ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a talented, creative and dedicated marketing professional to join our small but powerful team to help deliver our new strategy. 

As a new role in the hospice’s Fundraising & Marketing Team, the Marketing & Communications Manager will join an existing team of fundraising managers working to maximise awareness and support of the hospice in order to ensure its long-term sustainability.

The postholder will be responsible for the operational management, development and delivery of marketing and  communications to support the hospice’s income generation strategy, including line management of the Website Editor and Marketing & Communications Officer, and external agencies.

The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing professional, used to working closely with income generating teams. They will oversee the delivery of a compelling programme of multi-channel communications with the sole aim of increasing the awareness of and support for the charity. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing and communications planning, delivery and performance management

• Working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, develop a clear marketing and communications plan to support the strategies for fundraising, retail and volunteering.
• Implement, monitor and analyse marketing and communications plans and budgets, producing impactful insights and reports to guide our ever-evolving work through all communication channels.
• Develop and maximise the marketing mix, identifying innovative initiatives and working across online and offline channels, to best support the promotion of all income generation activities across the hospice.
• Ensure compliance to industry standards and best practice at all times.
• Support the fundraising strategy in proactively researching and targeting audiences across the catchment area to ensure a broadening of reach and awareness of the breadth of the hospice’s services.
• Be forward facing and lead on engagement with clinical colleagues to promote the need for strong patient stories and effective storytelling to support fundraising.
• Ensure sufficient opportunities for collection of service user data to share news and promote activities.
• Proactively develop and streamline the long-term internal and external communications schedules across the charity.
• Lead on content creation, coordination and production of hospice marketing materials, protecting the reputation, brand and tone of Katharine House.

Operational delivery

• Lead on the writing and distribution of appropriate and engaging press releases, paid adverts, local village features and articles.
• Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Officer to oversee delivery of a planned (and reactive) social media programme, maximising opportunities to increase our profile, using online planning and Analytical tools to plan and report on digital channels to improve targeting and supporter journeys.
• Work closely with the Website Editor to oversee and optimise the KHH website: creating and updating content for the charity and clinical colleagues, including the EPiC Resource Centre.
• Work with the Website Editor and Supporter Care team to ensure that integration of the CRM (Beacon) and website is optimised, to maximise supporter journeys, supporter preference compliance and insights.
• Work together with relevant charity and clinical colleagues and our designer to prepare, design and deliver high-quality marketing materials. 
• Work with the Marketing & Communications Officer to oversee the production of the monthly supporter e-newsletters.
• Alongside your immediate team, manage production of the bi-annual Katharine House magazine from start to finish, with content and thematic planning with fundraising and volunteering managers.
• Lead on content creation to use across the charity. Continue to manage and regularly update our library (filed, captioned, tagged) of patient, staff and volunteer stories with consent, quality photography and video content for use across all of income generation.
• Manage and oversee the charity’s online channels including website, ensuring accurate, up-to-date and engaging content, and ensure all online advertising (inc. paid social media adverts), Google AdWords grant and SEO are effectively managed.
• Liaise with clinical colleagues at our NHS partner OUH to support key marketing, messaging and communication needs, ensuring our brand is correctly used.

Leadership and people management

• Meet regularly with the Website Editor and Marketing & Communications Officer, fostering positive communication and engagement. Carry out monthly one-to-ones, setting quarterly objectives and recognising training needs where necessary.
• As a member of the management team, represent the culture and values of the hospice and charity sector.
• Manage the ongoing and changing priorities within the team, communicating and sharing progress and changes in a clear, timely manner. Promote collaborative working and its benefits across the organisation.
• Attend regular management meetings, contributing to team strategy and overall management/team needs.
• Act as a positive role model to the charity team and wider stakeholders.
• Actively manage the workload of our designer. 
• Where necessary, manage poor performance as it happens and support staff to fulfil their role.
• Network and foster good relationships both internally and externally to the charity.

