About us
Who we are
“Rainbow Haven gives me the strength to move forward, to move on.” Refugee
Rainbow Haven (trading name of The East Manchester Community Association TEMCA) is a registered charity, offering an unconditional welcome and a place of safety, advice, emotional and practical support and a community to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants. The people we support have experienced the very worst of humanity. Often traumatised from their experiences, those who seek our help tell us they feel extreme isolation and exclusion. They have lost family, friends and culture, losses aggravated by poverty, poor health and language barriers. On a daily basis we see destitution, poor housing, family separation, perinatal and postnatal difficulties, trauma and multiple difficulties accessing services. We support people for as long as they need our help.
Our mission is to ensure those who have experienced trauma, conflict, isolation and discrimination find a warm welcome, a place of safety, advice, support and friendship to navigate complex systems, live with dignity and build safe, productive lives in the UK.
