Duties and key responsibilities

1. Trusts and Foundations 

• Act as the main point of contact for trusts and foundations supporting gifts under £10,000, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate support, materials, and updates to foster successful grant applications and long-term relationships.
• Identify and research new trusts and foundations whose funding priorities align with Sarcoma UK’s mission.
• Plan and coordinate the schedule of grant applications aligning with internal priorities and submission deadlines.
• Draft compelling grant applications, ensuring high-quality submissions, and coordinate the process of application tracking and reporting.
• Maintain the existing pipeline of trust fundraising activities in Raiser's Edge, monitoring progress and ensuring follow-up actions are taken.
• Cultivate and strengthen relationships with new and existing trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Trusts and Foundations fundraising strategy.
• Work with the Research, Policy, and Support Services teams to arrange meetings between trust representatives and Sarcoma UK funded project leads, where appropriate.
• Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure that trust and foundation-related web pages are up-to-date and engaging.

2. Fundraising Support

Merchandise

• Manage stock by overseeing merchandise stock levels, liaising with suppliers, processing orders, and ensuring smooth fulfilment of orders.
• Manage Sarcoma UK’s online shop, ensuring it is regularly updated with accurate product listings and that orders are processed efficiently, meeting supporter expectations.

Administrative Support

• Provide general administrative support across all fundraising activities and projects as needed by the organisation.
• Produce regular reports on fundraising activities, including data from JustGiving, Enthuse, and GoFundMe, ensuring accurate tracking and evaluation.
• Contribute to the smooth running of the organisation, assisting with general administrative tasks and ensuring processes are followed consistently.
• Monitor, evaluate and analyse fundraising activities, providing insights to inform future strategies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on Sarcoma UK’s fundraising database (Raiser's Edge). 

Supporter Care

• Respond promptly and professionally to fundraising inquiries via post, email, and phone, offering support and guidance to donors and fundraisers.

General Fundraising Support

• Collaborate with the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to identify new prospects within Sarcoma UK’s supporter community.
• Work with the Communications team to identify and maximise publicity opportunities, raising awareness of Sarcoma UK’s fundraising efforts.
• Provide occasional support for Major Donor fundraising activities as needed.
• Stay up to date with the latest fundraising practices and trends ensuring Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures align with best practices.

3. Other Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with Sarcoma UK’s existing and potential supporters, including contacts within trusts and foundations.
• The role may require occasional travel to events and meetings across the UK, including some evening or weekend work, for which Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) will be provided.
• Adapt to the evolving needs of Sarcoma UK, taking on additional duties and responsibilities as required.

The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled, experienced, and driven Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and development. You will review our financial procedures and processes and where appropriate recommend and implement change and improvements. You will lead our two-person finance team, part of core services, which provides HR, IT, facilities, and marketing support for the company.

What you will be doing

• Delivery of accurate and timely financial information for the company including preparation of monthly reports as required.
• Support the CEO and Executive on strategic development through the provision of performance insights on financial and delivery metrics and management accounts, liaising with external accountants, as appropriate.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our small and dynamic but expanding fundraising and communications team during an exciting period of growth for the organisation. We’re looking for an Operations and Services Manager who is passionate about supporting effective, high-quality service delivery within a charitable organisation. This is a senior role within our organisation so you will have a strong background in administrative and operational management, with experience in a client-focused environment. Your approach will be hands-on, and you’ll bring a positive attitude to overseeing day-to-day operations and managing a dedicated team of support staff and a small pool of reception volunteers.

The Women’s Recovery Service is a dedicated 22-bed accommodation designed to provide a safe, psychologically informed space for women with complex needs. Our mission is to support recovery and empower our clients by offering a nurturing environment that addresses the unique challenges faced by women experiencing multiple disadvantages.

About the role:

As the Team Manager, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting our frontline staff, ensuring the highest standards of trauma-informed, recovery-focused care for our residents. This position requires a balance of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups. Working closely with the Service Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day guidance and strategic support, maintaining SHP’s standards and fulfilling contractual requirements.

