You will indirectly support young people by ensuring that our Cardiff Centre operates safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing delivery space, facilities compliance and controlling office equipment and supplies. Having previous administrative experience is beneficial but not essential.

To be successful in this role, you must have a good understanding of the challenges young people within our target groups face, to assist them when they arrive in our Centre. In this role no two days are the same, you get to be involved with many different functions of the Trust and interact with everyone who works in the Newcastle Centre, this is why planning and organisation skills are a must.

Assistant Church Buildings Officer

The Role

You will provide administrative support to the Church Buildings Officers and gain experience in the faculty jurisdiction system.  Working directly with the Senior Church Buildings Officer, you will be responsible for:

• being the first point of contact for the Church Buildings team, providing comprehensive support to parishes and the team; 

• validating new applications and responding to enquiries;

• processing List B and minor faculty applications; and

• contacting parishes and other stakeholders as directed by the Church Buildings Officers to progress applications.

You will join a friendly and busy Church Buildings Team, totalling 10 staff.  The Church Buildings Team offers advice and helps to support the long-term sustainable future of the historic church buildings across the diocese helping individual congregations to care for them and adapt them for today’s needs. 

About You

You should be comfortable working in a busy team, adapting to the challenges associated with supporting the care of the 808 church buildings in the diocese. You will be able to take the initiative whilst communicating with and supporting parishes and the Church Buildings Officers.  A keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and a “can do” attitude are also essential.  While primarily an administrative post, there will be many opportunities for you to enhance your skill set, gain new experiences, and develop a career pathway within the heritage sector.

Waddesdon Manor is a historic house open to the public near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. The Deputy Head of Security (DHS) is primarily responsible for the daily operation of the Security Department. This includes line management of a team of Security Rangers (SRs), Security Technical Officers (STO) and Security Officers (SO) who work on a rota basis, covering day and night shifts for 24 hour cover.  The DHS reports into, and works closely with, the Head of Security and Transport (HOST) who oversees the strategic direction and long-term planning for the department.

The DHS is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of response and communications from the team at all times.  The DHS leads them in championing exceptional service and support to staff, contractors and clients, and promotes the importance of being a customer-facing department.

Additionally, they will use their technical knowledge to proactively make adjustments to the high specification CCTV and Centralised Security Systems, ensuring the best performance is drawn from them, improving monitoring capabilities and response time.

Working with the HOST, the DHS will also coordinate the remote monitoring of external CCTV systems ensuring alarms are actioned, protocols are followed, and that an excellent working relationships with other client properties are maintained.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Respond to first aid incidents involving staff, visitors and contractors as required, ensuring all paperwork is submitted to the Helath and Safety Manager within the required timeframe
• Oversee and update all procedural plans and documentation, working closely with the HOST and the team to achieve this, including the department emergency plan
• Undertake the development of new procedures and how-to-guides for the department as and when required
• Oversee the update of departmental risk assessments and apprise annually, applying own expertise to this process
• In support of department budgeting, advise the HOST where improvements or possible cost savings can be made without affecting quality or performance
• Plan the annual work rota for the department, ensuring that this is issued at the beginning of each year, then updated and reviewed throughout the year

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum three years supervisory or management experience in the security industry or a similar role
• Able to always lead by example with good prioritisation skills, integrity and trustworthiness
• Strong co-ordination and planning skills plus strategic thinking

This role will be responsible for the strategic promotion of the services across the boroughs, engaging with a range of supported housing and homelessness service providers to source referrals into the services. The role will also be responsible for the liaison and communication of case management across any providers engaged with the service.

This service is for single homeless people who have slept rough or at risk of sleeping rough across SPEAR’s boroughs of operation.

We are seeking an experienced and a highly motivated staff member for our Complex Needs Accommodation Service. This Project is a 15 bed mixed gender supported accommodation based in Islington. The role will require you to work alongside the Regional Services Manager, to provide a high level of support to these clients.

You will be in a specialist role designed to work with people with complex support needs relating to: mental ill health, physical health & substance use needs. You will also play a key part in reducing the risk of re-offending, liaising with external professionals, preventing homelessness and promoting the independence and social inclusion of these clients.

The working rota for this post is Monday-Friday (no weekend shifts) and a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm.) We strongly welcome applications from local residents of Islington.

Buildings Manager

BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council) is Birmingham’s CVS (Council for the Voluntary Sector). We are an umbrella body that supports Birmingham’s VCFSE (Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise) sector to deliver for the citizens of Birmingham.   

