This role is a core part of Pecan’s senior leadership team (SLT), working to develop strategic direction and playing a play a key role in the organisation’s aim to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.

You will enable Pecan’s frontline team to deliver the highest possible standards of service.  You will have responsibility for Employment Support, Southwark & Lewisham Women’s Service and Together community projects. This role also oversees Marketing & Communications and Partnerships. It will work closely with the Fundraising Manager and is the Safeguarding Lead and the Equalities Lead

Main Responsibilities:

• To play a significant role in the pastoral care and wellbeing of staff and volunteers ensuring they feel supported and safe at work and have access to wellbeing support
• To develop and deliver services supporting women affected by the criminal justice system and for local women seeking support, information and community.
• To develop and deliver contracted services to enable people to gain employment.
• Expand the offer to reduce isolation and increase community cohesion as well as tackle some of the barriers facing people.

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London’s leading food redistribution charity, dedicated to ensuring good food is never wasted and no one goes hungry. Last year, our nearly 180 staff and over 15,000 volunteers collected 32 million meals of surplus food, distributing it to Londoners in need through a network of over 1,100 community organisations, charities, and schools.

In London, one in five households with children lack reliable access to nutritious food, while the UK wastes 20 tonnes of food per second. The cost of living in London has risen by 24% in the last three years, and food prices continue to climb. About 14% of working families have turned to food support services for the first time in the past year, and 100,000 London families have less than £3 a day for food.

Our work has never been more needed, and demand continues to grow: we are building our expertise and impact in response. The Felix Project now operates from four main depots in North, South, East, and West London, with ‘point-to-point’ projects in Central London and Canary Wharf. The East London depot has a kitchen producing up to 5,000 meals per day from surplus food. A new 'Multibank' in Ealing distributes non-food essentials.

Purpose of the Job:
Based in one of our operational warehouses you will help support Felix’s missions through the development of a network of charities, community groups and other key stakeholders involved supporting vulnerable Londoners across London. Your work will help to build the network’s capacity to accept and distribute food through our depot operations, Green Scheme & Felix Connect and non-food items through Felix’s Multibank. 

The Community Coordinator role will support the depot and operational teams, responding to enquiries from the community network to help ensure the smooth flow of food and non-food items whilst delivering excellent customer service. This will include ensuring recipients of our food are compliant with all relevant legislation and guidance as required by our food partners and food business operators. 

Your work will help us to effectively monitor and evaluate our growth against our strategic objectives through robust data collection, monitoring and updating using our CRM system.

• To ensure there is a weekly, monthly and seasonal horticulture plan in place (created in partnership with the Support Workers) which reflects the resources needed for client activities, product sales development and events
• To advise and support the Skills and Activities Coordinator in developing practical skills and/or qualification for people/groups using and supporting the sites development to encourage independence and empowerment
• To mentor and coach those using the sites services to lead and shape the sites programme of development as a sustainable community space and social enterprise.
• Work one Saturday per month, as agreed with the Service Development Manager, to open the nursery to volunteer project gardeners, and as a produce sale point to the local community

The Governance team are seeking a brilliantly organised and enthusiastic self-starter to make a significant contribution to the College’s involvement in global activities. Alongside a focus on supporting planning activities, the Global and Devolved Nations Coordinator will help coordinate staff and doctors attending national and global events, liaise with our overseas partners and arrange member gatherings. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively with external customers across time zones, colleagues and senior members.

They will also have first rate administrative and organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload. What you will do:

Your role will be primarily responsible for the smooth running of administrative and operational functions of the Retail Voluntary Services across Helen & Douglas House. We are looking for a qualified Nurse to work as an Admission and Discharge Coordinator Nurse in the Hospice based multi-disciplinary Specialist Palliative Care In Patient Unit. The purpose of the role is to ensure a smooth transition for patients as they arrive and when they are discharged from the In-Patient Unit. You will work alongside the Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide holistic, person-centred care and support.

About Mental Health Innovations (MHI)

Founded in November 2017 following the success of The Royal Foundation’s ‘Heads Together’ campaign, it launched its first product, Shout, in 2019. Shout is a free, confidential, 24/7 text message service for anybody to text when they may be struggling with anxiety, loneliness or depression through to self harm or suicidal thoughts.