In this role, you’ll deputise for the Service Manager when needed, sharing responsibility for delivering compassionate, effective support that empowers women on their journey to recovery. A high-level understanding of the issues faced by women affected with homelessness, substance misuse, and the effects of complex trauma—including violence against women and girls (VAWG)—is essential. You will engage with clients across the spectrum of recovery, from those in pre-contemplation stages to those who are committed to positive change.

This role requires a strong commitment to making a meaningful impact, combining strategic oversight with empathetic, hands-on leadership to drive effective service delivery.

About you:

• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of complex issues effecting women including DV, VAWG, Mental Health, Women’s Health and Substance Misuse.
• Experience of, or a strong awareness and understanding of staff and service management and the ability to lead, motivate and develop the skills of both staff and service users, and to motivate and manage a quality service committed to achieving excellence.

We have 12 years’ experience delivering 1:1 tuition, working with schools and Local Authority partners across the country, reaching hundreds of pupils annually. 

As a member of the Fair Education Alliance, we believe in providing meaningful educational provision to students whose needs may not be best met within a traditional classroom environment, those who aren’t currently accessing education, or who benefit from additional 1:1 support. We work with over 200 qualified teachers to provide academic, subject specialised and individual tutoring and mentoring for children of all ages. Tutors provide pastoral care and work with pupils to increase engagement and attainment. What is the Role?

The Partnerships Account Manager will drive business growth by securing new partnerships and managing key client accounts across designated regions.    • Provide oversight to ensure that administrative tasks are completed efficiently, supporting smooth client interactions and consistent follow-through.

   • Foster a strong working relationship between bid writers and recruitment to ensure we can find tutors and go for the right bids. 

5. Bid Management and Process Improvement

   • Oversee the preparation and submission of tenders and bids, working closely with administrators to ensure high-quality and timely submissions.

   • Continuously review and improve internal processes to optimise bid management, client onboarding, and service delivery.

   • Report on bid submission performance, review client feedback to continuously improve. 

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Detailed knowledge of the UK Education Sector.

• Proven track record in client relationship management, with experience in sales or partnership development roles.

• Strong communication skills, particularly in face-to-face and telephone interactions, with the ability to build rapport quickly and maintain long-lasting relationships.

• Experience managing a small team, providing leadership, direction, and support to ensure high-performance standards.

• High level of empathy and commitment to supporting vulnerable and underserved communities.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet both short- and long-term deadlines effectively.

• Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) for tracking client data, leads, and progress.

Person Specification

AKF(UK) Partnerships Managers are part of the Global Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) Partnerships team tasked with identifying and cultivating new funding partnerships and strengthening existing ones to support our strategic goals. They engage with European and Asian government, foundation, and corporate donors to mobilise resources for ten multisector profit and not-for-profit agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) operating across Asia and Africa. 4.1 Securing resources

• Coordinate, facilitate, and lead the development, review, and quality assurance of expressions of interest, concept notes and full proposals for funding opportunities;
• Liaise and coordinate with internal stakeholders as well as with donors, partners, and consortia to facilitate project design, align proposal and donor requirements, gather required legal and administrative documentation, and draft sections of proposals as needed;
• Coordinate processes of contracting and negotiation, engaging relevant stakeholders, and ensuring contracts ‘get over the line’ in a timely and efficient way;

4.2 Grant management

• Manage and monitor a portfolio of grants through regular interface and coordination with AKF(UK)’s partnerships team, AKF(UK)’s finance team and relevant AKF/AKDN agencies/field units, acting as a central resource for field units in donor best practice;
• Interface with donors and communicate on a regular basis about the implementation of on-going grants to ensure strong, enduring relationships;
• Ensure strong relationship cultivation throughout the grants cycle, anticipate, and plan for future funding and project extensions;
• Oversight, coordination, review, and quality assurance of donor deliverables (e.g. work plans, monitoring and evaluation plans, staffing plans, budgets, close-out plans, donor troubleshooting);
• Ensure adherence with donor requirements, rules, and regulations, and that grant deliverables are produced on time and to a high standard;
• Coordinate contractual amendments, changes, and project adaptations, engage with donors in a pro-active and diplomatic way, and flag potential changes (e.g. budget revisions, extensions, risks) in advance to ‘trouble shoot’ and ensure smooth project implementation;
• Facilitate grant monitoring efforts including routine coordination meetings, donor steering committees, donor project visits, and donor monitoring missions;
• Undertake coordination and administrative tasks related to grants and support the maintenance and update of grant management tools and tracking systems such as AIMS.