About Sebby’s Corner

Sebby's Corner is based in Barnet, EN5 and our aim is to ensure that no child goes without the basic essentials they need to thrive. We supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty. Families in need get referred to us by social workers, health visitors, family support workers, midwives and other professionals from our 800-strong referral partner network.

We also offer school uniform support in the summer and a Birthday Club that ensures children have the chance to celebrate with gifts, balloons and a cake. At Christmas, we host a festive shop where families can choose presents for their children, giving children the chance to have a Christmas just like their peers.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Service Delivery

• Guiding families during their New Parent Baby Essentials Experience appointment, helping them choose the items they need for their baby. Ensure clients feel supported and empowered when choosing items.
• Coordinate logistics, appointments, stock, and setup for our two seasonal services within a set timeline and budget - Christmas Support and School Uniform Support.
• Manage booking system across our services
• Ensure families and referral partners have a welcoming and respectful experience at the hub.
• Support complex referrals and work alongside the Referrals Coordinator to meet urgent or sensitive needs.
• Supporting our Referrals Co-ordinator with the Essentials Support service during busy periods to ensure families and referral partners who are collecting receive a positive and dignified experience and receive the items they requested.

Impact & Evaluation

• Gather and respond to feedback from families and volunteers to improve future service delivery.
• Provide reporting and statistics for impact reporting.

Referral Partner Engagement

• Act as a main point of contact for referral partners and schools.
• Onboarding new referral partners by providing clear information about service criteria, availability, and referral processes.
• Deliver briefings, training sessions, and guidance materials to improve referral quality and understanding.

Signposting & Partnerships

• Help families access additional support by providing signposting to trusted local services.
• Maintain a regularly updated resource list on the website and collaborate with partners to expand support options.
• Promote and lead on our Service Delivery partnerships such as educational workshops with Parent Learning Platform and antenatal classes with All About Babies and encourage family engagement.

Safeguarding

• Serve as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns. Make onward safeguarding referrals via MASH where necessary.
• Ensure all staff and volunteers receive appropriate safeguarding training.
• Create a culture of safety and openness, where concerns are raised and addressed appropriately.

What we can offer

Salary and pension
The salary range for this role is £30,000 - £34,000 FTE per annum (gross), dependent on experience and pro-rated if you work part-time. If eligible to join the pension scheme, we will match your contributions by 5%.

Annual leave
You will be entitled to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rated for part-time roles). We usually close between Christmas and New Year without this time coming off your annual leave allowance.

Job title: Philanthropy Manager

We are seeking our first Philanthropy Manager to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors and prospective donors (including alumni and other individuals, companies and charities) to generate major gifts £10,000 - £1 million+ for the Trust.

The successful candidate will join a small Executive Team of two (Director and Stewardship Officer) and work closely with our newly appointed Chair (from 6 July 2025), the Board of Trustees, and members of its sub-committee for Alumni Relations, Fundraising and Communications.

The first Kennedy Scholars departed for Harvard and MIT in 1966. In 2026 we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of this significant milestone in our history. The impact of this life-changing opportunity over the past 60 years will feature strongly in our new fundraising campaign.

Reporting to: Director of the Kennedy Memorial Trust (KMT)

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week. We understand that full-time hours may not suit all candidates, so there is some flexibility in the hours and work schedule.

Contract: Permanent

Compensation: Salary £45,000 FTE, 30 days holiday plus bank hols (FTE) and 8% employer pension contribution after 3 months’ service

Location: Home-based but within easy access to London. The post holder can work on a hybrid basis, combining predominately home-working with regular in-person meetings in London. Travel from home to London for work and meetings will be paid in accordance with any expenses policies in force at the time.

The role involves some travel, in addition to the London working requirement, for meetings/events with donors, scholars, trustees and other stakeholders – ie monthly within the UK and twice a year to the US. There will also be occasional evening and weekend commitments.

About the Kennedy Memorial Trust

The Kennedy Memorial Trust funds exceptional UK students to pursue graduate studies at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The role

1. Fundraising activity

Contribute to the development of the new fundraising strategy.

