organisations
Ability to think creatively and strategically, and to exercise good, independent judgement.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

The role will involve:
Supporting the Treasurer
Providing overview of income, expenditure, reserves, balance sheet, and cashflow
Recording transactions
Monitoring spend for various projects
Providing reports to the Treasurer and Board
Forecasting project and operational spend with CEO
Attending 'monthly' meetings (10 per year)
Providing information to HMRC and Pension providers

- To hold the charity "in trust" for current and future beneficiaries by:
- Ensuring the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
- Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its culture.
- Ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
- Ensuring the charity's governance is of the highest possible standard.
Specifics for a Trustee with Fundraising Experience
The Fundraising Team works across Rethink Mental Illness and our partner charity Mental Health UK and comprises around 30 fundraisers led by the Director of Fundraising. The Trustee role will focus on Rethink fundraising activity only, although it will have oversight of fundraising for both charities. The team works across a diverse portfolio of income streams including Events, Community, Individual Giving and Legacies, Corporate Partnerships, Philanthropy and Trusts and Grants raising nearly £7million across both charities.
The Fundraising Team has gone through a significant period of change to set the foundations for growth and has embarked on a new 5-year strategy aligned with our organisational strategy. Currently in year 2, the team’s focus is building pipelines, optimising supporter journeys, building relationships with strategic partners and developing new products for a mass market.
We are looking for someone who is working or has worked at Director of Fundraising level who:
- Has experience of leading Fundraising Teams and overseeing fundraising strategy and governance - to help strengthen the Board’s knowledge and understanding of Fundraising and work with Director of Fundraising to maximise organisational buy-in. Has delivered transformational change within an organisation to shift outlook to a Fundraising first approach.
- Has experience across a diverse range of income streams and therefore can advise Director of Fundraising / Fundraising Team on new income streams and the amplification of opportunities. Knowledge of Capital Appeal fundraising would be beneficial as we would like to launch Rethink’s first Capital Appeal in next couple of years.
- Can support and champion all Fundraising activities including attending events, meetings with high-value supporters etc.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The operation and success of Smart Works Scotland is overseen by a passionate and dedicated Board of Trustees, which is led by the Chair of the Board.
Working closely with their Board, the Chair is responsible for the direction, financial stability and governance of Smart Works Scotland. A key accountability will be to oversee the successful delivery of the fundraising strategy and ensure the UK-wide Smart Works strategy is effectively brought to life in the Scotland.
A key part in achieving this will be leveraging networks to raise the profile of the charity and motivating others to join the Smart Works community as volunteers, ambassadors and donors.
The successful candidate will provide mentorship to the eight members of staff and cultivate a supportive environment where the team can thrive and deliver outstanding results. The role holder will also participate in national Smart Works forums alongside other Smart Works Chairs.
The role is perfect for an experienced and purposeful leader who is passionate about supporting women to transform their lives, and wants to use their skills, professional network and experience for good.
It is a voluntary position, with reasonable travel costs and expenses being covered.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, open-minded and forward thinking individual to join our small and enthusiastic team of volunteers; and who will share our love of, and desire to, protect the special and historic gardens and landscapes of Essex.
Who we are
Essex Gardens Trust was set up in 1996 with the aim of protecting the special and historic gardens and landscapes in our county. We do this through: i) research, ii) conservation and iii) education.
Our research team has recently completed a funded project to identify and record historic gardens and landscapes in the City of Southend. The results of this research has been given to both the County planning authority and the Essex Records Office where it will join our existing inventories.
The role
As Chair of Essex Gardens Trust you will be responsible through and with the Management Committee for:
- Providing overall leadership and oversight to EGT
- The overall health of EGT and its ability to continue to deliver the objectives for which it was founded;
- Chairing meetings of the Management Committee, ensuring that they are run efficiently and that decisions made are in accordance with good governance and are clearly recorded;
- Understanding the role and activities of each of the Trust’s core functions and, with this knowledge, being open to new opportunities for EGT to develop and extend its influence and activities;
- Being an ambassador for the Trust;
- Maintaining and developing external contacts and relationships with organisations such as, but not exclusively, The Gardens Trust, Essex Records Office, ARU Writtle and other County Gardens’ Trusts;
- Maintaining contacts with and attend relevant meetings of the movement’s national body, The Gardens Trust, and other external bodies.
You should have at least three years’ experience of the charity sector as a trustee or senior employee and be able to demonstrate a keen interest in gardens and landscapes; plus…

The Management Committee meets six times a year for about two hours, either by Zoom or at ARU Writtle. There is usually an annual meeting of County Chairs organised by The Garden Trust. Including these meetings, your time commitment would be on average eight to ten hours per month.

