About Rockinghorse Children’s Charity
Rockinghorse Children’s Charity supports sick and disabled children across Sussex. We support babies, children and young people, along with their families, at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and The Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and all of the specialist children’s wards and baby units throughout Sussex.
We deliver and fund projects that enable doctors and nurses to do more. All of projects are led by the needs of children and young people and their families – the lifesaving medical equipment, the support for parents and families, the toys for children spending time in hospitals across Sussex, the environments and spaces that help children feel more at home when they are in hospital and additional staff to make sure children get the best possible care when they are unwell.
Originally set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, we have been supporting children for more than 55 years, and in that time, we have supported nearly a million children and their families. As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, including the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, we work with the NHS, charity partners and the Sussex community to ensure children can be children no matter now sick they are.
We do not receive any government, statutory or local authority funding and so we rely on the generous support of individuals, community groups, companies and trusts: people like you, who care about children and want Sussex to be a safe place for children to grow up.
About the role
In 2022 we launched our three-year strategic plan, which prioritised our activities to enable us to support more babies, children and teenagers. As we enter the final year of this strategy the charity continues to expand and develop its projects and services children all over Sussex.
This role will support the Head of Finance & Operations and be responsible for organising and managing the charity’s volunteers and the volunteer programme – working across the charity to ensure we have the right volunteers to support our work. The role will work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to promote and advertise our volunteer opportunities. You will be responsible for the management, recruitment, onboarding and retention of all short and long-term volunteers, to ensure we can continue to deliver life-saving projects for children and young people across Sussex.

Duties of the role
Supporting the charity to deliver brilliant projects and service that support children and their families:
Rockinghorse delivers and funds around 70 projects per year – supporting sick and disabled babies, children, young people and their families in hospitals in Sussex – volunteers are a vital part of our ability to deliver and fund these projects.
This role will:
· Work across the charity team to recruit volunteers with the necessary skills, experience and commitment to support our project delivery, fundraising activities and office work.
· Lead on the co-ordinate the induction and training of volunteers to ensure they are fully onboarded and prepared for the charity, the role and to support our work.
· Set up interviews and initial getting to know you conversations to understand the skills, experience and needs of volunteers to ensure they are matched with the right role in the charity.
· Ensure that volunteers are able to achieve their aspirations in terms of work, education, training or further volunteering during their time with the charity.
· Co-ordinate individual and/or group supervision and support for volunteers.
· Ensure that volunteers involved in the charity’s work have access to relevant training and required policies and procedures to ensure they feel confident and are able to develop the skills needed to carry out their role.
· Ensure that the charity has the right policies and procedures in place for the recruitment, onboarding, retention and management of volunteers.
· Manage a volunteer database inline with relevant data protection legislation and ensure that all volunteers undergo appropriate, recorded, due diligence in their recruitment process.
· Support volunteers to share their experiences as case studies and reflections.
· Coordinated volunteer thank you events, engagement activities and communications to ensure volunteers feel part of the charity and actively participate in our work.
· Work collaboratively with the team and external partners to develop volunteer recruitment pathways for our service delivery projects.
· Create new partnerships with companies, the community and partners to create a flow of volunteers into the charity to support our work.
· Manage the offboarding process for all volunteers, ensuring a brilliant experience for all our volunteers from start to finish.
· Support the Head of Marketing and Communications to create promotional, marketing and supporting materials related to our volunteer programme.
· Lead of the evaluation of the volunteer programme and ensure we understand and value to impact volunteers bring to the charity.
· Reporting on the volunteer function as part of the management information and against set KPIs and targets.
Support the charity more widely:
· Represent Rockinghorse at events, activities and networks, building strong peer relationships and sharing best practice.
· Model excellent conduct and behaviours in line with the charity’s values and ethos.
· Carry out other such duties as may be required for the purposes of the charity; this will include working during evenings and weekends as required and the postholder would be expected to work flexibly to do so.
· There are travel requirements for this post (covering the whole of Sussex) to attend, put on events and meet with our supporters and volunteers.
Person specification
Essential experience, skills and knowledge for the role:

Support Coordinator
This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke. We are looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service, in this home based role.

The Role
The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes. A key part of the role will be to support service users and the delivery of the service.
Reporting to the Stroke Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Support Coordinator will:
• Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.