4.3 Donor engagement and positioning

• Support the partnership unit in researching, sourcing relevant information, and performing analysis of market trends on new donors, peer organisations, and funding opportunities to identify potential funding and partnering matches for AKF and AKDN priorities;
• Work with country teams, AKDN agencies, and the Global Programmes Team (GPT) to identify, build, and support strategic partnerships on aligned global and regional initiatives, innovations and themes with likeminded donors and partners;
• Develop positioning materials (e.g. presentations, capability statements, briefs, talking points), collaborating with communications teams, to enable effective donor engagement;
• Engage with new and existing donors and partners to identify solicited and unsolicited funding opportunities;
• Guide teams to make informed, effective decisions on which opportunities to pursue (including ‘Go No-Go’ requests);
• Identify, cultivate, and pre-position with partner organisations to form or join consortia focused funding bids;
• Conduct due diligence on new partners in coordination with finance and partnerships teams.

4.4 Influencing development and communicating practical lessons and results

• Support the influencing of the development sector by convening and participating at events (e.g. conferences, roundtables, policy forums) to share lessons, innovations and knowledge about our programmes that position us as ‘thought leaders’;
• Engage communications teams to identify opportunities and support the development of content (e.g. social media campaigns, videos) that promote AKF and AKDN’s work and position us as ‘partners of choice’ in the sector. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Deputy Regional Director of Partnerships or Regional Director of Partnerships.

About the Team

The Programme Management Team, where the Senior Programme Manager (SPM) role sits, is part of the Programme Partnership department, which objective is to increase the quality of Save the Children's work through the design and delivery of impactful programmes and partnerships, strengthening the Movement, and empowering Country Offices (CO).

The Programme Management Team provides support to Save the Children country programmes in the quality management of programmes funded via Save the Children UK (SCUK). The team provides both a second-line quality assurance function, whilst aiming to strengthen the capacity of in-country teams in the effective management of SCUK's portfolio. The team operates as Save the Children UK's programmatic and geographic experts, providing advice and insight to the wider organisation on country contextual issues and maintaining strong relations with country and regional counterparts as well as our institutional, corporate and philanthropy donors.

About the role

The Senior Programme Manager (SPM) primary focus is to oversee the quality management of programmes and related awards (grants & contracts) that are part of a portfolio covering several COs or donors. The portfolio under the SPM's overall responsibility is a sub-set within our Western and Central Africa team.  

This role involves both direct management of programmes and related awards implemented in specific country programmes or supported by particular corporate & philanthropy donor(s); and providing direction, support and technical advice to Programme Managers (PMs) working in the same portfolio sub-set. The SPM works with wide autonomy and decision-making capacity, both within their directly management portfolio as well as the portfolio sub-set, with regards to portfolio's risks, issues, and workload management.

Being responsible for several COs or corporate & philanthropy donors, the SPM plays a key role, and works very closely with the Programme Management Lead in the effective development and implementation of regional and partnership strategies; in identifying and addressing systemic risks and issues; in improving and creating new internal processes; and in ensuring the capacity building and professional development of PMs

In this role, you will: 

