Direct Marketing Manager-Acquisition at the Disasters Emergency Committee delivers key direct marketing activities during appeals for major disasters. You will work with the Direct Marketing Manager-Retention to deliver a programme of supporter communications to feedback to donors on the impact of their donations and to retain their future support.
The purpose of the role is to:
- Contribute to and develop DEC direct marketing strategies,
- Implement the direct marketing strategies during each appeal with income maximisation and supporter acquisition as the key focus,
- Manage the capturing and analysis of results to ensure channel optimisation between appeals,
- Lead the benchmarking process of DEC Member Agency fundraising performance.
The role will deliver responsibilities for strategy and planning, fundraising, networking and building relationships.
You must have strong direct marketing experience with a focus on high volume donor acquisition. Demonstrable knowledge of offline marketing techniques in press, outdoor, direct mail and telephone. A proven track record of developing effective digital and direct marketing strategies, which resulted in significant growth of income. Experience of managing complex budgets and proven ability to manage a complex operational plan within very short timeframes and within budget.
Ideally you will have experience of working in the international humanitarian aid sector, have used Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Google analytics.
You must have excellent communication skills both written and spoken, with the ability to write compelling and emotive fundraising copy. Significant technical marketing expertise across a range of direct marketing channels. Excellent numeracy, budget development, planning and project management skills.
An ability to work under extreme pressure during appeals and to very tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail is a key driver for success in this role.
You will join a collaborative team, department and organisation that excels in maximising their fundraising effort in response to disasters and keeps donors and recipients of funds updated and engaged throughout and beyond the journey of an appeal.

What you will be doing
The Director of Fundraising will be a key member of our executive team reporting directly to the Secretary General. As our first Director of Fundraising, you will have the opportunity to build and develop your own team to help you deliver the fundraising strategy.
In taking forward the strategy, you will identify and articulate areas for support, research relevant funding potential and secure income through the development and execution of both the short and long-term fundraising strategy across the funding spectrum. You will have the confidence and experience to help us to deliver a longer-term strategic approach to continued fundraising, based on organisational and business objectives.
With our donor’s generous gift, we aim to build a thriving, major gifts programme which builds capacity and delivers a significant return on our donor’s investment. It is our aim to raise £15million over the next 4 years.
You will be responsible for building a fundraising team and leading fundraising in all areas, from major gifts relationships, completing complex bids to grant-making Trusts and Foundations and managing and utilising the skills of the Trustees and wider St John network.
You will build and maintain a network of supporters. This will require both organisational and bid-writing skills, as well as the ability to represent us, our work and all that we stand for in negotiations with partners, sponsors and major donors around the world.
1. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB
The Director of Fundraising will lead the continued development, co-ordination and delivery of our new fundraising strategy, to build and maintain philanthropic income.
The post holder will work under the direction of the Secretary General and Trustees to:
1. Deliver our new Fundraising Strategy which has been prepared, maximising resources through major donors, trusts and foundations, individual giving, corporates and legacies throughout the world.
2. Build a new fundraising team.
3. Act as an advocate and ambassador for the charity, building and prospecting new relationships with supporters, stakeholders and donors.
4. Work with colleagues to articulate and promote the charity’s unique message.
5. Mobilise potential supporters and advocates within our St John Family.
2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Work with the St John International team and trustees to deliver the innovative and varied fundraising strategy.
b) Create and manage fundraising: major donors, trusts and foundations, corporates, and legacies across the organisation.
c) Monitor, collect and manage information on relevant sources of funding, including public and charitable funds, commissioning and procurement, and emerging opportunities for income generation.
d) Develop, implement and oversee quality control, evaluation and reporting procedures to ensure a high standard of bid submission, monitoring and reporting at all times.
e) Build relationships with major donors and maintain good stewardship of donors and funders. We expect our contributor base to include international donors, and not just those who may be UK-based.
f) Research and write high quality grant applications and proposals for support.
g) Develop, pitch and manage sponsorship proposals and presentations.
h) Work with colleagues to embed opportunities for fundraising and fundraising events through other areas of the charity’s work.
i) Attend networking events, prepare groundwork and establish connections to engage potential donors and develop opportunities.
j) Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the trustee board.
k) Identify opportunities to collaborate with global partners to secure additional efficiencies, benefits or increased resources, including the potential for joint fundraising approaches.
l) Ensure that appropriate health & safety standards are met for fundraising events, including the production of risk assessments and event plans.
m) Ensure the fundraising office adheres to all required fundraising regulations in the UK.

As Deputy Fundraising Director, Public Fundraising, you will:
- Be responsible for a public fundraising income portfolio of c. £20m p.a. across recruitment, retention and development income streams, with shared accountability for a fundraising income budget of £35m
- Lead the development and implementation of a strategy and plans for public fundraising, aligned with Greenpeace UK’s new 3-year organisational and fundraising strategies and objectives
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to a team of 29, with 4 direct reports
- Lead the team in the planning, implementation and evaluation of a multichannel public fundraising programme designed to recruit, develop and retain supporters to maximise their lifetime value through tailored supporter journeys and outstanding supporter experience
- Oversee the development of detailed financial forecasts, scenarios and budgets for the public fundraising portfolio to underpin fundraising strategies and investment opportunities
- Play an active role in fostering a positive, inclusive and collaborative department culture, role modelling working to shared objectives, celebrating success and learning from setbacks and failures
Ideal skills and experience:
- Experience of fundraising/marketing to individuals at scale, with a proven track record of recruiting and retaining new supporters, members or customers in the tens of thousands and generating 7-8 figure revenue/income across multiple income streams
- A track record of planning, forecasting and budgeting, including developing investment cases and modelling income, return on investment and lifetime value over short, mid and long term horizons to drive decision-making and investment choices
- Demonstrable experience of leading, managing, motivating and inspiring high performing multi-disciplinary teams including managing managers, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture
- Experience of developing, implementing, and adapting fundraising strategies that meet long-term financial objectives
- Proven ability to use data, analytics, and insights to drive decision- making, optimise fundraising performance, and improve supporter recruitment, retention and engagement
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism, with a willingness to continually learn and foster a positive and inclusive culture