Who we are
Pebsham Primary Academy is a one form entry primary school in Bexhill. It joined TKAT, a Multi-Academy Trust, in January 2014. We, the Governors, are a diverse group of people from a range of backgrounds, including education, human resource management, retail work, legal work and finance. We aim to use our skills to support the school so that we attain our vision of a school where every child can shine. We are not paid, but can claim expenses for some activities.
We meet as a Local Governing Body, independent of the TKAT Board of Directors, but accountable to TKAT for everything we do, and our main functions are to set the strategic direction for the Academy and to hold its leadership to account.

Overview
Esteem works with young adults aged 14 - 26 to build lasting self-Esteem and stronger communities through group activities and 1-2-1 support.
Esteem creates spaces where everyone matters.
Esteem works with 200 young adults annually across all of Sussex who face barriers to achieving their life goals. We have a base in Shoreham and offer a variety of different opportunities, including social drop-in sessions, mentoring, wellbeing sessions, volunteering and counselling. We have a dedicated staff team with various backgrounds and a commitment to championing the views of young adults throughout the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer for a charity that is passionate about giving young adults the chance to develop their skills and confidence, both for their own benefit and for that of society as a whole. Esteem works with young adults to run Wellbeing, Social, Mentoring and Volunteering opportunities, with a youth-led and asset-based approach.
This voluntary role of Trustee & Secretary will include duties such as organising and minuting board meetings and some administrative duties to support the board. As well as the normal duties of a trustee (see The Essential Trustee Duties) The main aim is for the Trustee Secretary to support the Chair and the CO in ensuring the smooth functioning of the board of trustees. This would also compliment other areas we seek to enhance the trustee team, which include a wide range of skills, and expertise in youth work, strategy planning, business development, financial administration and fundraising, as well as an interest in vocational and personal development for young people, combined with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions.
You will be jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. All trustees should also be aware of, and understand, their individual and collective responsibilities, and should not be overly reliant on one or more individual trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity.
During Trustee meetings, your role would be to take minutes and record actions. Following each meeting, you would write up the minutes, share with the Board, as well as support the Chair and CO to plan for the next meeting.
Individuals are sought who have a strong empathy with Esteem’s goal of enabling young adults to flourish. The Esteem Secretary will be expected to contribute around 6 hours per month to the organisation, including board meetings, which run for two hours every two months, from 6-8pm at The Old School House, Shoreham. A minimum commitment of two years would be preferable. This post requires some flexibility due to the nature of Esteem being a growing organisation.
Your regular tasks and responsibilities will include:

We are seeking three individuals to be active members of our Board of Trustees, working collaboratively with other trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to help the food bank in pursuit of its Vision and Strategic Plan. The Trustee will also be expected to lead on certain areas and initiatives, as required by the charity, and which utilises the Trustees experience and skills.
Volunteering is a fantastic way for you to be involved in your local community and volunteers are at the heart of all that we do as a food bank. The role of volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to support people in crisis will continue to be critical as we work together to fulfil our vision of seeing a UK without the need for food banks.
Key Tasks:
- ensure that Stratford Upon Avon Foodbank complies with and pursues its objects as defined in its governing document, charity and company law, and other relevant legislation or regulations
- ensure that the food bank applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
- give firm strategic direction to the food bank contributing to the food bank’s strategic plan, helping set policies, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets
- appoint the food bank manager and monitor their performance
- safeguard the good name and ethos of the food bank
- ensure the effective and efficient administration of the food bank
- lead and/or serve on sub-committees and attendance at various other meetings, including with the charity’s staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- ensure an understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion
Trustees may also undertake additional work for the charity between meetings subject to their availability and skill set.
About you:
We are looking for people who want to help their local community and work towards the eradication of food poverty whilst support the food bank to continue to provide emergency food to people who find themselves in crisis. Our ideal candidates would demonstrate:

