Executive Director of Operations and Quality

Up to £85,000 - £90,000pa depending on experience, plus £5,750 car allowance pa.

Full time 37.5 hours per week.

Following an internal promotion, we are excited to share that we have a rare opportunity for a new Executive Director of Operations and Quality. FitzRoy is a pioneering national charity, committed to transforming the lives of adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs in over 100 services across England. Our mission is to transform lives by supporting people with learning disabilities to lead the lives they choose.  FitzRoy have successfully faced the challenges within the social care sector and the charity has grown year on year to now support over 800 people, across 70 local authorities.

We were founded more than 60 years ago by parents of children with learning disabilities, who pioneered an alternative to institutionalised care. This is still a core element of our work today.  ‘Seeing the Person’ is at the heart of the charity, and everything we do is focussed on transforming the lives of the people we support.

The Role

As we look ahead to the future, we are seeking to recruit a new Executive Director of Operations and Quality to bring the strategic thinking needed to help steer the path forward. As a visible leader, with accountability for Operations and Quality, you will navigate the ongoing challenges that exist within our environment, continue to drive forward on our ambition for outstanding quality, and first and foremost focus on enabling the people we support to realise their goals and dreams.

We are looking for a strategic and collaborative leader who can challenge and enable us to continue to be creative, agile and responsive in the delivery of our services.  You will strengthen our reputation through our new three-year strategy which includes amplifying the voice of our stakeholders, and collaborative engagement partnerships with the people we support and their families. This will ensure those with lived experiences are heard and influence our decisions.  You will lead teams to showcase our successes in a tangible way and ultimately drive our journey to outstanding.  Development and planning for the expansion of our clinical leadership and expertise will enable our new mental health provision to become fully embedded in the organisation.

The Person

Essential Experience

• Substantial strategic leadership experience in a complex health or social care organisation.
• A proven track record of delivering significant, successful business development and growth within the social care sector at a senior level.
• Experience of leading service delivery and understanding the complexity of managing a geographically dispersed and multi-disciplinary staff team.
• Experienced in working collaboratively with a high-performing senior leadership team.
• Demonstrable experience of managing a quality agenda; driving innovation, development, and continuous service improvement.
• Experience in the delivery of strategic growth, and analysis of relevant opportunities.
• Good market knowledge of the disability and broader social care sector.

The role will require travel to our services and any other off site meeting location.  Therefore, a full licence that allows you to drive in the UK is essential, as is access to your own vehicle for business travel.

The role will require nationwide travel, including regular attendance in person for meetings at our head office in Petersfield, Hampshire.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Creative Communications Lead is a key role within the Creative Team.  Working in collaboration with the Operations Team, the role holder has responsibility for the strategic oversight of internal and external communications and the practical ability to continue to develop the excellent design, social media and film content that enables and enhances St Stephen’s ministry.  We are looking for someone with a passion for creative comms, practical skills to enable the delivery and strategic oversight to bring it all into being.

Key objectives

· To hold the ‘voice’ of St Stephens

· To ensure the ‘look’ of St Stephens reflects the ‘voice’ with clarity and consistency

· To strategically plan and implement the churches comms – to enable external and internal engagement

· To imagine ways to continually innovate and improve our communications

· To ensure that all St Stephens media and communications output is high quality, consistent, clear and compelling

· To support all ministry areas with design, media and communications needs

· To produce all key communications and publicity materials to support the ministry of St Stephens: across digital and physical platforms

· To develop and oversee systems which enable integration into the life of the church

Responsibilities

· Design and production of all video / visual media for Sundays, ad hoc events, social channels and St Stephen’s website

· Oversight and continued development of St Stephen’s social media channels

· Oversight and production of the church–wide monthly / weekly email

· Working closely with the Creative / Worship Team to enable the production of worship nights and other creative projects etc.

· To develop and manage the website including on-going updates

· Liaising with printers / external support as necessary

The details

· £32-34K depending on experience

· 40 hours/5 days a week including at 1 Sunday morning service and 1 Sunday evening service per month to gather visual media content, to be worked flexibly to cover ministry needs

· Occasional evenings and Saturdays, Christmas and Easter services, with appropriate time off in lieu

· Full participation in the staff team (including attending staff worship, staff meetings and APCM)

· 25 days’ annual leave including up to 5 Sundays plus Bank Holidays and a day off on your birthday

About the role:

This role is based at Lancaster Police Station. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. As an IDVA working on Operation Provide you will:

• Work with the Police safeguarding team to identify high risk victims of domestic abuse.
• Check internal systems to check if victims are known or open to internal services and liaise with same.
• Conduct joint visits with the police to victims who are at serious risk of harm to provide independent information about their rights and options to enable them to keep safe from harm.
• Assess their needs and develop a bespoke safety and support plan
• Provide information and advocacy around the criminal justice process
• Liaise with internal and external agencies in order to keep the victim safe from harm and address their needs.

You will need:

• IDVA accreditation and/or have considerable relevant experience in supporting victims of domestic abuse
• a comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse & the impact on victims & families
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• an understanding of Safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
• theoretical, practical & procedural knowledge of civil & criminal justice remedies
• experience of partnership working
• good organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively
• strong crisis management skills, able to deal with difficult situations.
• Good communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal
• IT skills, able to use Microsoft Office & Case Management systems

Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK. 

Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as providing social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to legal, medical and educational services. Our Legal Access Department in the UK, provides access to critical legal representation for people seeking asylum and, more than this, supports people through the hostility and difficulty of claiming asylum.

In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, working alongside communities in Calais and Dunkirk to provide warm clothing, bedding and service provision to displaced people who live in appalling and dangerous conditions. 