About the role
In partnership with Gateshead Council, Sustrans is opening an Active Travel Hub at Birtley library. This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans and support people in Gateshead to walk, cycle, and wheel, by providing practical, impactful support.
As the Project Support Officer, you will work with the Project Coordinator and Project Officer to provide support on a variety of projects that promote active travel in communities, workplaces and educational settings. You will also support the recruitment and development of volunteers in the area.
This varied role will see you working in partnership with local authorities, community groups and schools around the region along with volunteers and third-sector organisations to increase walking wheeling and cycling activities and commutes, and increase levels of public health and well-being.
This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.
Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to a nominated hub/office base in Birtley, Gateshead.
About you
You should have some experience of working or volunteering in community or environmental projects, and experience of working with volunteers and in public-facing roles.
Knowledge of engagement techniques and behaviour change initiatives is desirable.

Loneliness is a major issue that is now widely recognised in society today, particularly amongst older people. By scheduling weekly calls from our trained volunteers, Age UK's National Telephone Friendship Service provides older people with a chance to make a new friend from the comfort of their home.
As a Friendship Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating and supporting the thousands of matches between our members and volunteers across the UK. Whether you are answering emails and calls, ensuring safeguarding measures are upheld or supporting members and volunteers through the onboarding processes, you will be helping to ensure this much needed service reaches those who need it most, in a safe and efficient manner.
Utilising your excellent customer service skills, you will be the first port of call to support our volunteers and older members - so you'll need to be comfortable spending a lot of time on the phone and communicating by email. You'll also need to be passionate about supporting older people and have a good understanding of older people's needs.
This role can either be based at our office in Blackpool, or in Ashburton Devon. We offer a hybrid model of home and office based-working, so you will need to be within a reasonable distance of either the Blackpool or Devon office and be willing to travel there regularly.
You will work a 35-hour working week, 5 days out of 7 with start and end times between 8am and 6pm. It will include weekend and bank holiday shifts, which will be arranged on a rota basis.

About the Project & the Role
We work with over 4000 older beneficiaries here at Open Age and just 19% are men. Our Men's Programme seeks to encourage more older men to connect with Open Age and their wider communities by offering dedicated activities, opportunities and support for local men age 50+. Every session is designed to help foster a sense of community and improve mental health & wellbeing.
The Men’s Space at Open Age currently offers weekly sessions including physical activities, social events, and cooking sessions, as well as a range of monthly health & wellbeing workshops and fun trips.

The move on Coordinator is responsible for managing and promoting Look Ahead's move on pathway across the RBKC complex needs service. The post holder will be responsible for sourcing accommodation in the private rented sector - liaising with landlords and sourcing new move on routes for customers.
The Move on Co-ordinator will establish and promote the look ahead - RBKC move on Pathway as a viable move on option to Look Ahead staff, customers and other stake holders such as local authorities and funders. The post holder will directly support new customers to move into their new accommodation and ensure support staff are fully equipped to inform customers about the move on process.
The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of housing and homelessness law. They will be someone who thrives on working under pressure, is a good team player and can demonstrate excellent networking and partnership. They will have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), will be good at using their initiative in researching complex housing cases and able to meet tight deadlines.

What you'll do:
Develop links with private sector landlords and estate agents in order to source private rented stock and promote Look Ahead as a partner organisation.

Attend and complete all relevant documentation for placement review meetings.
Maintain accurate records of service utilisation.
Develop and maintain an information resource to support operational staff in the resettlement of customers. This will include (but not limited to) Local Housing Allowance Rates, Partner Landlord and Estate Agency details and Rent Deposit Schemes. Act as the main point of contact for information and resources on the private rented sector.
Actively promote the look ahead - RBKC move on Pathway option. Assist operational staff to identify customers ready to access this option.
Support a caseload of clients that are progressing toward move on.

Purpose of the Job
Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind deliver services in West London College through our Wellbeing Team. Working with all ages attending college in either Hammersmith and Fulham or Ealing, the wellbeing advisor will be an integral part of the Children and Young People’s Service within a key Mental Health Charity working in 3 boroughs in West London.

Key Responsibilities
- To provide practical mental health focused short-term case work to young people, through 1:1 face to face appointments
