Location: East Molesey office, this is a hybrid work model between remote and office (minimum of twice a week)
Hours: 4-5 days a week
Salary: £55,000 – £63,000 (FTE) dependent on experience
The Director of Fundraising and Engagement plays a crucial part in helping us achieve our vision that no family whose child has cancer, or a life-challenging condition should have to cope alone. With an ambitious fundraising aim over the next 3 years, you will be leading a dedicated Fundraising and Engagement team to generate in excess of £1.2million income annually.
As a vital part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the CEO. Your role involves leading the Fundraising and Engagement team, where you will develop and implement innovative fundraising and engagement ideas along with bringing a high level of enthusiasm. As a hands-on and creative fundraiser, your pivotal responsibility is to ensure Momentum’s income sustainability while fostering personal growth and development for our team members.
Role overview
§ Working with the team collaboratively, responsible for leading the implementation of the fundraising and engagement strategy, which seeks to build and improve existing income streams, accelerate the growth in under optimised and emerging income streams and invest in growth opportunities.
§ Build and maintain a portfolio of high value fundraising streams including legacy giving, major donors along with developing new strategy and approach for individual giving.
§ Develop and deliver Momentum’s annual income strategy to secure in excess of £1.2 million increasing to £1.5 million over the next 3 years.
§ Provide exemplary stewardship of our supporters, focussing on retention and development of supporter journeys.
§ Create opportunities to grow our unrestricted income and support our 3-year strategic plan.
§ Personally manage key trust, corporate and supporter relationships alongside CEO.
§ Responsible for managing, recruiting and leading our incredible fundraising and engagement team to achieve their individual targets

Develop a portfolio of potential major donors and create appropriate engagement opportunities* ensuring that these opportunities match the individual donor’s wants and needs.
(*These engagement opportunities may include events, communications, smaller dinners, and meetings with senior people at Yorkshire Cancer Research).

Provide a bespoke, professional customer experience to all contacts at all times.

Work with colleagues (e.g. in the marketing and the events teams) to identify existing charity activities that may help attract and engage major donors.

Build a pipeline of major donor prospects who share the charity’s values and ambition to save lives by researching and trialling new ways to cure cancer.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level.

To have experience of proactively approaching prospects and building long-term relationships, preferably with philanthropists or family foundations.

To have experience of researching individuals and using this insight to inform decision-making.

To have experience of working collaboratively and effectively in a matrix-management organisation.

To have experience of developing clear Key Performance Indicators and reporting performance against them.

To have experience of working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser’s Edge).

To enjoy working with, and supporting, colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.

To be able to analyse and present data and information in a way that is helpful and actionable to others.

About you:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative Support:
- Assist the Production Manager with mail specs, collating information, creating purchase orders, and related tasks.
- Support the Media Manager in arranging regional coverage for overseas staff in the UK.

Scheduling and Planning:
- Update and maintain the print and digital communications schedule with audience managers.
Content Creation:
- Contribute to digital communications, including website content and social media.
- Assist in creating monthly print and digital communication documents.
- Support design tasks like picture editing and layout.
- Create subtitles for digital content.
- Participate in creative idea sessions.
Updates and Research:
- Monitor staff blogs for potential stories and produce a weekly social media roundup.
- Monitor external websites for relevant stories and brief teams.
- Provide research support as needed.
Media Library Management:
- Upload and remove media assets, ensuring accurate metadata and compliance.
- Support staff with acquiring and transferring assets from overseas programs.
- Improve the media library.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Highly Desirable Qualities:
- Communications or administration qualification
- Experience in a Christian organisation or charity environment

- Proficient in video editing, Photoshop, and design software like InDesign

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Location: Hybrid role with two days at MAF UK, Folkestone, and one day at our Operations Centre, MAF International, Ashford. The remaining two days from home or you may work at the office.
Working Hours: Full-time role (36 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours occasionally outside normal business hours). Hours should be agreed with the line manager.
Annual Leave: 22 days per year plus 8 paid public holidays.
Pension Scheme: Non-contributory (10% of salary).
Probation: 3 months (with a one-month review).