All of Care4Calais’ operations are supported by a small, dedicated team of staff who supervise large volunteer teams to provide much needed support to communities seeking asylum and on the move in the UK and France. 

About the role: 

Care4Calais are recruiting two Operations Coordinators to support their French operations. 

The aim of the Operations Coordinator role is to support the Care4Calais’ French operations to continue to deliver vital humanitarian NFI (non food item) distributions and essential services. We distribute 6 days a week and provide daily services which include  phone charging sessions, access to hairdressing, bike repair and sewing equipment, activities such as games and language lessons as well as information sharing and refreshments to communities living in northern France. Whilst this is a challenging position you will be given a thorough induction and work alongside experienced team members. 

The successful candidate for this role will be proactive and hardworking with the ability to problem-solve and prioritise effectively. The role would suit someone who is a self-starter, strong team player and excels working within a varied role. Candidates will need strong organisational skills and must have the ability to make numerous important and compassionate decisions each day.

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent judgement, initiative, integrity and strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate to a diverse group of people. You will be part of Care4Calais’ core team in France and will report directly to the Head of Field Operations in France. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly-committed team of game changers dedicated to improving the lives of refugees.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Providing core operations support for Care4Calais’ operations in northern France 

• Supporting a team of logistics and purchasing specialists to manage new and second hand clothing stock and feed into operational planning for field activities.

• Managing and delivering Care4Calais’ NFI aid distributions and service provision with people on the move at the French/British border

• Managing and supporting teams of up to 40 volunteers each day to provide daily services in Calais and Dunkirk. Including leading daily briefings and health and safety training. 

• Supporting the smooth running of a warehouse and donation storage facility. 

• Working alongside a small staff team to develop processes, procedures and documentation to support the effective running of Care4Calais’ humanitarian operations. 

• Attending external meetings, building and maintaining relationships with partners and key stakeholders which allow Care4Calais’ operations to continue to run smoothly and effectively.

 Essential Skills and Experience: 

• 1 - 2 years experience working in an humanitarian context, for a human rights organisation or with people from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds;

• Professional or voluntary experience of working on projects concerning risk management, health and safety, safeguarding and compliance. 

• Self-motivated and used to managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines;

• Able to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including those from displaced communities;

• Good decision-making and negotiation skills;

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

• Experience working with displaced people or communities on the move, ideally with NFI distribution experience

• Experience leading and managing volunteer teams from varied backgrounds 

• Experience managing warehouse or storage spaces and/or complex logistical and purchasing projects. 

• Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English and at least a B2 level of French proficiency. 

• Strong digital literacy, including ability to work on Google Workspace and Office 365;

• Full clean driving licence and experience or willingness to drive vans

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with teams from different cultural backgrounds;

• Baccalauréat, A Level or equivalent academic qualification

• Experience delivering mass distributions of NFI or other aid items in an humanitarian context. 

• Proficiency in one or more of the languages spoken within asylum seeking communities, such as but not limited to: Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Dari, Kurdish Sorani, Tigrinya or Amharic.

What the job involves 

This is an excellent opportunity to join our vibrant, proactive and attentive Brand and Media team in a varied and dynamic role. Our focus is on making Prostate Cancer UK widely recognisable and building a deep understanding of the cause for our brand to be sustained. Following audience insight, we gain the attention of priority audiences at tactical calendar moments through creative content and storytelling.

You’ll be helping to tackle some of the biggest issues facing prostate cancer, from building public support and momentum behind our ambitious research programme, to increasing public understanding of risk factors and treatment options.

With your expertise and understanding of the national health agenda you’ll plan, develop and deliver large scale integrated campaigns which result in high quality, engaging and impactful media coverage, working collaboratively with colleagues across Communications.

You’ll provide expert media and PR guidance to teams and individuals across the charity, including the Executive Team, Research and Support and Influencing teams, and will build long-lasting relationships with key influential journalists and stakeholders to ensure prostate cancer remains an issue high in their agenda.

What we want from you

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual with solid experience in media relations and a strong understanding of the national health and research news agenda. You’ll be experienced in turning complex research, health or policy information into bitesize messaging and eye-catching content, along with the ability to look for new angles for stories which will help us drive forward our agenda.

Whilst your focus will be on generating proactive and reactive media coverage, you’ll also have a good understanding of the range of current communications channels and will have an eye on the bigger picture, considering opportunities to share messages and content to a wider audience.

Your excellent people skills will enable you to form effective relationships with a range of groups and individuals from journalists to colleagues, to men living with prostate cancer.

You’ll be a flexible team player, capable of managing multiple projects to tight deadlines, and happy to use your expertise to support your team, or take the lead, as the occasion demands

About the role

The Programme Coordinator will primarily be responsible for supporting Money Heroes, our largest primary programme designed to develop the financial capability of children across England and Wales. Money Heroes provides resources, training and mentoring for primary schools, as well as storybooks, games and other materials to supplement learning about money at school and in the home.

The Programme Coordinator will work closely with the Programme Manager and the Money Heroes team to ensure the smooth running of the programme, including coordinating content development and website updates, supporting the delivery of teacher training events, supporting the marketing and promotion of the programme, and supporting ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The role also works more broadly across the whole of the Programmes and Services team to ensure joined-up cohesive support is offered internally and externally to staff, teachers and other educators.

The post holder will be responsible for providing high-level customer service both internally and externally to a variety of people including teachers and other educators and YE staff. This role will also provide ongoing support to ensure we are effectively communicating the aims and objectives of our programmes to external stakeholders through newsletters, social media and email campaigns.

40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children. 

We are seeking a part-time Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI), based at Galleywall Primary School in Southwark, South London. This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.

For your caseload of target children, you will conduct an initial baseline assessment and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.
