This role sits within the Community Education and Training team, working to support our learners to access, complete and progress through our wide range of adult learning provision. The main focus will be on providing additional support for learners who need wrap-around support relating to a range of additional personal and educational needs. This could include welfare, personal and family support and wider mental health and wellbeing support or additional learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, literacy support and other needs.
You will work with the team to implement strategies and support plans for individuals to aid learning and enhance educational experience. You will support the team’s administrator to monitor learner’s attendance, contacting them via phone, email or arranging a meeting in person where pastoral support is needed.
You will work with our Adult Safeguarding Lead to support safeguarding cases across our departments, including keeping safeguarding records, making referrals and building a database of local support services available to learners and other service users.
We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting learners to ensure they have the best opportunity to thrive on their learning journey.
You will also support wider functions in the team such as contributing to the organisation of our termly learners’ forum to celebrate achievement and attending events in the community to publicise our work.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with vulnerable individuals or groups, be committed to safeguarding, have excellent administration skills, be flexible and excited about being at the heart of a busy team and committed to providing an excellent service to High Trees’ users.

As a charity, we advocate for the key role of statistics and data in society and work to ensure that policy formulation and decision-making are informed by evidence for the public good. Members work with RSS staff to support areas such as policy development, education, training, statistical communication, and statistical literacy.
The Director of Professional Services is responsible for our professional affairs activities, overseeing the creation, maintenance and application of relevant standards through our professional affairs committee, and certification and accreditation schemes. They are also responsible for member recruitment and management, ensuring we continue to attract new RSS members and partners, and that their needs are met. They also oversee a range of activities that engage RSS members (including groups that bring members together on a topic or geographical basis, RSS honours and awards, and our volunteering opportunities), securing both our impact on society and member retention.
Informed by an in-depth understanding of the needs of members and prospective members, the Director manages these activities strategically across the organisation, bringing relevant staff together within small teams working on defined goals that support our objectives, foster a sense of value and community for all members and ultimately lead to the growth in membership and impact of the Society.

About the Role
We’re excited to be recruiting a Service Director to lead Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice. Reporting to the COO, this role is crucial in shaping the future of our inpatient and community services.
As Service Director, you'll be responsible for creating and delivering a strategic plan that will enable Sue Ryder’s vision to create a society where people support one another and can reach out for support and access
a range of services and advice when they need it. You’ll work closely with commissioners and providers across the Integrated Care System (ICS) to grow and develop our services, ensuring patients and their families receive the best possible care. A key part of your role will also be to increase statutory income, helping to secure the financial stability of our services.
Leading and motivating your team will be central to your success, as you’ll foster a high-performing, inclusive culture that prioritises quality, safety, and effectiveness, focused on patient need.
As an ambassador for the hospice and our charity, you’ll also play an important part in our fundraising and PR efforts, helping to raise awareness of and support for the work we do.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record of managing large healthcare operations, and successfully growing services in both size and scope. A solid understanding of the hospice sector, including the key factors that shape care and service delivery, and familiarity with NHS commissioning, will be key.