Research, identify and pursue fundraising opportunities that meet the Trust’s strategic objectives.

Lead one-on-one and small group meetings with Trustees and key supporters to identify, develop and deliver fundraising objectives.

Assist Trustees in developing and maintaining their portfolios of prospects and donors.

Write compelling fundraising proposals and applications for funding, including bespoke proposals tailored to specific individuals.

Initiate and nurture relationships with potential high-level donors aiming to establish a strong and long-term philanthropic relationship

Lead one-on-one and small group meetings with high-level donors and potential donors and ask them for significant financial contributions.

Maintain and develop professional, trusted and productive relationships with current and past donors, and with a range of priority stakeholders.

Use appropriate and effective negotiation skills to motivate and guide donors to make gifts at a high level.

2. Processes and Procedures

Ensure the Trust is compliant with all relevant aspects of the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice and the Charity Commission.

Maintain a professional approach to handling sensitive and confidential information, complying with privacy and data protection legislation.

Maintain the Trust’s suite of policies and procedures related to fundraising and donor engagement.

Actively engage in external networks to identify new prospective donors.

Contribute to monthly and quarterly fundraising performance reports and present progress to the trustee board and its committe

Accurately record donor interactions in the CRM database and contribute to improving data management and analysis processes.

Regularly update the Executive team on fundraising activities and seek their input and support as needed.

Work closely with the Stewardship Officer to develop and implement solicitation and stewardship plans for donors and prospects.

Participate in team decision-making by suggesting creative solutions and engaging in strategic planning discussions.

Any other duties which may be required by the Director.

Other Responsibilities

As a small organisation we ask staff to remain flexible in their role responsibilities and so the JD will vary from time to time.

Experience and education required:

Experience of professional fundraising, with a track record of successfully securing major (£10k+) gifts from individuals, Foundations and businesses.

Educated to degree level

Experience of delivering a fundraising programme and pipeline to meet financial targets.

Experience identifying, negotiating and managing resource requirements in support of fundraising activity

Experience of having worked with high-level donors

Demonstrable understanding of higher education in UK and US

Demonstrable understanding of data protection/ Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice and the Charity Commission.

High computer literacy in standard office packages and experience in using databases.

Legacy and In Memory Manager

This role will oversee the administration of legacies, drive the growth of the charity’s Free Wills programme, steward legacy pledgers, and expand in memory fundraising. The Legacy and In Memory Manager will also ensure supporter journeys, audience insight and effective targeting are at the heart of the charity’s programme, working with the Individual Giving and Development Lead to create impactful marketing campaigns across a variety of channels.

The post holder will raise awareness of the importance and impact of gifts in wills and in memory giving to a wider audience, both internally and externally, ensuring these vital income streams are embraced at all levels of the organisation.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Knowledge Team, working alongside two existing Research Associates and a Data Analyst. 

You will be integral in delivering research, data, and insights that support organisational development and programme delivery across NYA.

We are looking for an experienced mixed-methods researcher with a strong understanding of social research and evaluation approaches. Ideally, you will have experience working in or alongside the youth sector and be confident using both qualitative and quantitative methods.

You’ll need to be flexible, proactive, and a strong communicator, able to explain complex ideas to varied audiences. 

This role is ideal for someone looking to make a tangible difference through evidence-led approaches that shape policy, practice, and impact in youth work.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

• Designing and delivering research projects using a range of methods including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
• Supporting the development of the NYA research and data hub, including external research collation and data visualisation.
• Leading on evaluations to meet funder requirements and contribute to NYA’s growing evidence base.
• Analysing data from NYA programmes to support impact measurement.
• Promoting evidence-based practice across NYA and the wider youth sector.
• Communicating findings clearly through reports, briefings, and presentations.
• Managing research projects and collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver on time and to quality.

