Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will play an active role within the community, promoting the service through the delivery of presentations and representing the service at public engagement events. You will also work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

2024 marks 34 years since SSAFA began delivering an independent non-statutory, and confidential service, for the Royal Air Force community across the UK, and this is an exciting time to be joining as we were recently successful in our bid to continue delivering this service.

About you

To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.

You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.

There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive and have access to your own car.

Samaritan’s Purse is looking for a well-connected individual to act as our London Donor Ministries contact. This would either be a Donor Ministries Associate or Donor Ministries Manager.

The role is full time, remotely based, but with one day a week from our National Ministry Centre in Coventry.

The role will involve working some Sundays, when church opportunities occur.

To be suitable for this role you will need to good networking leads within a Christian context. You will enjoy getting to know people and prayerfully nurturing relationships. You will have a clear delivery and the ability to present at, lead or on occasion take a church service. Further information can be found in the Job Description.

The Outreach Worker will act as primary contact for the project and policy work and ensure good working relationships with a range of key contacts including policy and programmes partners.

1. Developing and delivering Human Rights Act based rights training workshops and support sessions
2. Analysing human rights law and development in cases and communicating the practical impact of these through outreach visits to local community sector

Person Specification:

Essential characteristics:

1. Have at least two year’s experience of working in the charity sector, voluntary sector, or the public sector in a role with some similar role and functions
2. Experience of developing and delivering outreach work to build the capacity of people to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to bring about social change
3. Understanding of working in the charity sector, and in particular what it means to work for positive change whilst not being a campaign group
4. Understanding of human rights law and practice and implications for diverse communities
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of people
6. Able to receive visitors and to deal with their queries, signposting to other agencies, where required
7. Experienced in dealing with work of a confidential nature, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulatory requirements
8. Experience of report writing, preparing newsletters, project monitoring reports, publicity and promotional material
9. High standard of computer literacy, including experience of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc

The Charity

The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part. 

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and inspiring individual to oversee and lead our new YAT Resilience Programme. Following a successful pilot in Wiltshire in 2023, we are now launching the programme in Somerset, a new geographical location for the Youth Adventure Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of YAT’s growth, leading our first move outside of Wiltshire and Swindon. There is plenty of scope to develop this new programme, ensuring it meets its objectives and gives the best possible opportunities to the vulnerable young people who are referred to build their resilience and therefore improve their future lives. 

The Resilience Programme Lead will be responsible for;

• developing the content of the Resilience Programme including identifying, arranging and booking activities and other opportunities; and developing complementary materials such as reflective journals, take home challenges, online support and session plans for individual support.

• delivering the Resilience Programme to groups of young people, ensuring the highest standards of safety, wellbeing and engagement, acting as the key point of contact for them and their parents/carers throughout, and ensuring they get the maximum benefit from the opportunity. 

• the continued review and development of the programme content, experience and learning opportunities to ensure maximum outcomes and that programme objectives are fulfilled. You will seek the views and feedback of young people, and include them as well as other stakeholders in its development. Having a high quality programme that meets its aims is of the utmost importance to YAT and this will require a reflective, insightful and creative leader. 

• monitoring the impact of the programme on the young people taking part through use of our outcomes measurement tool and seeking feedback from young people, parents, referral agencies and volunteers. Reporting on this impact through success stories, data and analysis.

• working with the referral schools and young people’s families to promote understanding of the benefits of the programme, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require. Providing parents/carers and referral schools with feedback to help support the young person’s development and wellbeing. 

• line management for other Resilience Programme Managers, overseeing their workflow and delivery of the programme.

• working with the Volunteering Lead to recruit, train, support, organise and prepare volunteers who will work on the programme, including providing training and ensuring safe working practices and the highest standards of care and safeguarding. On activities you will oversee staff and providers who are brought in to support the delivery of the programme.

• overseeing the programme budget and ongoing expenditure review to ensure it is on track and achieves best value.

• overseeing and developing the programme’s website pages, database usage and administrative systems.

• scoping out and creating opportunities, contacts, networks and support in Somerset in order to raise YAT’s profile in the county.

• supporting the fundraising team through providing feedback, reports and supporting information to help acquire and maintain funding for the programme.

• attending parts of the YAT Adventure Programme, other events and volunteer training throughout the year in order to support the wider functions of the charity.

• acting as an ambassador for the Youth Adventure Trust at all times.

The Candidate

To be up to the challenge you’ll need an excellent understanding and a proven track record of relevant experience working with vulnerable and challenging young people. You’ll need demonstrable skills at building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; young people, parents/carers, schools, volunteers, professional organisations and providers. You’ll need strong leadership and motivational skills; the capacity to get the best out of people and confidently deal with complex issues and challenges. You’ll be an excellent communicator, planner and problem solver, a strong team player and an exemplary role model. 

We need someone with;

• knowledge, understanding and commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding, and dedication to promoting the welfare and safety of young people. 

• relevant experience of managing, supporting and developing secondary age young people in a group setting, as well as through individual work. 

• experience and interest in outdoor and adventurous activities. 

• strong leadership skills to motivate, support, energise and manage a team. 

• skills to train and develop new and existing staff, ensuring they feel well supported and are able to fulfil their role to the highest standard. 

• relevant experience of working with volunteers in the Third Sector, including recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers. 

• experience of delivering training and strong facilitation skills.

• experience of working in partnership with other professional organisations.

• self-motivation with the ability to work on their own initiative to plan and manage their workload.

• strong IT skills including experience of MS Office, web based platforms and databases.

