We have two exciting opportunities for two Qualified and/ or Trainee Multidisciplinary Advocates to join our established and friendly Advocacy Team. Both positions are permanent, requiring commitment on weekdays between the hours of 9 and 5. The first is being offered as a full time 35-hour 5-day week post whilst the second requires a person who can work 28 hours over a 4 day week.

Rethink Devon and Torbay Advocacy is one of the Devon Advocacy Consortium (DAC) partners which means that we work across Devon and Torbay alongside other local organisations to provide specialist advocacy services for adults with a range of additional needs including learning disabilities, physical and sensory disabilities and mental health.

Our multidisciplinary advocates specialise in 3 different types of statutory advocacy namely Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA), Independent Care Act Advocacy (ICAA) and Independent Health Complaints Advocacy (IHCA). They support people, who have difficulty speaking for themselves, to express their views and wishes and understand their rights and entitlements.

About Mental Health Innovations (MHI)

Founded in November 2017 following the success of The Royal Foundation’s ‘Heads Together’ campaign, it launched its first product, Shout, in 2019. Shout is a free, confidential, 24/7 text message service for anybody to text when they may be struggling with anxiety, loneliness or depression through to self harm or suicidal thoughts.

Job Purpose:

To support the recruitment and admission of new volunteers, promoting volunteering opportunities and completing background checks.

Key Responsibilities 

• Ask for and check references for new volunteers
• Coordinate and attend volunteer recruitment events, such as Universities; organise volunteers and staff to support
• Follow up with prospective volunteers to encourage them to apply
• Work with the Communications team to promote volunteering opportunities online
• Coordinate and run regular information sessions for prospective volunteers to explain the volunteering opportunities
• Initiate contact with volunteers and trainees to process DBS/PVG/police vetting checks as required
• Check the status of volunteers who are part of the relevant Update Service
• Proactively monitor and follow up on the progress of checks to keep on top of weekly targets

Working to support the Birmingham Hospice brand, this varied role will lead on the delivery of a diverse portfolio of events and challenges including fun runs, adrenaline seeking challenges and in memory events. Reporting directly to the Senior Events Manager this role will work to grow the income generation and profile of the charity through effective administration, supporter engagement and marketing of the events calendar, ensuring maximum participation and income is achieved. This role will allow you to use your creativity to proactively seek new income generation opportunities through event management. You will be a highly organised and motivated individual with excellent time management and written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a portfolio of events with proven success of reaching and exceeding participant and income targets. You should also have knowledge and experience of working with a range of external suppliers and volunteers and have a proven ability to build relationships at all levels. Experience of using CRMs systems is also advantageous.

Programme Coordinator

BRIGHT FUTURES UK:

Bright Futures UK is the first and only charity to support young people experiencing long term illness, back into education. Working with young people from the ages of 5-24 who have both long-term physical, chronic and mental health illnesses. We work to create different educational and social programmes of support, including Tutoring, Befriending and Career Mentoring programmes. We work with some of the biggest hospital trusts not only in London but in the UK, including UCLH, Great Ormond Street.

THE JOB:

Join us as a Programme Coordinator and become an integral part of our mission to transform the lives of young people suffering from illness in education. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills in the charity sector while contributing to various essential areas of our programme delivery, such as program administration, programme development, assistance with fundraising, partnerships and growth and volunteer coordination. You'll receive support and guidance as you grow in these responsibilities. We're seeking a dedicated individual who embodies organisation, proactivity, and a compassionate demeanor. Your role will be instrumental in helping Bright Futures UK develop and expand into a nationwide charity. • Managing matching administration between young people and volunteers to set them up in their programmes.
• Managing introductions between young people and their volunteers, helping to break the ice and be a friendly face for both parties.
• Support ongoing relationships between volunteers and young people by maintaining frequent communication and gathering feedback ensuring that each program runs productively and positively.

• Helping to support the Workshop Manager where needed in the creation and development of in hospital workshops.

The British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) is an organisation focused on the promotion of gastroenterology and hepatology within the United Kingdom. It has over 4000 members drawn from the ranks of physicians, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, scientists, nurses, dietitians and others interested in the field.

Founded in 1937, it has grown from a club to be a major force in British medicine, with representation within the British Royal Colleges and consequently the Department of Health and Government.

The Digital Manager will be a role that ensures that all digital operations are optimised to deliver a first-class membership experience to both our members and BSG Staff.

Roles and Responsibilities

To support the Head of Digital and Membership secretary in operations of the BSG website:

• Understand all current core functionality of the website - troubleshooting bugs and technical issues
• Identifying areas for improvement and development – understand and help drive the digital roadmap
• Assume day to day management and assume POC for our digital / security and infrastructure agencies
• Reporting and analytics – own and improve on the reporting suite for site performance and membership operations

Membership experience, including but not limited to:

• Day to day support in membership operations
• Support membership secretary with Member’s trouble tickets
• Develop and craft a good member experience and user journey across all digital touchpoints – enhancing and refining them where possible

Managing new Digital Project delivery as they arise eg. Education/e-learning offering and subsequent development, streaming etc.

Improve data quality across all systems, identify gaps in information in records, and update where necessary, keeping a record of all changes

Attend the BSG Live Annual Conference (travel required)

Global Fund for Children is looking for a Development Officer to join our global Strategic Partnerships Team in an exciting new UK-based role. Your main responsibility will be to help steward our active relationships with donors and supporters around the world, manage delivery of key grant outputs, and build relationships with philanthropic funders and foundations.

 This role will require engagement with our global staff team, alongside senior leadership and key stakeholders, and our expansive network of community partners around the world. You’ll help to develop strategies that build our relationships with key donors, ensuring all our reporting output is of a consistently high quality. This role will have a truly global reach with a primary focus on supporting programming and donor relationships for our work in the UK, Europe and Africa.