As part of its operations BVSC owns Latham House. Latham House is a multi-occupied office and retail building sited in Birmingham city centre and is the base for BVSC’s activity.

The post-holder will play a critical role in transforming Latham House into a vibrant centre of BVSC’s operations and a significant income generating asset. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of the building to meet BVSC’s evolving operational requirements, income generation through the management of the tenancy offer and the ongoing maintenance and improvement of Latham House. 

Role Overview:

The Building Manager will take operational responsibility for the Latham House building. The post-holder will lead on driving the transformation of the building, ensure effective day-to-day operations, maximise revenue generation through strategic management, and oversee the building’s ongoing maintenance and improvements. Your role will be pivotal in supporting BVSC's operational needs and ensuring Latham House meets evolving standards in both functionality and sustainability.

The Building Manager will hold operational responsibility for the running of all BVSC estates, currently Latham House, Ensuring:

- Well appointed, managed and maintained estates.

- An effective physical base for BVSC operations.

- BVSC estates generates maximum revenue for BVSC.

Estates Management

1. To lead on estates management for BVSC. Driving the transformation and renovation of BVSC estates so that they support BVSC operations and maximise revenue into BVSC.

2. To ensure the smooth day-to-day running of BVSC estates for its occupiers, visitors and BVSC staff.

3. To procure and performance manage contractors in line with BVSC policies and procedures.

4. To ensure BVSC has effective knowledge of and relationships with suppliers to undertake effective estates management.

5. Carry out regular inspections of the property and organise remedial works.

6. Specify and adopt a planned preventative maintenance programme - including the replacement of M&E and other elements of the physical infrastructure.

7. Oversee and manage the physical space in which BVSC undertakes direct delivery.

8. Conduct regular site checks to identify any health & safety hazards and ensure an appropriate response from BVSC.

9. To be responsible for Health and Safety and other legislative requirements relevant to BVSC estates. Retain records of risk assessments and ensure all recommendations are actioned.

10. To ensure appropriate insurances are in place in relation to BVSC estates.

11. To ensure BVSC buildings meet the highest possible standards in relation to accessibility and impact on the environment.

Income Generation

1. To maximise the resale and rental value of BVSC estates.

2. To lead on maintaining the business model regarding BVSC estates that supports maximum revenue generation for BVSC.

3. To act on behalf of BVSC in regard to establishing new tenants ensuring all lettable space is occupied. This may involve managing external letting agents.

4. To be responsible for revenue generation from BVSC estates. Overseeing the raising and recovery of rent demands, and all other costs to be recovered from the tenants, including the apportioning of utility bills where required. 

5. To work with BVSC staff to support inward investment into the building from grant making bodies, trusts and statutory agencies. 

Managing Tenants 

1. Establishing good relationships with the office and retail tenants and acting as the primary contact to resolve any queries and situations which arise regarding their use of the building and to do so in a timely manner. 

2. Retain accurate tenancy records and ensure that rent reviews, lease expiries and new lettings are triggered, and appropriate terms negotiated in the best interests of BVSC. This may involve the appointment of external advisers.

3. Ensure that tenants comply with their terms of occupation and deal with any issues arising from tenants.

4. Manage the building service charge including its apportionment, annual budgeting, quarterly invoicing and annual reconciliation.  Monitor expenditure during the year.

5. Ensure compliance with health and safety across the building including the tenanted areas in so far as the tenants must comply in accordance with their lease terms.

6. To act in compliance with RICS Service Charge Code

Managerial Responsibilities

1. To line and performance manage staff to deliver against the requirements of each post, in accordance with appropriate BVSC HR  policies and procedures.

2. To manage budgets appropriate to the role and within BVSC’s financial guidelines, by monitoring income against expenditure and dealing with issues  around budget variance.

3. To deputise for other staff when required.

4. To respond positively and constructively to internal performance management  processes and to contribute to the ethos of continuous improvement within BVSC.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Significant experience in estates or property management, including facilities management and income generation strategies.

• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety regulations, and environmental sustainability practices.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with tenants, contractors, and internal teams.

• Ability to manage budgets, track performance, and deal with financial issues and budget variances.

• Experience in managing staff and delivering team performance in line with organisational goals.