About the Role
The Corporate Partnerships Manager is responsible for leading on the acquisition and development of new corporate partners with the intention of driving sales, year-on-year revenue growth and profitability, across the corporate partnership’s portfolio.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Partnerships, this role focuses on securing revenue from leading organisations, both in the UK and internationally, and supports the successful delivery of corporate sponsorship activities, working with colleagues across the RIBA.
This role includes targeting, engaging and developing business with potential clients in our business category. These include, software providers, accountants, lawyers, banks, property companies, developers and built environment consultants.
You will be required to
- Actively seek, secure and maintain new long-term commercially viable corporate partnership sales opportunities through networking, direct targeting and via business related social media
- Develop a pipeline of corporate partner prospects in line with the business strategies, goals and objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with potential corporate partners, through securing and leading new business meetings
- Provide first point of contact and dedicated account management for corporate partners dealing with any queries or new requirements that may arise
- Monitor and manage corporate partner feedback to support development and client service improvement initiatives
- Oversight of corporate partnership accounts ensuring delivery of all agreed terms and requirements, while enabling sponsors’ objectives are met
- Attend client meetings and internal stakeholder and management meetings as the representative of the Corporate Partnerships team
- Attend events to ensure corporate partners’ requirements are successfully delivered, in line with contracted objectives and goals
Working with the Head of Corporate Partnerships
- Develop strategies for evolving and growing corporate partnerships, employing market intelligence to identify opportunities and assess the current market conditions
- Investigate ways to diversify our corporate partnership base and implement strategies to extend and grow our revenue streams
- Devise and implement strategies to increase revenue year-on-year across the RIBA awards, exhibitions, conferences and RIBAJ ‘special projects

What are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years’ experience in a membership, media or an events organisation or charity. We are looking for an innovative individual with:
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational skills and written and verbal communication.
- A strong work ethic
- An ability to prioritise multiple projects simultaneously
- A knowledge of the architecture and construction industry would be an asset, though not essential.
- Proficient in all MS Office applications

The Role
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Role Purpose
The Social Media Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing Dialogue Earth’s digital presence by implementing a dynamic and evolving social media strategy. Working closely with the Social Media Content Creator and international team members, the post-holder will ensure content is disseminated effectively across various platforms, with a strong focus on audience engagement and alignment with audience personas. They will also be responsible for developing campaigns, overseeing social media analytics, and presenting insights in engaging ways to support the organisation’s mission of promoting awareness and dialogue on environmental and climate change issues.
Main Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Social Media Content Creator to develop and implement Dialogue Earth’s evolving global social media strategy.
- Work with Dialogue Earth’s editorial teams in the UK, China, South Asia, Latin America, and Southeast Asia to promote content effectively and innovatively on platforms, including Bluesky, X, WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others as needed.
- Oversee and guide the work of the part-time Social Media Officer in Southeast Asia by providing task management and feedback.
- In partnership with the Social Media Content Creator, develop and manage campaigns, such as thematic weeks and awareness initiatives.
- Collaborate with the editorial and social media teams to produce audience-centric social media content, ensuring alignment with established audience personas and continuously improving dissemination strategies.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report social media performance through streamlined analytics processes, making stats accessible and engaging for the broader team.

Further Information and Benefits
- Salary: £36,035.70 per annum.
- Working Hours: 32 hours per week from 9am-6pm. We offer a four-day working week, with full-time pay.
- Contract Type: 12 months, with a view to renewal.
- Hybrid Working: Staff must attend the office at least two days per week. Attendance is mandatory on Tuesdays and staff can choose which other day(s) they attend.
- Pension: Defined contribution pension plan, with 5% employer contribution, 4% employee contribution, and 1% tax relief contribution into an ethically conscious pension plan.

Surgical intervention could address at least 30% of the global burden of disease, and yet the poorest 33% of people receive just 3.5% of all surgery. Post-operative mortality rates 1,000 times higher than in some high-income countries can be found in parts of the world where surgery and anaesthesia have been neglected, and in some countries as many as 90% of anaesthetic departments do not have the equipment to provide a safe anaesthetic for a child.

In your role of Communications Officer, you will contribute to the delivery of WFSA’s objectives by helping to implement advocacy and communications strategies.
You will report to the Head of Advocacy & Communications and liaise regularly with the rest of the small staff team in the Secretariat. Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people affected by pulmonary fibrosis. This role is critical for maintaining our compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, overseeing risk management, and embedding efficient operational structures. In addition, you will help foster a culture of high-quality supporter care and lead on continuous improvement to strengthen internal processes and staff development.
Terms of Appointment
Working hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (minimum 30 hours per week).