 You will be passionate about maintaining the quality and performance of all our outputs to donors and supporters, and have a track record of being highly organized, an ability to manage multiple priorities and an ability to work to a deadline, to ensure we achieve our ambitious goals and objectives. 

 You will be just one part of a growing and extremely ambitious and successful Development, Marketing and Communications (DMC) team based in the UK, US, and around the world. You will play an important part in the successful implementation of projects with our staff team based in more than 20 countries globally – including colleagues from Programs, Finance, Learning & Evaluation, and Safeguarding.

 What will you be doing?

• Manage the global calendar of donor deliverables for the Development team

• Consistently create and deliver compelling reports and other donor deliverables, according to our grant agreements, including collecting data, writing content, reviewing financial information, and ensuring compliance details.

• Work collaboratively across the Development team, engaging with key stakeholders, to deliver on strategic goals and KPIs.

• Liaise with Program and Finance colleagues to share grant requirements and reporting expectations, build reports and deliver high -quality stewardship items. 

• Work alongside the team to keep an accurate record of donor relationships in Salesforce, including stakeholder information, notes from meetings, reporting and submission deadlines, and correspondence with donor staff 

• Build and develop new relationships with prospective foundation donors and foundation fundraising strategy in collaboration with Senior Manager and Vice President for Strategic Partnerships 

• Represent the organisation, both internally and externally where opportunities arise, including donor visits, public events, and partner convenings 

• Keep abreast and keep the wider team updated of best practices and trends in the philanthropy sector, scoping out strategic opportunities to help us engage new prospective donors

Salary – UK-based salary range for this role will be £40,000 - £45,000, depending on experience

Weekly hours – 35 hours per week.

Our charity
The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming ‘Home from Home’ 
where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. But we’re more than bricks and mortar, 
our friendly, caring staff are there to support families when they really need it. 
Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, but especially a child. Providing 
around 3,500 families a year with somewhere to stay together just minutes from the 
hospital means that they can be by their sick child’s side and have one less thing to worry 
about.

The role 
This is a wide-ranging community fundraising role. Activities include supporting family 
fundraising and third-party events in the south such as The Royal Parks Half Marathon and 
The Brighton Marathon. You will be required to forge, develop and grow new and existing 
fundraising opportunities and relationships with local businesses, community organisations 
and schools.
Key to this, is the provision of a sensitive and effective supporter journey for new and 
existing supporters.
Also, you will work collaboratively with the fundraising department and the 
communications and marketing team to ensure effective integration of campaigns and 
activities.
You will actively cultivate and recruit new and existing supporters and volunteers to 
participate in a range of third-party events and support the organisation. 
You will lead on Supermarket charitable schemes, including research, support with copy 
and applications to reach targets set for this area of income.
 
About you 
Ideally you have successful community fundraising experience including provision of a good 
supporter journey.
You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will equally be as 
comfortable supporting families who stay with us who want to fundraise, as you are 
presenting to a room full of students, or potential volunteers.
You have good organisational skills and are comfortable working to objectives and targets. 
You are able to work with a level of autonomy and innovation to develop your fundraising 
portfolio and to increase our profile particularly in the areas close to our houses.
Ultimately this is a great role for anyone who loves community fundraising and 
understands that no two days are the same.
An enhanced DBS check for this role is required.

We are looking for a Programme Coordinator who will support the growth and development of the Democracy Classroom network, helping teachers and youth practitioners to engage young people in politics, democracy and elections. 

ABOUT THE POLITICS PROJECT

We support young people to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education. We work with young people, teachers and politicians to help them to learn, teach and engage in politics. We are a non-partisan organisation working across the UK. 

ABOUT DEMOCRACY CLASSROOM 

Democracy Classroom is a partnership between over 100 civil society organisations that supports young people to engage in elections and democracy. The network supports collaboration through newsletters, training, meet up’s and an annual conference, as well as providing resources and training for teachers and youth practitioners. Democracy Classroom pools the collective support of the sector through the Democracy Classroom Platform, where teachers and youth workers can access the collective support of the membership. 

Following the recent General Election, the network has experienced growth and is now preparing to support upcoming elections, votes at 16 and new developments such as changes to democratic education and the curriculum review. The network is non-partisan and works across all 4 nations in the UK. 

The aims of the network include: 

Increasing the number of young people engaging with democracy and elections.

Increasing the number of teachers and youth workers delivering democratic education, and strengthening their capacity to deliver impactful democratic engagement and voter registration activities in schools, colleges and youth settings across the UK.

Improving coordination between organisations engaging young people across the youth, education and democracy sectors, through growing the Democracy Classroom network.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The post holder will work with the Director and the Programme Manager of Democracy Classroom to support the growth of the Democracy Classroom network by managing the website / platform. They will:

• Liaise with partners to compile learning resources and training opportunities to share on the platform.
• Add resources, training opportunities and other relevant information to the platform as required.
• Ensure the platform is kept up to date and accessible.
• Support Democracy Classroom communication channels - producing Democracy Classroom newsletters and creating engaging social media content to highlight the work of partners, their learning resources and training opportunities, on the platform.

The post holder will also:

• Coordinate training for teachers and youth workers to deliver election education materials.
• Manage the Democracy Classroom database. 
• Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
• Provide administrative support for the Democracy Classroom network and other The Politics Project programmes and activities where required.

The job is based on a 12 month, fixed term contract (including a 6-month probation period), with opportunities for extension. 

The Politics Project is based in London, and the post holder will be expected to work from the office at least two days a week. The hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week. Occasional travel to elsewhere in the UK and working unsocial hours in the evenings and at weekends may be required.
