This is an exciting time to join the team where the role will be a part of a small, very busy and dedicated People, Capability and Culture (PCC) team focusing on the UK and Germany. The role will be the first point of contact with employees and third-party providers. They will provide advice and support on a number of people and culture systems, processes, IT and travel. They will undertake a variety of HR and Operations administration duties, in keeping with employment law, charity policies and procedures, to support the UK and Germany (DE) Team.
This role with work closely with the Head of PCC & Operations to focus on:
• The coordination of recruitment working with the UK and DE hiring managers. This includes job postings, advertisements, PCC prescreening, scheduling interviews and liaising with candidates.
• Being responsible for managing the Diversity Monitoring process for all recruitment activities.
• Onboarding and welcoming of new recruits; drafting contracts, setting up profiles on BambooHR, ensuring the process is completed in a timely and welcoming way.
• Liaise with hiring manager on the new persons induction, set up meetings and have an onboarding pack ready to send and be completed. Follow up on key documentation and policies have been read and signed.
• HR operation projects and initiatives, induction, probation, sick leave, staff development, employee administration, policies and procedures, compliance monitoring and offboarding.
• The maintenance of all HR operations electronic systems in the UK and Germany to ensure all information is updated and accurate, and staff understand how to use the system.
• Take minutes of meetings as and when required, meeting the deadline in sending out the minutes.
The role will also focus on office management of the UK Head Office, this includes office maintenance issues, Health & Safety Compliance matters and other relevant areas requiring support as required. Liaising with our IT support team on maintenance of laptops and setting them up for new staff. Be the point of contact for staff office resources, supplies and equipment requirements.
Has excellent communication skills, including written and verbal to engage with employees and third-party providers. Is proficient in using HRIS software to manage employee data and produce reports. We are looking for someone to join the team who has the ability to identify issues and problem solve, be creative and can build and manage successful relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Previous charity sector experience and someone who can speak German (both verbal and written) is desirable.

The Senior Communications Strategist will contribute to the delivery of projects on issues like access to justice, achieving health equity, and securing decent and affordable homes for everyone working with partners such as Impact on Urban Health, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Shelter, and the Law Society.
The successful applicant will be committed to our mission to create better public conversations to achieve social progress - and inspired by using framing research to achieve real world social change.

This is a new role joining a small, dynamic organisation.The role is permanent and full time (open to requests to work 3+ days a week). The Senior Communications Strategist’s key responsibilities are to apply framing research to communications practice, support project delivery, and support our external communications.

The Sentencing Academy is a charitable incorporated organisation created in 2019 to promote more effective sentencing practices and to further professional and public understanding of sentencing across England and Wales. Our mission is to inform decision making and improve awareness and understanding of sentencing through evidence led research, working in collaboration with experts in the field.
We are looking for a Research and Policy Officer on an initial one year fixed-term contract. The primary responsibility for this role will be to create content for our forthcoming Sentencing Hub, which will draw together an array of resources on sentencing in England and Wales, including research summaries and data trends. The Sentencing Hub is currently in the early stages of development and will become a key research and statistical resource for those seeking the latest evidence on the effectiveness of the sentencing process. It will be of interest to sentencers, the Judicial College, the Sentencing Council, those involved in the policymaking process, Members of Parliament, journalists, and other stakeholders. We anticipate that the Hub will become the Sentencing Academy’s primary research and dissemination vehicle.
This role is a mostly remote working one but with regular meetings in London (approximately four times a month). Attendance at other locations may sometimes be required. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) but with flexibility to work reduced hours of no less than 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week). Occasional work outside of normal working hours may be required.

We are recruiting for a Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.
The post holder will provide line management and high-quality support to the direct reports in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.
Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting. In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors. You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota. Please note that this is an on-site role.

About the Hearings Panel
The Hearings Panel is a mix of lay (non-registrant) and registrant members with different backgrounds, skills, knowledge and experience from whom members of the Fitness to Practise Committee (FtPC) and our Registration Appeals Committee (RAC) are drawn, in accordance with our Committee Constitution Rules.
The FtPC considers whether a registrant’s fitness to practise is impaired and imposes sanctions if appropriate to do so. This includes considering allegations, hearing evidence and determining the fitness to practise of a registrant. This can include individual registered optometrists and dispensing opticians, the fitness of business registrants to carry on business as an optometrist or a dispensing optician or both; and the fitness of student registrants to undertake training as an optometrist or dispensing optician. You will be responsible for sitting as part of a FtPC, which will consist of either 3 or 5 members (a mix of lay and registrant members) drawn from the Hearings Panel.
You do not have to be a legally qualified individual or have specialist medical knowledge to participate in the FtPC process. We are looking for individuals who can contribute effectively and impartially, ensuring that all allegations are considered fairly and independently, maintaining standards for registrants and the protection of the public.
A FtPC can also determine whether it is necessary for interim measures (suspension or conditions) to be put in place whilst an investigation is in progress for the protection of the public or in the interests of a registrant.