Vineyard Community is seeking a Business Manager, this is a brand new role. As the Business Manager you’ll play a key role in strengthening the charity’s operations and ensuring its financial resources, people, systems are aligned to achieve the Five-Year Strategic Plan. You will work closely with the CEO, ensuring smooth administration and background operations while stepping in during the CEO’s absence. From drafting the Annual Income and Expenditure Budget to overseeing Monthly Management Accounts, you’ll ensure the charity’s financial health. You’ll also maintain legal compliance in employment practices and ensure IT systems support operational needs. With your leadership and skills, you’ll help Vineyard Community stay efficient and focused that will enable more lives to be transformed.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in operational delivery in central operation functions
• Experience of financial planning, managing budgets and producing financial reports for senior stakeholders
• Experience of managing HR issues and a working knowledge of HR best practice and legislation

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Horsham Y Centre supports 50 young people aged 16-25 to alleviate the risk of or impact of homelessness. Situated in the middle of Horsham, the service has strong links with and contributes to the local community. The service is staffed 24 hours a day with a support team, night team and management based onsite. It aims to support residents into independent accommodation through life skills support.

We are looking for a Housing Night Worker to join our Horsham Y team. Main areas of responsibilities are:

Safety and security

• Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house welcome to residents, visitors and staff, and ensure the building is safe, secure quiet and welcoming 
• Maximise the wellbeing of residents and visitors by ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and house rules, all within the terms of tenancy agreements
• Assess and monitor the risks presented by residents to ensure they can keep themselves safe and, where possible, continue their development
• Record all incidents and accidents and share appropriately with the wider team, your manager and, if necessary, the central safeguarding team 

Engagement with residents

• Welcome residents home and provide informal and responsive support so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives
• Ensure resident’s views, aspirations, concerns, and ideas are sought so they can play an active role in influencing the services they receive
• Proactively promote the services on offer and ensure residents are encouraged to engage with those services
• Contribute to, or support, evening groupwork activities so that residents can access tailored solutions that meet their needs, wishes and aspirations

Administration and housekeeping

• Undertake tasks as directed, including but not limited to inputting data, assessments, reviews, case notes onto our client database and entering new residents details/closing ex-resident records
• Completing health and safety/compliance checks, and recording estate inspectors and room checks
• Adding maintenance requests to our property services system

General

• Work as part of a team, on a rota four on four off shift pattern, alongside another Housing Night Worker, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective at night, along with taking responsibility for personal safety during periods of lone working
• Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations
• Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice

Experience and knowledge

• Experience of working in a customer facing environment, remaining calm and solution-focused when dealing with challenging behaviour
• Basic understanding of the support needs of young people and/or adults at risks
• Understanding of the impact of trauma on others, and the ability to work with a strengths-based approach with people who may be in distress
• Demonstrated confidence and competence in recording notes/actions in service log, incident forms and Health and Safety check lists
• Basic knowledge of good safeguarding procedures in relation to young people and/or vulnerable adults, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries (training provided)

Skills and abilities 

• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing for appropriate record keeping (vital for handover to colleagues working day shifts)
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Ability to work lone work, work autonomously, and use own initiative, as well as being part of a team
• IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office 365 package, as well as healthy and safety and client management systems (training on YMCA DLG systems provided)
• Ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer to work collaboratively within the Church of England Diocese of Chelmsford, to help realise our aim of racial justice for all in Essex and East London.

The Racial Justice Project Officer will work with the Racial Justice Officer, Racial Justice Advisory Panel, Bishop’s Leadership Team, and other key stakeholders across the Diocese to develop an implementation plan to deliver our racial justice roadmap.

Candidates will be well organised and efficient with good presentation and IT skills. They will utilise research and data analysis skills to formulate detailed, multi-layered and costed plans to be agreed and delivered by identified owners. They will be a self-starter good at stakeholder management, with a flair for communicating ideas and sharing good practices.

• To develop a project and implementation plan to deliver the recommendations in the Diocesan Racial Justice report  ‘From Action to Real Change’ and the Church of England recommendations in ‘From Lament to Action’ To ensure the actions for the project are well planned, financially robust and targets and desired outcomes are agreed and met and continue to be actioned by key stakeholders to ensure the desired impact.
• To develop a framework for the production of project reports, ensuring the reports satisfy the Racial Justice Unit’s requirements and feed into wider diocesan governance structures.
• To identify and use qualitative and quantitative data to provide recommendations to the project and to satisfy the funder that agreed outcomes are being met..

CRITERIA

• Experience of project work, including planning detailed multi-layered projects, likely to be working at Project Officer or equivalent level.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office 365 (or equivalent), including the ability to create reports in a variety of media, e.g. through PowerPoint and Excel
• Educated to A Level standard or equivalent level of qualification.
• Strong planning, time management and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