Job Purpose:

To support the recruitment and admission of new volunteers, promoting volunteering opportunities and completing background checks.

Key Responsibilities 

• Ask for and check references for new volunteers
• Coordinate and attend volunteer recruitment events, such as Universities; organise volunteers and staff to support
• Follow up with prospective volunteers to encourage them to apply
• Work with the Communications team to promote volunteering opportunities online
• Coordinate and run regular information sessions for prospective volunteers to explain the volunteering opportunities
• Initiate contact with volunteers and trainees to process DBS/PVG/police vetting checks as required
• Check the status of volunteers who are part of the relevant Update Service
• Proactively monitor and follow up on the progress of checks to keep on top of weekly targets
• Coordinate video calls to verify ID documents, checking documents with utmost attention to detail
• Handle queries on checks, and troubleshoot cases such as missing documentation or anything outside the accepted DBS/PVG/police vetting procedure
• Liaise with our selected external provider for any queries 
• Escalate disclosures to a panel for review, if required
• Accurately update outcome information for each volunteer
• Ensure the confidentiality of volunteer information is maintained and securely discard volunteer documentation once checks are complete 
• Utilise tools such as Jira, Salesforce and effectively
• Provide regular progress reports to the Volunteer Admissions Lead and Head of Volunteers
• Undertake other ad-hoc tasks commensurate with the role as necessary

When someone sustains a spinal cord injury, it is a life changing experience.

Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, major trauma centres and hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.

We are looking for a creative written communicator with an excellent eye for detail to tell the story of The Listening Place, our volunteers and our visitors.

The Listening Place offers free, confidential, face-to-face support for people feeling suicidal, provided by highly trained volunteers using active listening skills. Over eight years, the charity has grown rapidly, with now over 800 volunteers delivering up to 150 appointments daily across three sites. TLP receives 750 new referrals every month and will provide support to 8000 people struggling with suicidal feelings this year. This growth, achieved without waiting lists, highlights how TLP balances ambition with a commitment to high-quality, person-centered support. With plans to expand to East London and strong donor and media interest, it’s an exciting time to join this effective, community-led service.

This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for giving TLP a voice across external and internal communications. Through dependable, precise and creative communications, you will help TLP meet its three key communication objectives:

• To inspire and retain volunteers and supporters.
• To influence public and stakeholder opinion on how to deliver effective suicide prevention services.
• To help recruit new volunteers.

All your copy should be clear, concise and help deliver against one of these key objectives.

We are seeking an individual with an excellent eye for detail who is a self-starter, able to seek out stories and respond to opportunities as and when they arise. This means over the course of a day you could be covering an event, interviewing a volunteer, setting up targeted paid adverts or responding to messages from supporters.

Your success will be judged on your ability to deliver all communications with a meticulous attention for detail and a clear understanding of TLP’s voice.

Core Responsibilities:

The Communications Coordinator will:

Working under the direction of the Head of Fundraising and Communications, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the development, delivery, analysis and growth of TLP’s communications through effective copy for internal and external stakeholders. This includes:

• Leading on day-to-day account management and content creation for organic and paid activity on TLP social media channels.
• Planning and executing activities for national campaigns including World Suicide Prevention Day and Mental Health Week.
• Working with and supporting teams from across the organisation to execute engaging internal and external communications and digital campaigns including monthly volunteer and supporter newsletters.
• To act as a point of contact for teams for communications related queries, maintaining a good understanding of approaches, channels and technologies in order to do this.
• Recognise, mitigate and appropriately escalate communications related incidents and risks including reputation management, information governance and sensitivity issues.
• Regularly reviewing website content, looking for ways to constantly improve user experience.
• Compiling regular monthly statistics and analytical reports, evaluating our online performance against agreed metrics.
• Ensure all records are held in compliance with GDPR and the Institute of Fundraising policies.

Reporting line

The Digital Communications Officer will report to the Head of Fundraising and Communications.

Salary: £17,955 per annum (£29,255 FTE) at 3 days a week plus benefits (3% employer contribution towards pension, 25 days annual leave (FTE) per annum (plus public holidays), Employee Assistance Programme, access to Medicash health insurance and critical illness cover.)