Remuneration and time commitment

Hearings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC offices in London or other suitable venues.
A daily fee of £319 is paid in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule, and expenses can also be claimed.

1. Previous experience in a focused communications role managing digital, social and media relations. This could be in an agency, NGO, government department or in-house.
2. Experience of developing strategic communications and developing new ideas and approaches based on insights or evidence.
3. Experience of working with journalists and core understanding of how the media works and what makes a good story.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to express complicated messages simply and with authority.
5. Experience and understanding of web publishing tools (e.g. WordPress, Craft, Drupal) for content creation and editing
6. Proven ability and experience with building and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including journalists, partner organisations, contractors and health professionals.
7. A good level of software expertise, including MS Office packages and web-based platforms. Knowledge and experience of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva an advantage.
8. A flexible approach to working and a willingness to support colleagues across the organisation
9. Strong organisational skills – including excellent record keeping, and an ability to independently manage workload and work to deadlines, while responding to current events.
10. Enthusiasm for, and commitment to, the aims and objectives of ASH and an interest in public health more broadly. Understanding of policy influencing and government relations would be an advantage, but not essential.

You'll provide legally-based advice, information and advocacy to the families and young people in our educational settings on a range of welfare issues including social care, health and special educational needs.
You'll deliver professionally written and spoken advocacy skills to support families, drafting representations to help families access services, support or placements they are seeking for their child or young person. You'll support families to access remedies (mediation, SEND Tribunal, judicial reviews) available to families when they are refused the support to which they are entitled, and to make any necessary referrals.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Knowledge and experience of children's and adult's education and social care legal frameworks
- Experience of providing legally-based advice, support and representation to families with disabled children and young people
- Knowledge of the different local authority and public bodies that may be involved in complex welfare cases
- Understanding of and ability to refer families to remedies where authorities have made decisions that families are unhappy with

This senior role is crucial in shaping, developing, and implementing safeguarding and risk management policies and processes that support CISV’s mission of fostering intercultural understanding. The post holder will oversee the safeguarding and risk management systems for all of CISV’s global peace education programmes, ensuring they meet high safety standards and comply with legal and regulatory frameworks. As part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the CEO and lead a small staff team as well as a volunteer network of risk managers, providing training, guidance, and expert advice on risk management and safeguarding matters.
The successful candidate will be a people person and a charismatic leader, conscious that empowering colleagues and volunteers is more effective than just ‘managing them.’ You will bring significant senior-level safeguarding experience, ideally in child protection, along with a strong understanding of UK safeguarding laws and the regulatory requirements of the Charity Commission. This candidate will also show a good understanding and ability to lead a team in broader risk management concerns. You should have the ability to develop and enforce policies, manage serious incidents, and communicate effectively across diverse cultural contexts. Purpose: To advance Ceasefire’s new strategy by developing donor support for civilian rights programmes based in conflict-affected countries, including in the Middle East, Africa and Ukraine.
Responsibilities:
1. Donor research and development
To research, identify and nurture potential donors, including in the human rights, development and humanitarian sectors by:
· Monitoring open calls for proposals
· Identifying and developing potential donors, including outside of formal calls for proposals
· Expanding Ceasefire’s pool of existing project donors.
2. Programme design and proposal writing
In consultation with Ceasefire colleagues and new and existing civil society partners, to design new programmes to advance Ceasefire’s strategy and to prepare concept notes, full proposals and budgets for submission to donors.
3. Donor and supporter relations
To manage regular communications with donors and supporters, including communications on programme outputs, achievements and impact.
4. Oversight/management of specific programmes
To manage or oversee the implementation of specific projects or programmes as required.
5. To undertake any other tasks as may from time to time be requested by your line manager.
6. To maintain high standards of personal and organisational integrity, including confidentiality, and commitment to the safety and security of Ceasefire’s partner organisations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Education:
First degree in a relevant subject, such as international relations, development, law, politics/sociology.
Desirable: knowledge of international humanitarian law (law of armed conflict) and/or international human rights law.
Experience:
Essential: Three years of professional experience working with or for donors in the international development, humanitarian or human rights sectors.
Desirable: Professional experience working in an international environment. Experience/understanding of working with civil society in challenging environments.
Skills:
Programme design: practical understanding of the programme life cycle and demonstrated experience in designing projects according to logical framework or other planning tool(s).
Proposal writing: ability to write clear and persuasive programme proposals, based on logical programme designs and Ceasefire’s existing policies.
Budgeting and finance: Ability to create, amend and monitor multi-year programme budgets. High level of numeracy and financial accuracy.
Communications: a) Excellent social media skills for a professional environment, including
Twitter/Facebook, and general IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite (incl. Word/Excel).
b) Very high level of professional presentation, both in writing and in person. Ability to interact with senior individuals from a wide range of professional and international backgrounds and inspire confidence.
Languages: English – to first language standard. Arabic, French or other UN language an advantage but not essential.