Support to quality & impactful programming in Country Offices

• Develop strong a knowledge of in-country context and current issues, as well as of Save the Children's key programmatic themes and priorities, for the countries or programmes under their directly managed portfolio. Provide input to the Programme Management Lead and influencing SCUK funding strategies for the countries or programmes under their portfolio.
• Act as the point of reference within SCUK for any matter or question regarding the countries or programmes under their responsibility. Liaise with other SCUK teams on relevant areas of concern, particularly fostering close collaboration with staff in P&P, PQI, HD, Media and Communication and PAC.
• Contribute to the growth of COs funding portfolio and facilitate this is in line with their Country Strategic Plans (CSPs), by leading and working closely with the other teams in PP Strengthen and build capacities of CO staff, in coordination with the relevant SCI  teams, particularly around quality programming and funding management and donor compliance.
• Develop a strong knowledge of donor's priorities and interests in the country(ies) under their responsibility. Develop and maintain relevant donor relationships, serving as the focal point for HQ-level donor staff, for the countries or programmes under their directly managed portfolio.

Lead business development, award management and donor compliance assurance

• Monitor and oversight of all SCUK-supported programmes for the countries or programmes under their directly managed portfolio, including identifying related risks and managing issues.
• Grant and contract management, from point of contract negotiation and signature, to quality assurance during implementation, and working with other SCUK departments to support reporting. Ensure awards in the portfolio are compliant with donor requirements and SC quality standards
• Provide support to COs in meeting key programme deliverables, as well as other donor expectations.
• Ensure relevant quality assurance processes are completed so that programmes are running effectively and on time.
• Identify new funding opportunities, as follow-on from existing awards and/or as part of the day-to-day interaction with donors. Provide input in or lead on bid management for SCUK institutional and non-institutional proposals
• Direct representation role with counterparts in SCUK, donor organisations, partner and NGO networks in relation to awards portfolio and pipeline.

Funding portfolio sub-set oversight

• Provide oversight, support and prioritisation for the management of the portfolio sub-set under their responsibility, acting as first point of senior advice and decision-making on complex issues, involving medium to low risk, brought forward by the PMs working in the same portfolio sub-set.
• Monitor risks and issues developments within the portfolio sub-set, making sure that the Programme Management Lead and PP senior management are aware and fully briefed of issues requiring major strategic decisions.
• Approve and sign-off opportunities and documents, as per delegated authority, within the portfolio sub-set.
• Provide input to the Programme Management Lead and ROs in resource mobilisation strategies for COs and donors within the portfolio sub-set, making sure that agreed priorities are implemented by PMs, as well as other teams, working in the portfolio sub-set.
• Monitor KPIs and other data related to programme and funding management, providing analysis to relevant stakeholders.

People management

• Provide effective and timely day-to-day support and manage workload for PMs working in the portfolio sub-set under the SPM's responsibility (‘work management'), as part of matrix management with the Programme Management Lead. Contribute to setting annual objectives and priorities and provide input in annual reviews.

About you

It is important that you have:

• Extensive experience in project and grant/contract management, with knowledge of institutional donor compliance requirements
• Extensive experience working with institutional donors such as FCDO, UN and multilateral agencies (e.g. UNICEF, OCHA, World Bank), particularly on proposal development and report writing.
• Experience in Payment by Result and/or Outcome based contracts an asset.
• Significant experience of working in the international aid sector, including in overseas roles, with practical experience and understanding of related contextual and operational issues. Good working knowledge of one or more countries supported by SCUK

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree level, or holds professional qualification relevant to the role (essential)
• Management, HR or Fundraising qualification (desirable)

Experience and knowledge

• Demonstrable experience of management roles at a senior level (essential), preferably in the mental health sector or charities
• Proven experience of fundraising from trusts and other grant making bodies leading to income growth (essential)
• Proven experience of partnership working with external organisations (essential)
• Experience of working in small organisations (essential)
• Experience of working with volunteers (essential)
• Experience of managing budgets, funding and finances (essential)
• Proven record in line management (essential)
• A strong interest in mental health issues and commitment to offering psychotherapy and wellbeing services (essential)
• Experience of building management, health and safety or operational compliance (desirable)
• Understanding of current HR requirements and national policy (desirable)
• Experience of working with, and reporting to, a Board of Trustees (desirable)
• Knowledge of the mental health and wider social service sector (desirable)