Role Requirements

• Working alongside the Head of Public Fundraising, you will strengthen and implement business planning, pipeline and budgeting processes as well as devise comprehensive audience-led stewardship plans, maintaining momentum and focus to achieve targets.  
• Lead the implementation and delivery of the strategy for the Events and Partnerships teams and work with the Head of Public Fundraising and the teams to develop and review strategies to maximise income from events and partnerships

• Lead the Events team to review and overhaul our current events programme so that we are maximising net income and ROI as well as meeting the needs of our supporters and local community, and building connections and long-term relationships with our events supporters
• Work across the Retail, Fundraising and Communications directorate to maximise opportunities for contact mapping, cross-sell and support the activity of other teams within the directorate (including but not limited to stock donations, sponsorship of committee-led events, pro bono support, gifts in kind etc.)
• Be responsible for the implementation of the budgets and delivery of income and expenditure against the plans
• Bring the Events and Partnerships teams together to ensure that we are seizing opportunities to integrate the programmes, for instance through corporate sponsorships of events, employee volunteering or participation, donated goods for raffles and auctions, match funding and more
• Develop relationships with colleagues across the Public Fundraising Team, wider directorate and organisation to ensure that opportunities for engagement, integration and promotion of events and partnerships are maximised and publicised

Operations

On-site at Glass Door Night shelter venues in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham or Wandsworth

20 October 2024 to late April 2025 

Shifts from 6:45pm or 9:45pm to 7.15am (plus additional time if allocated driver). Hours and days of work will vary according to the needs of the service.

We are looking to recruit exceptional individuals with an open, collaborative style and a practical, can-do approach to provide a vital nightly service for our guests as Overnight Project Workers.

We value diversity and welcome all, in particular those with life experience and lived experience.

While experience of working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people would be desirable, an understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness and working in a compassionate and flexible manner is more important and essential.

Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that will include weekends and public holidays. Due to the vulnerable group you will be working with, you will be asked to undergo an enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding measures prior to appointment.

Please note:

Some of our Overnight Project Workers are required to have a driving licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.

However, this post also is still suitable for those that want a non-driving role.

On each shift, one of the two Overnight Project Workers will be an allocated driver and is expected to drive the van back to its local base in Fulham or Wandsworth, depending on the shelter circuit. The allocated driver for the shift will receive an additional hour of pay for this task.

What you will do as part of our team

The Overnight Project Worker is responsible for the following:

• Following best practice procedures for the security and safety of the guests and volunteers.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided. Writing regular shift reports using the In-Form client relationship platform.
• Carrying out regular checks around the shelter, checking conditions of all areas.
• Ensuring that the van is loaded correctly with shelter provisions and that no Glass Door belongings are left on site.
• Adhering to Glass Door’s operational and health & safety policies in all aspects of your work. Maintaining clear lines of communication with your colleagues including the Night Shelter Manager, Caseworkers, and the Operations Manager.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are followed and implemented.
• Undertaking any other duties to aid the good running of the project, as required by the Shelter Manager or Operations Manager.
• Accurately reporting observations, interactions, concerns and actions with guests to their caseworker using written reports.

• Ensuring all guests are woken from 6am onwards and leave the building by 7am
• Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays.

On occasions you will also be expected to attend training, team meetings and other activities as required. The allocated driver is expected to drive the van back to its allocated base at the end of the shift to which an additional hour of pay applies for this task.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Direct Marketing and Fundraising Officer to join our Public Fundraising team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our fundraising activities, particularly during appeals, where your coordination skills will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

Appeal Coordination:

• Assist the Direct Marketing Manager - Acquisition in keeping member agency fundraising directors and key suppliers up to date in the run-up to and during appeals.
• Update the fundraising and marketing team budget tracker, ensuring accurate financial tracking throughout the appeal process.
• Support the setup and management of Appeal Toolkits and Appeal Hubs, providing essential assets to staff, member agencies, and suppliers.
• Assist with the coordination and delivery of creative projects across all direct marketing channels, ensuring timely and effective execution.
• Work with the team to gather and report appeal results, providing updates to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Executive Team, and CEO’s office.

 Ongoing Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage review meetings with suppliers’ post-appeal, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
• Monitor and update core and appeal budgets, processing invoices and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Support the Director of Fundraising and Marketing in organizing and managing the Fundraising Director’s Group meetings, including diary coordination, preparing presentations, and taking minutes.

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health. 

We are delighted to be commissioned to deliver a programme of work across Hounslow which supports parents to be able to feed their babies in the way that is right for them and feel informed and supported throughout.

We are seeking a capable Peer Supporter who will attend and provide support at all of our community groups. It will include travel across the Hounslow Borough (expenses will be reimbursed). Homeworking is required to complete administrative duties.

The Peer Supporter will work alongside volunteer Peer Supporters, the NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor and the Service Delivery Manger for Hounslow. They will be providing peer support in the community, offering one to one support at groups and via home visits. The post holder will be engaging with families most in need, liaising with health professionals and Children Centre staff and ensuring communities know how to access the service. 

This role will be working to continuously make a difference for the many families across Hounslow who struggle with feeding their baby and social isolation in pregnancy and postnatally.

• To build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. 

• Support in delivering inductions for volunteer peer supporters.

• Liaise with NCT staff, volunteers, Health Professionals and NCT Practitioners. 

• Be able to travel around the Hounslow area to groups. 

 
It is essential for this post that, unless already trained by NCT, you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter.  This requires breastfeeding experience of ideally, at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours.

The role is 14-21 hours per week which will be predominantly Monday to Friday within the working day. This is a community based role within Hounslow Borough.