About Us:
Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. Our professional counselling community is made up of 50 – 60 qualified self-employed practitioners, working part-time to deliver talking therapies both online and in person.
We deliver around 500 counselling sessions per month to a broad range of individuals, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access therapeutic support. Evolve also provides supervision, reflective practice, critical incident support, and mental health awareness and related training to organisations and businesses large and small.
We are in the early stages of developing ambitious growth and innovation programmes, so this is a perhaps the most interesting time to be part of Evolve since we started in the 1970s. Opportunities for new Trustees to make their mark are considerable.
What We’re Looking For:
We are searching for an experienced HR specialist who can support our board, committees, and the CEO as we move through our next strategic stage of consolidation, then growth. Although long-established and successful, Evolve is reshaping itself and your HR expertise will be instrumental in positioning our charity to successfully meet the ever-growing demands and opportunities for supporting good mental health in our communities. Please note, a background in counselling is NOT a prerequisite for this role. Training will be available in general charity governance and in specific areas such as charity finance.
Your skills and knowledge, whether gained in the charity or commercial worlds, in a corporate HR Department, or a specialist consultancy, will help us to plan and “do the right thing” for our small staff and our self-employed counsellors, as we grow.

The treasurer will oversee the monitoring of the organisation’s finances on behalf of the whole council of trustees, to report regularly on them to the council, and to make sure that money and property are properly managed. They will ensure that bookkeeping, record keeping, and budgeting are done properly. This includes:

We’re looking for an IT professional to join our Board and provide thought-leadership on our digital and IT strategy, including guiding us through Cyber Essentials accreditation. If you can help us use technology to improve our local advice service, we would love to hear from you.
As our digital and IT expert, you will work alongside the Chair, Chief Executive and the external IT support company we use to:
- Ensure our IT operating systems and equipment are fit for purpose
- Guide the charity through the work needed to obtain Cyber Essentials accreditation
- Advise how we can use technology to improve our service to clients
- Translate the risks and opportunities of IT for other trustees
- Take the lead in evaluating IT related proposals for the Board.
We need someone who either lives, works or studies in Elmbridge (or the surrounding area) and who has:
- Demonstrable experience of delivering IT and business change management
- Experience of IT strategy planning and execution
- A good understanding of cyber security including obtaining Cyber Security Accreditation
- A good understanding of Microsoft 365 multi-factor authentication
- Experience of business continuity and disaster recover planning
- A good understanding of risk management
- A commitment to the Citizens Advice organisation
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
- We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Experience of Citizens Advice work is not required.
Time commitment
Our trustees are expected to attend six board meetings each year. These normally take place on a Monday evening, at our office in Esher. Reading preparation for each board meeting will take around one-two hours. All Citizens Advice trustees are required to complete a small number of e-learning courses each year.
In addition, as the IT lead, you will need to have time to participate in various IT discussions with our management team and with the IT support company we use. This work may average around 1-2 hours a week.

Our trustees play a vital role in achieving the Strata Florida Trust’s core aim – the restoration of the buildings of Mynachlog Fawr to create the Strata Florida Centre/Canolfan Ystrad Fflur as a place of heritage, culture and education. They oversee and steer the vision, strategy and progress of the Trust, drawing on their own knowledge, skills and networks.
As a small but ambitious charity we are seeking individuals for the role whose experience and skills will complement those of our existing board members and enable the Trust to continue to expand.
Remuneration: The role of Trustee is not accompanied by any financial remuneration.
Time commitment: Six Board meetings per year. Approximately 12 days in total including board meetings, and additional meetings, discussion and preparation.
Reporting to Chairman of the Trustees
Duties:
· Support and provide advice on the Strata Florida Trust’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
· Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
· Oversee the Trust’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
· Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
· Review and approve the Strata Florida Trust’s annual financial reports.
· Work with and support or challenge the Director of the Trust when needed.
· Contribute to regular reviews of the Trust’s own governance.
· Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
· Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect the Trust’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.
· Contribute to the broader promotion of the Trust’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
What we are looking for
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.
An interest in supporting heritage, Welsh culture, education, tourism, rural communities, and traditional skills is essential. We are particularly interested in those who have experience of operational delivery and professional skills including accountancy and income generation.
Previous governance experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

· Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
· Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.

· Trustees are appointed for a 4 year term of office, renewal for 3 further terms to a maximum of 12 years.
