About us

Who we are

At FareShare we are fighting hunger by tackling food waste - we rescue good food for frontline charities

We save food & change lives

Good food destined for waste is saved and send to charities & community groups who transform it into nutritious meals  for vulnerable people. The food we redistribute is fresh, quality and in date surplus from the food industry and the charities we work with can be found across the UK.

More than meals

Last year we redistributed enough food for 15.3 million meals. But it’s about more than meals. The organisations we supply food to – from breakfast clubs for disadvantaged children, to homeless hostels, community cafes and domestic violence refuges – are places that provide life changing support, as well as lunch and dinner.

By making sure good food is not wasted, we turn an environmental problem into a social solution.

A global movement

As a member of both the  European Federation of Food Banks and The Global FoodBanking Network, weare part of a global movement working to alleviate hunger by capturing surplus food and delivering it to the people who need it.

.

Our culture and values

FareShare is the UK’s longest running food redistribution charity. We were born out of the belief that no good food should go to waste, especially when people are going hungry. This belief is as central to our work now as it was 25 years ago.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

At Fareshare UK, we firmly believe that a diverse and inclusive community is not only desirable but essential to fulfilling our mission of combatting food waste.

Our commitment is resolute: we aspire to build communities where every individual can authentically be themselves, harnessing their unique skills, ideas, and experiences. We champion equity and opportunities for all, regardless of their background, and pledge to actively challenge bias and discrimination. Fareshare, embraces everyone, regardless of who they are and encourage you to be your best self, daily.

In addition to our dedication to diversity and inclusion, we are equally committed to ensuring that everyone, irrespective of their background, has access to safe, nutritious food. Collaborating with community organisations, we tirelessly distribute food to those in need and advocate for policies that promote food equity.

We firmly believe that by uniting individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experiences, we can foster a more innovative and effective organisation that is better equipped to understand and address the unique needs of the communities we serve.