Role Overview

The postholder will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that all creative outputs align with our brand identity and communication goals. Additionally, as the organisation undergoes a brand repositioning, the role involves collaborating with our brand agency to facilitate a seamless transition to the new brand identity. Beyond the transition, this role will champion the brand and lead by example in design execution, ensuring continued consistency and adherence to the refreshed brand identity across all creative outputs

About You

You’ll have proven experience as a Graphic Designer; working either in a similar role or in an in-house or agency setting.  Your excellent understanding of brand identity, typography, and visual storytelling will come into play whilst creating accessible and inclusive content, and using your skills in Adobe Creative Suite to design for social media, email marketing campaigns, web platforms, paid advertising and printed media. You’ll be someone with a  strong management skills, an ability to juggle multiple projects and work to tight deadlines. Experience working in charities, health organisations, or advocacy groups would be an advance, but not essential.

Our Location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home,  although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies, or be required attend a few team away-days each year. In In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.

The Office Manager role is crucial to our very busy and friendly office of 14 people and is incredibly varied and interesting. The role requires someone to be friendly, flexible and adaptable, with strong communication skills, a hands-on attitude and the willingness and initiative to work with the whole team doing a variety of different tasks to achieve a common goal. You will be highly organised and be prepared to take on information in many forms and quickly translate this into action. You will be comfortable working with deadlines and priorities, managing your own workload and the expectations of others.  It is an incredibly rewarding role for someone who has the passion and commitment to help the Foundation address inequalities and to tackle poverty and inequality at a local level. No two days will be the same.

- You will need excellent communication skills, as you will often be the first point of contact for all enquiries, including grant applicants donors, and room bookings.

- You will support the fundraising and programmes team with running events and resident panels.

- You will be responsible for ensuring that the building is safe, well maintained and accessible to all staff, tenants and visitors, including sourcing and managing contractors.

- You will support the finance and fundraising teams with data entry and reporting, purchasing and reconciliations.

- You will also have the opportunity to delve into special initiatives, such as supporting our  strategic objectives around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), the use of AI and environmental action.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about the voluntary sector, particularly learning about trusts and foundations and grant making, as well as developing skills in a variety of admin functions, such as databases, finance, premises and health and safety.

You will also have the opportunity to meet the organisations we fund and work with as well as actively contribute towards our pledge of meeting the ACF’s Funder Commitment on Climate Change and our DEI Strategic workplan (available on request). This will allow you to develop your skills at the Foundation, ranging from project planning, communication, finance, and customer service. About the role 

In this role you’ll connect with our staff, volunteers and community in-person at our central London office and locally across all four nations. This will involve working with a variety of stakeholders and subject matter experts, and travelling regularly across the UK to our dedicated remote teams. 

What you’ll do:

• Design and deliver a learning plan which meets the needs of our strategies and carry out training needs analysis

• Refresh our core programmes and initiatives to further improve skills across the charity with focus on given to our management & leadership roles. 

• Work closely with the People and Volunteering teams to successfully respond to training needs for individual development plans and charity compliance e.g. capability, upskilling and safeguarding

• Develop and deliver monthly learning courses, e-learning, workshops, wellbeing and inclusion sessions 

• Coach, support and develop the L&D experts,  and develop learning experts in the wider charity in a matrix way

• Proven success in development and delivery of training courses in-house both in person and virtually

• Demonstrable experience of designing and delivering successful and impactful Learning initiatives - including management or leaderships

The Role
Building relationships with the fire and rescue services in your area, you’ll become an integral part of the local fire services community. You’ll join a nation-wide team of inspiring and innovative fundraisers, working collaboratively to secure the much-needed income for the Charity.

Helping to coordinate events, support fundraising initiatives and implement new ideas, you’ll support your people, stations, and offices to raise awareness of the Charity and achieve and exceed income targets, as well as working with local businesses and people to maximise our fundraising potential.

You’ll also be able to support and inspire our volunteers, ensuring that these vital links between our Charity and the fire and rescue services are happy and fulfilled in their roles.

Reporting to the Regional Fundraising Manager, you’ll be an excellent communicator with exceptional organisational skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.
